Tigger:
Mmmm ... there must be some bizarre common theme here then.
I met a girl on the internet while working in California. I chatted to her for a little while and we arranged to meet for a drink. It was a nice evening, she was pretty, intelligent and seemingly nice. We went back to her house, and she then suggested that we got to know each other better.
She told me to wait, and went downstairs (to her basement) and after 10 minutes said I should come down. I went to the basement to find a fully equipped dungeon (cross, an@l plugs, whips on the walls, surgical stirrups etc..), with her standing in the middle in high boots and little else. An ideal fantasy, but ..
Unlike your friend, I wimped out and ran away. Americans are crazy at the best of times, and I really wasn't going to let a complete stranger anywhere near me like that!
Steve.

I've aquired a really good male friend via this bbs (nothing sexual btw), so internet isn't all bad but being female, I wouldn't do the internet dating thing for safety reasons. Bloke I work with does this dating malarky and has ended up with some very dodgy women however, they couldn't have been as dodgy as him!!!

I guess it's a good way to meet people but wouldn't bother myself as chances are they're gonna be a bunny boiler/under-age/bushpig.
Used to get quite a lot of girls on AoL sending instant messages (you can search peoples profiles). Was chatting up a girl once and it was getting a bit racey - she was only down the road so I thought 'what the hell, send me a picture then'.
'You have email'........
.....It was my mates EX-BIRD!!!
Jamie
ps No I didn't.

i know a bird who married a guy she met thro the internet very quickly after meeting him for the first time in the flesh. they'd been mailing ea other for a year so she thought she knew him but he turned out to be a proper t**t (without wanting to get into slagging the bloke off too much).
someone else said here that the net allows you to communicate easily at the start of a relationship cos ypou get time to think before you type or whatever, but that's why it's so easy for people to make out they are what they're not. i'd rather be sat in a club/bar with some girl and able to suss out from the glint in her eye and tendency to lick her chops at the mention of the words "manacles" and "meat cleaver" whether or not she's my type! Otherwise you have no idea really. Oh, and she's divorced now.

Everyone keeps going on about chat sites! I've never seen or been in a chat site other than scoobychat Where the hell are these sites and surely you spend 99.9% of the time talking to someone down under or in America or the other end of the UK at best?

God almighty! Imagine meeting members of the opposite sex from the net,are you mad?
The net should only be used to meet strange blokes in pub carparks
to discuss the size of your rear pipe or how much pressure you need in your rubber for maximum grip!

I've met a few blokes over the net, most have been ok but yes a couple have been a tad weird.
Best of the bunch was my Mr Foxy. Started as friends and then gradually started to feel some chemistry between us. He was admitted into hospital for 3 weeks a while later and it scared us both into taking the plunge and meeting. We're still together over 2 years later! Best risk I ever took, *Goes all dreamy-ed*

Ah online dating. I've dabbled with this in the past and was registered on a few of the more reptutable sites, I got some interest, however, i had already, by then, met someone else via the net, and she did not smell of chipfat and was not some 50 yr old beer swilling northern string vest bloke, she was very very nice indeed.

I met my current Girl Friend on this BBS!!!
We started off e-mailing each other then it got so we would send txt's. Then after a few weeks we decided to talk to each other on the phone.
We would talk most nights, once for 4 hours till 1am
After another week or so of talking on the phone I went to meet her (lives an hour and a half away) at her house and currently lives with parents so met them so could tell she wasn't some nutter wanting to whip me or summat
I now spend every other weekend, more or less, driving up to see her and she gets the train up to mine the weekends in between. Been on holiday together and get on well too so things are good
As said above it does help in some ways talking on the net/txt’s first as haven’t got to worry about making dick of yourself etc. We both exchanged photos early on so we knew we wouldn’t be wasting our time.
Any way we have now been going out for 10 months and both are currently saving to move in together (we're both 24).
I would say give it a go but just be careful. Only thing that is bit of a bugger for us, at the moment, is travelling to each others as can’t do the normal things like pop round after work etc but that’s just how things are at the moment but are saving to get our own place.
