Big thank you to Pete for organising today and to Jim and his crew at Star.
My first time to one of these events, and thoroughly enjoyed it!
I was happy enough with my 301.5bhp (dont forget the .5!) But have had nothing to compare it with i suppose!
Hope to see you all soon,
Thanks again,
KP

Thanks to Pete and all the guys at Star. Great day even though I disappeared quite early. Although the enjoyment for me always is the run through.

Thanks to teknopete & the guys @ Star.
First time on the rollers for wee Nismo and was expecting 250-300 on the day.Very pleased with 317 flywheel, 218.5 wheels & 285 lb/ft, running a respectable (for me ) 1 bar boost.
I fired up the 5" barbecue at the end of the session but no-one brought the burgers

have to say that I thought the figures for most of the cars where fine for the day. I actually feel that folk are reading into some other rolling road day figures too much and thinking they should automatically get similar.
although he is disappointed, I though one of the better cars was gordon's P1. comparing it on the day to similar spec cars ,(UK cars with top mounts and larger turbos), it was the best I saw,did it not do a 311bhp run first?. I know what a standard P1 should have, but on the day is what matters and when a wee vf28 out performs the larger vf23's not much can be said even if one of the cars had a miss at 4500rpm ish, peak power should not have been affected.
really need to get my finger out and fit the bits to my car and join in, even if I don't stand a chance of catching john, andy and alan.

One person even said the ground was shaking because of the noise of the exhaust....

Hi John (T-UK)
Correct me if i am wrong but hasn't the P1 got a shorter gearing compaired to a MY 97 standard UK car?? Would this also increase the power delivery and figure's?
And what power does the standard P1 put out compaired to the standard MY 97, I think there is a bigger improvment on the 97 to the P1?
Only my view and not out to annoy any 1 ( Well not all the time )
Pete
Top day M8 well orginzed day and hope you enjoyed it just as much even if u didn't get your's on
And just to let you know how to spell the correct wording is CATALUNYA HE HE HE

P1's shorter gearing should not change the flywheel power.
Gain is always higher on the UK cars since they proportionately with just an exhaust are more tunable because they are so much further from the edge to start with.

t-uk . no i didnt run it again but john reckons i had a easy extra 10bhp and 10 lb torque. everyone is saying its a really good run but the car just feels quicker that that .may be down to the smaller turbo having less lag than the big boys. still i cant complain if thats what it is because it holds its own with them

Hi John
Got that. But i though that there was and issue with the diffrenet gear box's and that gave a diffrent reading? Am i wrong again??
I also managed to keep a distance with Gordon on the way up having a good old play as you do, but i found out that it was down to me having a higher torque figure than gordon not a top end BH/P figure, not a big diffrence but 6 lbf/ft. When gordon's figures came out it did throw me some what as i didn't think that i had any where near 303 bhb and 256lb/ft so when i got 269bhp and 261lb/ft torque it throw me for a bit.
Cheers Dougie

John
It got 311 BHP first run and then got 303 BHP on the second run. Jim didn't say why he gave it a second run though.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't know you were trying to get away from me on the way up to Star until it was too late. I was probably a gear or 2 higher than you until I realise I was meant to keep up with you!
Still, I'm not that too bothered about "my car is faster than yours" thing as 1) There will always be a car on the road faster than your own and 2) Michelle's giving me strict orders to stop spending money on the car! I've got a wedding to save up for for crying out loud! Thinking of that, thats me in depression mode again................................: (

A car on a TMIC which has been tuned will usually run lower on a second run because it is hot. The charge temperatures don't recover fully between runs and are at Knockhill sort of levels.
The cars sound like they are both good fun on the road as you would expect from the figures. Perhaps the VF23 would spool up slightly slower than the VF28, but when it does, it would blow a bit harder for the same boost. The P1's cams are probably what is helping the top end a little.
