For most parts you can just say "one of your mates on scoobynet changed it for a different one and gave you the old one".

I seriously doubt they'll have any idea what the parts should cost

Yeah - the money kinda scares her. It's a source of ammunition for her, too - "if you can buy XYZ for the car then you can buy..." etc.

The other thing is "do you love me of the Impreza more?". Hmm...

When I upraded to the Scoobysport system, I told the wife that the old exhaust would need replacing in the next 6 months anyway (probably), and that it would be prudent to spend it now, whilst we've got the money, rather than wait and be broke!!

Plus I told the new system cost a load more than I paid for it!

She has dug her heals in about the Prodrive spoiler and 18" wheels

Not too bothered about the wheels, but will keep pushing for the spoiler

She's pretty cool about the whole thing - she even sez that she can now hear me at the bottom of the road (gives her time to get shot of her bit on the side!!!)

My girlfriend doesnt care and I am always on about cars, she gets VERY BORED with the subject but she doesnt mind as she gets to drive them. She drove my 400BHP GTR and I practically shat my pants, accelerating flat out, like being in a jet fighter!!!!
Her current favourite is our Nissan Figaro's!! Cant say they are much of a drivers car though!!

The little sh*t may have a point.

I'm so glad i'm not alone on this one.
'How much was that' and 'do you really need it' are all the usual comments and the best one, what do you love the most, me or the car.
But the best bit was when i told her i was skint (white lies are allowed with the wife)and forgot that the Bank now sends me a SMS every Monday with my account balances which she viewed, ohh well i've now got to give in and allow the new French Windows.

Ps. Message alert is now on silent.

PPS.Open a SLUSH account on the side that she cant find (It works)

Not a bad idea. Just need to convince Nic that it will be a better proposition than the S2000.

It's apparently a lower insurance group and the servicing will be easier & cheaper - bonus!

Sorry but an S2000 is a much better idea, girls love soft tops, and you will have something to use when you fancy some tail slide action!

Seeing as there's a few people with experience here, how do I convince the missus that my car has been resprayed black, my wheels gold and the lights changed?

Oh, I forgot to mention I got this work done by a 'mate' for £200

Cheers

they all obviously need educating a little to the joys of scoobs then
There's no way that my other half can get away with it since I have internet access to all the bank accounts and credit card statements anyway

Easy PPPMat - I did it for you with my mobile spraying service.

A7NTY - it's just the issur of the extra £'ks to get a good S2000.

Have to admit that I would prefer the S2000 so there is a bit of variety, and they don't look bad.

I don't care either way - as long as it's not a MGTF! (I expect the S2000 will have miles better residuals, and is in a different class of car)

Use their own logic on them.
My wife will tell me she just saved us a £100 quid cos the shoes she bought were originally £200 but she got 100 off in the sale???

So I tell her what I've just saved every time i get something for the car.

I find telling them that you were going to buy it sooner or later and that it was "on sale" works highly effectively. Definitely seems to appeal to some girls logic.

Last girlfriend told me I loved my car more than her. I was completely honest and said "Yes I do. Sorry." She said it was okay, and that'd I'd "grow out of it".

We've split not, but are good friends. I think she's just hanging around to see what happens when I get rid of the car.

Most Girlfriends: Just dont get it. They never will. So just give up trying.

I got a cracking one but I learned that trying to get her exited about scoobs, parts, and modding is like.... well lets put it like this. My dog is more interested.

PS Had my car TEK3ed at the weekend. Told her it was to improve fuel efficiency seemed to work a treat. No third degree questioning.

Did use the old chestnut"this is the last thing I am going to do to the car, Its just how I want it now. (for today!!)"
