So from reading this thread and others, I can conclude that for a standard Scooby:
- the brakes are junk
- the wheels are junk
- the tyres are junk
- the stereo's junk
- the speakers are terrible
- the lights are useless
- the seats are junk
- the exhaust is rubbish
- the handling is suspect

Hmm, think I'd better get an Audi TT instead.

yes but

Audi TT = Junk

Audi = JUNK, they make some of the most mechanically unreliable cars on the planet and they have ZERO interest in there customers

Who said anything about junk (except the brakes and lights on the pre MY01's, and brakes on everything except the MY01 > STi!) but there is always a better part you can upgrade to from aftermarket suppliers!!!

pre MY01:

1) Driver training
2) Proper Geometry setup (inconjuction with 2,4 & 5)
3) Bump Steer Mod
4) Tyres (not RE010's and not PZero Assimo's)
5) Eibach springs
6) Anti-Lift Kit
7) Uprated rear anti roll-bar
8) Solid rear drop links including uprated bushes
9) Uprated rear anti roll-bar mounts
10) 17 or 18" wheels (needed for brake upgrade which would be 11.)

MY01/02/03 WRX

1) Driver training
2) Proper Geometry setup (inconjuction with 2,4 & 5)
3) Tyres (not RE010's and not PZero Assimo's)
4) Eibach springs (either original Pro Kit, Prodrive or new Eibachs)
5) Anti-Lift Kit
6) Uprated rear anti roll-bar
7) Solid rear drop links including uprated bushes
8) Uprated rear anti roll-bar mounts
9) 17 or 18" wheels (needed for 10.)
10) Uprated brakes (AP4/6 pot my choice!! )

MY01/02/03 STi

1) Driver training
2) Proper Geometry setup (inconjuction with 2,4 & 5)
3) Tyres (not R040's and not PZero Assimo's)
4) Prodrive Eibach springs
5) Anti-Lift Kit
6) Uprated rear anti roll-bar
7) Solid rear drop links including uprated bushes
8) Uprated rear anti roll-bar mounts
9) 18" wheels (need to fit over OE Brembo 4-pot calipers like P-FF7's)
10) PPP (Prodrive Performance Pack)

Do you see a pattern forming there?

The cars are good as standard but can be improved many times over for a small (ish) outlay as above!!!!!!

Matt

A big mod seems to be driver training. That must cost millions, as we are all ok, its the other dipsticks that can't cope. How the hell do you train all of them?

5. A new exhaust

Plenty of people know what the Bump Steer Mod and as there has been so much written about it, doing a search will overwhelm you with information

P.S. Driver training is up there because everybody can be a better driver than they are with training (either in the Roadcraft/Safety stakes or in car control).

I think you knew that really Andy and were just facetious but just in case....

1)New high density fillings for your mouth because of the hard STI ride the buggers will fall out.

2)Better paid job to keep filling up with optimax.

3)Ditto for the car Insurance.

4)Big back box to annoy the neighbors ( or so they say )

5)er thats it!

Red face

Err where do I fit my driver training on my car.... and before anyone says in the drivers seat I would just like to say this is not a Subaru mod at all , or should I add to the list other oh so worthy "mods".
2 Thoughtful driving in line with care for the community
3 Therapy to avoid stress and curb that aggressive need to overtake slower moving cars.
4 First aid training for road side assistenance.

Yes I know it is a good thing , but not in the spirit of this post.

I don't know about that Ross "List of best mods" implies that you are upgrading your car to make it better/go faster and the cheapest and most effective mod to do that is to become a better driver! I'd say that *was* in the spirit of the post

Having said that, if I take it off my list, I can fit brake upgrade into my 10th spot on the pre MY01 list....

Cool

Matt ,
Have to agree to differ on that , but hey so what!
How about hiring the Stig to drive me about, that would be a mod worth having, may learn something too, having said that he appeared
to over drive it a bit on Top Gear.
Probably need washable seat covers as well as a brown trouser upgrade!

You up for the Ace on the 1st, if so CYA there!
