Dude, the question I would like to ask how do you get air to the cone. Surely you must have another pipe collecting cold air to feed the cone ??, Please do not be offended but wouldnt the anti roll bar look better if you had painted it Green, just a thought M8

It's a good sound init Diva - lots of pops and bangs

Your probably right about the colour Deedee - never thought of painting it.

As for the air - the old airbox got it's air from a hole in the wing (where the little orange wedges lead to) and so does this one!

edited coz i can't spoll!

The K&N induction kit looks the dogs. I was wanting to get the gen II kit but they dont do one for the new bug eyed shape scoob!

I have spoken to a local company http://www.japspeed-racing.com/ who can make a custom cold air intake for me. This means a pipe running down to the front of the car, right at the bottom to suck all that cold air in. From there they will stick a cone filter of my choice. I would more the likely go for an Apexi after reading some good reviews! However its going to cost me 320 quid!!

So in the short term I may just go for a ITG panel filter and miss out on that lovely induction roar!

Has anyone managed to get an induction kit fitted to their GX bug eyed car? if so what did you go for and did it give more ooommph? Also does your engine bay look the same as mine, reason being I have the Japanese import which I think has a different engine to the UK GX.

The other mod Im going for is the de-cat centre pipe? Does this make much of a difference on the GX?

Below is an image of my scoob and the engine bay

The de-cat did make a difference, but with the induction it makes a huge difference

Your engine bay makes mine look so grubby - better nip to Halfrauds for some cleaner stuff!

Your car looks mint inside and out - and I really like the back plate - very cool

Thanks! I've only had the car a few months.. previous Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo owner.. Really please with the scoob, not as quick as the coupe but it holds the road better!

I gave the engine bay a quick clean the other day when I fitted the ecotek.. managed to get most of the dirt off with WD40 on some kitchen towel!

As for the number plate, they sell them on ebay for 19.99 !! I think the price inc P&P. All you do is tell them the size if non standard, the colour you want and the text at the bottom. Mine took 10 days to come after ordering! Well pleased with it. Oh the price is for both back and front!!!!!!!

ecotek is a small valve device that fits on a vacum/servo hose. What it does is draw a very small amount of air in and causes it to be turblated. This then provides a better mix with the fuel and helps to lower emissions, increase MPG and also increase throttle response!

I installed mine on Saturday, very easy todo, took 10 mins. Since installing it I have certainly noticed an increase in throttle respone in 2nd and 3rd at 3,500 RPM! As for the MPG its to early to tell but I have been driving heavy footed this week so I think I will break even on MPG on this tank which is good! As for the emissions I will not know until I get a decat fitted. This was one of my main reasons for fitting it! However the extra throttle response is a real BONUS!

I have read some mixed reviews on this forum on the ecotek. I choose to make my own mind up and install one. I can say for 48.99 inc VAT & P&P you cant go wrong. They also offer 30 day money back if your not happy and 2 year warranty!

Check out their website here http://www.ecotekplc.com/
and their forum here http://www.ecotekforum.com/phpBB/forum/.

The other good thing is that their forum and service is wicked. If you have any questions just call them or post a message on their forum. They reply really quick and offer so much help! I wish all companys where like this!!

Anyway you can see the ecotek in the picture of my engine bay. Its the gold device close to the manifold (left hand side).

Cheers :-)

I've heard of these - you can screw them open or closed and the more open they are the louder they whistle

My only worry is they are sucking in air after the airbox - do they come with a foam filter or is it just a wire mesh?

They do whistle for the first 200 hundred miles until the valve beds in! Then all you get is the sucking noise whilst it draws the air in!

They come with a mesh on the top which is 250 microns! They also do a filter which fits over the top, its made by pipercross and sells on their site for around 21 quid

some one recently post up a question on their web site reference 'are we sure the Ecotek doesnt cause damage' their response is as follows:

Of course we're sure - 25,000 units in use Worldwide, £5m Product Liability Insurance,
full 60,000 mile trials etc.. etc..

Hope this helps!! :-)

Sorry, but I dont see the need. None of the other forums on here alientate NA drivers, ScoobyNet covers everything! However if I were able to split this thread up, I could probably move it into 4 or 5 of the foums on here, you just all choose to post on one thread in particular.

IANW

Running leaner! Ouch... the reason that happens is the device is not installed correctly and you have extra air leaking in from somewhere.

Due to the fact only a small amount of a air is being drawn in by the ecotek, combined with the fact the fuel gets atomised a lot better, hence mixing a lot better with the air, effectively making it richer again!

If you werent happy with it you should of sent it back as appose to throwing it away!??? LOL

Anway you find a lot of conflicting reviews on the forum. I'm looking at getting an ITG filter. Reading the reviews some people say stay well clear as it can trolley your MAF leading to engine failure. On the other hand some people have had one for ages and have covered thousands of miles without any issues. I believe you should speak to the company direct and hear their views as well and also make sure any device is installed correctly!

Reference a seperate forum for sports I believe thats a very good idea. I have been thinking over the past few weeks on hosting one on my website. If the demand for one is high enough I will spend the time to set one up. Let me know what you think and depending on intrest I will take it from there.... I shall wait for your comments! ;-)
