Ok so for smallest to biggest jump in performance i have to win.
The only two cars i have owned from 17-25 is a 1.4Cl polo (60bhp) and now my MY96 Sti (275+bhp).
Respect to POC for his well chosen motors (lucky bas)...me jealous...never!

Interesting reading

"most people" seem to have generally got into faster and faster cars.

Though Im interested in those that peak and then drop down a bit, then go back up again. House purchases perhaps or just sick of spending shed loads on running a thirsty bhp wagon

BTW best mod to make to your scoob, buy a VW camper, drive only that for 6weeks then go back to scoob. This works slightly better than my other mod of not driving at all for 4 months

First car. Bought for 450 quid, ex taxi 196,000 miles when i bought it, hit a cow, repaired, sold for 25 quid more than i bought it for.

88 Cavalier 1.8 LXi
91 Cavalier GSI2000 16V 4x4 modded to hell and back, 299bhp
94 Cavalier Turbo 4x4 slightly modded 380bhp.

Its cool when ya dad is service manager at a Vauxhall dealer.

USA cars

88 3.0 chrysler voyager (wifes) Gave away for a 6 pack of Fosters.
95 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0 V8. (current car - wifes)
Looks like a granny car, 257hp plus gobs of torque means it smokes the tyres nicely. Played with slightly, now about 280hp. Very stealthy in triple black. Loads of toys and leather. Handling is poo.

99 Chevy Tahoe 5.7 V8
260hp and enough torque to pull 6000lbs up the side of a cliff. Major electrical gremlins about 12 miles after the warranty ran out, traded for the WRX

4) 90 Mk2 Golf GTi 8 Valve, pretty much standard other than 3 bar grill, lights, gas shocks and scorpion exhaust.
5) MY93 Impreza WRX (Import), pretty much standard other than clear indicators, dump valve, late spec grille and front/rear strut braces and GAB Adjustable Shocks. and the STi 5 Spoiler going on tommorow.

now this is a shame.. in all this I see NO mention of the Austin Ambassador... 1.7...."L".... in gold, or the MG Maestro EFi 2.0.... which was actually a real hoot...

my fav was my first.... 1969 mini 850 bought for £20 when I was only 16... oh the memories - I think I stuck about 8 million dials into a plastic tacky dashboard, met a great guy who sold me seats, engine and stuff for only £20 and I went on to have many 'first car experiences' in that motor....
