I bought mine off e-bay for £9.99. For that you get a .pdf in 3 parts:
1. How to do it and what it involves
2. A comprehensive list of what foods have what carbs (very useful)
3. A loads of menus
(about 100 pages in total so make sure you can access a good laser printer)
They also chuck in a pack of ketostix. You test your urine with these and they tell you when you're in fat buring mode - not the be all and end all but a useful pyschological crutch.
Cheers

GaryK - yeah, but you don't get the ketostix, do you?
Rik - A chemist, I guess. I can't imagine you need a prescription - I didn't get mine from a doctor. Hang on a moment - you can buy them on-line
Cheers

Some of the preliminary info I have seen seems to conflict slightly, that of drinking coffee, can you or not?
Cheers

You can get ketostix from Boots, but dont tell them its for dieting as they will refuse to sell them. I just got some from a local chemist, no prescription needed.
Saxo...The Rowntrees sugar free jelly comes in little sachets, you just add it to hot water, available in about 3 or 4 flavours, I got some from my local sainsbury's.
I did atkins for 2 weeks and lost about 10lbs, then stopped due to a holiday. Since put it all back, but am about to start again tmw as it does work, and you do feel pretty good after the first few days.

Done day 1. Had Salmon, Asapargus and a little cabbage. Drank sh*t loads of water. Snaked on slices of ham.
Day 2. Just had Steak, Eggs and Mushrooms. Still trying to drink lots of water. Snacked on chicken drumsticks.
Have had 1 cup of coffee with cream each day so far.
Feel fine, sort of. At the moment I feel really "uuuuggghhh" for eating what, I think, is all this crap food. But willing to give it a try.
See what happens tomorrow

I started Atkins a couple of months back and have dropped from 14.5st to 12 and a bit. I didn't stop drinking booze at any point, just cut out beer completely. I didn't cut out caffein either, infact I found it made me mad for strong coffee.
btw Guiness is one of the lowest carb beers, about 8g a pint. So I drink Guiness now

UK based carblife sell the ketosticks and loads of other products. (Bit pricey tho!)
I'm back on Atkins too
10lbs down, but haven't bought any products, and only used the sticks in the early days to 'prove' something was working
Oh, and don't keep jumping on the scales every day to see how you're doing. You'll feel
if you don't see any loss!! Once a week and you'll be
ing

Tiggs - Don't worry mate, they're just an indicator (according to the bumf). Different people get different reactions.
workshy_fopp (or TAFKAFJ) - very interesting. How much did you shed during the induction? You probably wouldn't look at me and say "You fat b@stard" but, over the course of time I have accumulated this unsightly tyre around my middle and I want to use Atkins to get shot of it quickly. I'm not really interested in the weight figures - more what I look like really.
I've only just done week 1 of the induction so it's hard to tell. I reckon I look a little thinner in the face but I'd be interested to know how quickly yours came off. Were you super disciplined?
Cheers

I'm going to give this a go as from tomorrow. I'm only really bothered about the giving up booze bit, we shall see.
Been bingeing all weekend in preparation.
Must do something about my attitude.![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

I'm on day 4 of the diet. Got really mingin breath!!!! Feel ok though. Quite easy really. I used to eat out of habit and I find that bit hard cause i'm not hungry now but feel I ought to be putting something in my mouth (No rude comments please!!!). Haven't seen any difference and a litle concerned i'm having too many carbs but i'll give it till the end of the 2 week induction and see what happens.
That reminds me....... must buy some scales!!!!

Thanks Corradoboy and P1Fanatic for the names of the books. I will start this diet within the next couple of days. I am hoping to lose 2 stone by August and bring my weight down to 14 stone. Do you think it is possible?

You could buy them from me for less! Haven't even been opened! Bought them thinking I could live without bread and pasta. No way!

gordo...do you drive a lada? if not why not, its a way of getting from A to B and you seem to miss the point of doing something in a more effcient and calculated way.
saxo boy.....interesting as on day 5 i have now gone bright purple (the stick not me!) and i have also noticed that my BF% has started to drop whereas on day 1,2,3 i lost weight but the bf% went up (which reflects a constant level of fat but a reduction in not fat)
T
ps- i have found low carb pita bread and it makes things pretty easy....chicken, tuna, beef, etc wrapped in low carb bread which taste like normal bread..sorted!
