Got pulled last night....

these vents are BLANKED off, they serve NO purpose so what exactly is the point of putting another VENT on here, a suppose its for one of the many MAX power style mods that cost an arm and a leg that need AIR.

JESUS!!! YOU are the one that started on about Ferraris in the FIRST place!!! Of course a bloody ferrari is better, it costs 5 times the price and is a TOTALLY different type of car!
But there is no 'better'. Just different. The ferrari isnt better than a scoob on a twisty rally stage, and the scoob doesn't look / sound like a ferrari. You need to learn to put your brain in gear before you speak mate, or you won't find many friends in life, and certainly not on this message board.

as for ferrari's i would say they are BETTER if not one of the best cars, thats why they demand as much money as they do for one and to be honest they are owned by elite people with wads of cash
*******************************
if by better you mean less reliable, too pretty to drive properly (which could never, EVER be the case for the Scooby), more of a fashion statement than anything really.
I mean, theres nothing I aspire more to than spending the cost of a three bed semi in guildford on a 15y.o. motor with 3000 miles on it, safe in the knowledge it wont see 6000!!!
And to be fair, your statement above could be referring to Ferrari, OR BIJON FRISSE PUPPIES FOR THAT MATTER!!! lol
oh lordy, there really IS one born every minute....

i could think of something to reply with but i'm all out of ammo at the mo too tired to argue as it is pointless. but really ferrari's can be driver right by the right driver and if looked after properly are as reliable as a subaru that has been looked after properly

i dont own a corsa and i dont like max power its a pile of bull****, the fact i was trying to make is that u are more like your Max Power counterparts than you believe. i am actually sorry for causing mass offense but after reading alot of drivel lately along with ur max power front cover thing (which was quite funny) it made me realise how alike u both are.
i would say the scooby owners are just the mature version of the max power group

Madjay - ok, all p1ss taking aside, you are judging a huge group of people from what is a 'joke' thread.
The difference between the majority of subaru drivers and the Max Power crowd is that Subaru drivers are that....drivers. Their modifications are generally biased to making the car faster and better handling etc. Of course there are some that tart em up too, but the max power brigade generally (note the use of that word, one that has been lacking in your posts) mod up the way the car looks rather than the way it performs on b-roads / race circuits.
At the end of the day both groups are car enthusiasts, and most people see it that way. I'm sure a lot of subaru owners were max power types when they were young. Don't take the comments so personally!!!

i was going about u's as a whole rather than individually if thats the way i came across but i believe u's do the same in the way u make the Max Power boys come across. i do know alot of people who tart up there cars that are maybe 1.1's n all but the same as u they do it to increase there performance cause not everyone can afford the insurance on a sports car and to be honest the way u lot go on about them is insulting to say the least and it gets tiresome and thats why i decided to post. (plus random sunday bordum was thrown in, eh least it got us thru the night)

....Can i just put a point in here about the so called "blanked off" vents on the scooby bonnet. Been told by a m8 whose done the physics thingy at uni that they are actually there so the plastic acts as a heat sink and draws heat out of the engine bay... not so useless after all eh!??

Not blanked off on 22B.
Not blanked off on South African scoobs (apparently).
Point is, they are manufacturer fitted...not an add on.
Also: most of the guys who put little scoops on the vents are trying to turn them into a ram-scoop to introduce colder air to the airfiler. Increasing performance.
I think the distinction that has to be made is between taking a highly rated machine and improving the perfomance and (in some cases the looks) to taking a cheap car designed to pick up shopping and trying to make it look like a performance beast.
There are two camps on the "luke-warm-hatch" styling front: those who do it subtly and those who do it garishly. Garishy styling on a 200bhp car is (to some extent) more acceptable than it is on a 75bhp car. This is mainly down to the "walk the walk, talk the talk" aspect of car ownership. A ferrari with a corsa engine and corsa running gear just wouldn't be as desireable.
HOWEVER! A proper hot-hatch (as it leaves the factory) is more than capable of standing up against a scoob fairly well in most driving conditions outside a track. These are competant cars and frequently look good with a few subtle body mods and a slight performace hike.
A 1.2 Corsa with a Big Bore 4 exhaust and a huge scoop on the bonnet is just trying too hard to be something it will never be.
An AX GT with a 3inch tail-pipe and a nice set of sensibly sized alloys, colour coded side repeaters and a slight window tint is a respectable enough car: They handle admirably, they are quicker than most 2.0-16v saloons and are one HELL of a lot of fun to drive. Said AX-GT would get a nod or a thumbs up from all but the snobbiest of Impreza drivers (esp if it was driven well). A 1.2 corsa booming away is more likely to get a head shake.
It IS a kind of snobbery, but that's what a lot of car ownership is all about. It gets worse when you start looking at houses..............
I used to 'Max' cars in my younger days...huge stereos (and I mean HUGE! 3 extra batteries enough?) bodykit, tinted windows, Janspeed exhaust...all for a 1.4 escort! But I grew out of it.
I drove a P1 for a (VERY SHORT) while, and owned an STi for a (nearly as short) while, and have settled on a legacy, because it carries absoloutely NO image at all: I can park it anywhere, police stop me and ask me what it is, and it's just as tuneable to silly horsepower and handling (nearly) as the impreza.
It's all a matter of taste: people of differing tastes will always fail to see each others point of view. I suspect it's human nature.

I was sat in traffic last night, and some Max Muppet in a riced corsa behind me starts revving his 'engine', seeing as it sounded like a sewing machine I had to give him couple of blasts of the Full de-cat Firestorm system. Anyway we pull away (not quickly) and this police T5 appears and pulls us both over. The copper comes and talks to me first, 'Very clever doing that infront of a police car, although he's the w@nker, (pointing at the corsa), I was sat behind him and he still acted like a pr1ck, at least you didn't see me, and you have a decent car to do it in'. With that he went and spoke to Corsa muppet.
As he was speaking to him, the other copper, who happened to be female, came to my window: 'Alright mate, nice car, what speed have you got out of it?' - 'I Can't possibly tell you that' I replied, 'No honestly, Im just interested in the car' she said, so after telling her what speeds I've achieved on my 'Private track ', the other copper came and chatted for a bit, talking about the car (turns out he used to own one) and how much of a tw@t the corsa driver was.
Fair play, I thought all coppers were to$$ers, it's nice to know there are some decent ones out there

He said they pulled us because revving the engine 'Antagonises the pedestrians', this happened in the centre of Bristol last night so there were plenty of drunk pedestrians about. Stupid reason to be pulled I know, but maybe they were just bored
It's the first time I've been pulled in nearly a year of Scoob ownership.

And the Police officer obviously saw the difference, considering the names he was calling the Corsa driver to me.
Though TBH, I wouldn't like to think a Police officer would be slagging me off to someone.
