You'll fit in just fine then LOL !

You mean you first want all the ecological scandals that we have been through

"Foot in mouth" anyone ... or was that Mouth&Foot ?

Glad to see Stalin pop up though

Foot and Mouth ah yes, Britain invented that didn't it.
I am busy looking for the window that you credibility just flew

My point is far to many people in this world think that some one else should sort there problems out for them.
Agreed, but that's easy to say for someone who has no real problems, do you agree ?

They think the EU can solve the social and economic woes of there country.
Well, then they are in for a rather unpleasant surprise.

I subscribe to the theories of another Marx - Groucho. Life is to short to take it serious, and you are a long time dead, so make the most of what you are given.
He also said he would not want to be a member of a club that accepts him as a member... maybe the UK should think about that one

I was in the Army for 13 years and saw a lot of sufering and misery, hence I dont follow politics.
Oh ****, you are sliding downhill fast here Army is not politics ? Ho hum. You don't want me (who has never been one day in an army) to point to Vietnam do you ? (hey, you started to use the "big names" )

In case you are really too stupid to realize: the army just follows politicians... whoops, there goes 13 years of your life ! Even the fookin Romans knew this

Dont rely on anyone else to cure you problems, do it yourself
In one way I agree, but it seems that quite a few people don't seem to make it. Right or wrong, but quite a few fall in between all the "blankets" and either are very unhappy or start to steal your car. Maybe you have more in common with uncle Stalin than you realize LOL

All this has been realized by intelligent people about 4000 years ago (they were Greek BTW), and so we evolved. Care to join us ?

Last time I looked UK put 7 billion into the EU and took 6 billion out and thats not counting the cost of letting the Spanish destroy our fishing or the costs of British citizens being fined and arrested for selling Bananas in pounds instead of kilos or the general way we are forced to accept sloppy standards on tons of European goods. Just waiting for the British hallmarks to dissapear so we can import third rate jewelery from Italy and see if anyone else triesto destroy our chocolate industry.

btw the EU has done wonders for Ireland and thats from someone who has spent considerable time there for the last twenty sevenyears. If anyone doubts that there are a hundred or so members of my family there who would be happy to back me up.

Evilbevel

You are the funniest person I have seen on this BBS so far.
I now have to ignore you for the sake of my sides which are in a very real danger of splitting.
I hope you enjoy life over in your EU world. An if you are evolved I hope I never leave my cave

OK one more post

I think the EU is a pile of crap. I have no desire to join any part of a European club you are assuming that the views of the nations politicians reflect mine - wrong.
Each nation should stand alone.
I am and never have been political. Although I have shot people in the name of politicians, the second derived the first, go figure.
I have stated my opinions, you wish to attack them and construe them to your own perpose with a series of unrelated out of context assumptions on the perspective of my words.
Go hold hands with your fellow Europhiles, I hope you are happy in EUtopia.

About those people who told you aboudt 'EU saviors' - I suppose it was just because of their bad English - they wanted to be polite and say SOMETHING. "EU - good!" EU help us much!" (although my fellow Poles tend to say '***' instead of 'us')- like the Iraquis crying "Tank you Bush!" Tank you very much :>
It;s funny that the French are much more PRO EU than you people. And the Germans - even though they are in a crisis.
You are talking about 800 people made redundant in Wales - wow - 800 is getting sacked here every day - I'm talking about 4 million.
And I still think that EU was good for Ireland, Greece and SPAIN - c'mon - now the Spanish think EU was a true blessing! And they have the unemployment rate around 20% - but they now that if it wasn't for the EU it would be bigger and the wags and welfare would be much lower!
You say - when your standard of living will raise we will move on - no problem. When our standard will raise that would mean we developed and we'll manage.
I don't really care for the farmers because they think they are the most important people in Poland forgetting that they are actually a small minority - if the free market forces them to change their ocupation - well - oops - I'm so sorry.

Roosvelt, Churchill, Atlee and Joe S - we remember :>
Truman was the one who wanted us to take part in the Marshall plan - and we remember that too. Mr.Eden is also considered to be a positive person.

Oh - we have BigBrother already :> sorry

Nothing to do with nice. I'm not a UK resident

The problem with the whole EU discussion is that I always feel I'm between a rock & a hard plate.

I am *scared* about the way the EU is heading, and I can well see another European war coming from all the dishonesty/petty politics/corruption (yes)/lack of democracy etc...

OTOH, the UK is even more stuck up their own ***, so I hope Gordon Brown (Fatty 2 Jags for you page 3 readers) gets the upper hand and the UK stays *out* of the monetary union. The UK has a better liaisoin with the US, a better "cultural" understanding, and maybe they should join the US economically, it would make sense.

It's just... look, the British are not exactly well known to understand other cultures are they. "We" speak their language (with spelling mistakes, I admit), but on average, they don't speak any other language. Language is culture...

UK food sucks like a decaying French snail, they still think "common wealth" but are hopelessly behind the times...

It's just extremely funny to hear someone who admits his prime intrest is cheap labour (**** social benefits or equal rights) to comment on different cultures/food, *especially* when they are from the UK.

"Dai", you have dodged quite a few tongue in cheek questions, and suddenly turned a bit sour on me. That's life I guess I don't give a toss, it's hardly surprising, and to be honest it's almost a national trait.

But why don't you just try to read "Politics for Dummies" before engaging into a discussion like this eh ?

Again, I'm a Eurosceptic, it's a big mess. One of the reasons it is (but not the prime reason mind) is the role the UK plays in it. "Love ya/love ya not" sums it up...

Personally, I would like to see the UK totally OUT of the EU

Unfortunately, Poland has more sympathy for the US/UK than for the EU (maybe rightfully so ?). That's where it all gets *really* complicated.

well daiscooby - you could have started with that last post - and instead of writing 'why Poland should not join EC' writ 'why UK should quit' or 'why Poland should not come to UK' :>

Darn - you are a big macho soldier. Wow. Impressed. That explains your tourism on the Balcans. Been to Srebrenica with some fellow Dutch?

Dai,

Another lesson to you son...

Try reading... I am a EUrospectic. Very much so.

Instead of wasting 13 years in the army, you could have learned the meaning of "non sequitur"

I'm glad you shot people though, I personally... erm... haven't

EvilBevel - yeah - it is a problem. I sometimes feel horrified by our diplomacy - US greatest ally on the continent and Germanys great friendly neighbour, the cousin of France etc.
And I don't trust the Germans one bit(Schroeder and Fischer). Neither do I trust mr. Chirac. But goverments change. Europe is always here. I don't believe in the war histeria, but I am worried about the new constitution with less rights for smaller countries.
But will smaller countries agree? BENELUX, Denmark - they are the founders of EU!
So where are you from EB? Maybe I speak your language (understand your culture :> )

LOL

This is where it gets really funny (being 80% Dutch)

What the Dutch did there Bied was a fvcking disgrace.

But fair play to them: their government *did* fall on that one. Then it got even worse, new government (PIM FORTUYN !!) and now they are in an official recession...

Shame all those dead people didn't benefit... but then again, it's the soldiers that call the shots right Dai ?

Not playing games, you old furniture I'm from Belgium aka "Axis of Weasel" LOL.

Mind you, I dissaproved of the anti US feeling that seemed to feed our government. Being critical is good, completely ignoring history/culture is not good at all. When you are a member of the EU/NATO you play your ****ing role

I actually have more respect for the way Blair played his role than for my own government. At the same time I was not a big fan of the Iraqi war... go figure Maybe politics is a bit more complicated than a few slogans ?

The EU concept was a good one, and indeed, it was the BLEU that started it all (Belgian/Luxemburg union). That then became the BeNeLux... Well spotted.

This was at a time where you could hear on Heathrow that "the mainland had been isolated" because of a bit of fog LOL

yeah - it was a disgrace. I try to put myself in their situation... But I really don't think I would give my rifle to a Serbian soldier to see him using it as a tool of 'etnic clensy'...
That's why I don't think it's a good idea that the Dutch come to Iraq to help the Poles run this zone of ours. I've heard the Russians are coming. Now that is just MAD!

80% Dutch... let's see, I don't know how to spell the things I've learned in Dutch... I can write FEYENOORD LOL

'old furniture' ? :> now I'm really impressed - someone knows !
But it's not the meaning I had in mind :>
Personally I also liked Blair's politics. And I think this war was an oportunity for Poland to say 'haha - see! we're independant and we can do whatever is good for us ' (us meaning us not US(A))
Schuman? I hope he is happy - Germany united, Poland , Czech, Slovakia, Hungary and the rest about to join - he would like that.
I am optimistic and hope that Eu is just in a crisis and shall overcome.

Hey - is there anybody here who thinks EU is ok? Partially ok? Has ANY positive aspects? Because , as for now, 'why Poland should not join EC' sounds like friendly advice...

Cool

I whished I could be as optimistic Bied, but it seems Europe still has a very very long way to go.

I think we *did* lose a few people on this thread though

Yougoslavia... ****... this country never really recovered from WWII (as much as good old Tito tried, his death had some consequences...), they were once an *example* of different cultures/religions living together. Visiting Mostar (not with the head-stuck-in-*** attitude a few people showed in this thread) in 1985 almost made me smile... then seeing that bridge being bombed away, Dubrovnic... What a frigging nightmare.

*THAT* is why we ****ing need the EU, not because of some old empire that means **** all today, and is in my eyes a 3rd world country .

You still there Dai ? Care to really cross swords and not hide behind some cvnty military career/being an employee of a company that just wants to feed off developping economies ?

Oh ****... you were a hero in this thread, then it went sour... What's up, a bit frustrated that a non Brit can actually play your game ? Or are you on company internet time Or do you just admit having the historical knowledge of a peanut ?

Your turn.
