Integrale,

I only think flamer kits are a bad idea cos of the image they give the scooby. I get flames anyway, but subtle ones, not 2 foot flames
which make my car look like it's a portable flame thrower.

Image affects insurance premiums - not so much for old gits though.

Image does affect insurance premiums but in all honesty how can they make the already rediculously expensive to insure car more expensive.

why do you think you get bigger flames with a flame kit than you do with 'natural' flames ?

I really can't believe that people of your ages are interested in getting flames out the back of your motor.

I can understand people modifying their cars to make them look good and go fast but seriously, what IS the point???

At 23, there's no way I can be considered over the hill so you can forget all the jibes about retirement homes etc etc.

I'm all one for having fun and enjoying yourself but do you realise how immature you sound??

Maybe you boys should sell your scoobs and get what you really want..... a nova GSi.

It's no wonder insurance premiums are through the roof with these sort of shennanigans going on.

SUMMARY: Show a bit of maturity seeing as you're driving a true sports car!!!!

Steve you clearly have an old head on young shoulders , sadly I've got a young head on old shoulders & I think flames are well alright. Wish I had a scoob at 23 , had to wait until I was 27 before I could stump up the insurance , saying that a few years back insurance seemed worse than it is now , living in Essex doesn't help either.
Take it easy.

u just can't beat flames, i don't care how old (or young!) u are. I grew up on Group B rallying and have since had an indelible ink stain on my brain of intergrales on full opposite lock with flames ot the zorst !
Some people just can't wait to get old and don rubber pants and pace makers, still, it takes all sorts.

Thumbs down

Another reason to move on from the Scoob imo.

So if somebody comes up and says "Ooh, that must be a *really* potent engine, to be able to spit flames out the back like a rally car", and you say "er, no, i had a pipe fitted to feed petrol into the exhaust pipe specially so i could just make it look the same", is the person who asked going to be impressed or think you're a ***?

And once it becomes wider knowledge that these flames are merely from kits, won't they bask in the same glory as neon washer jets?

Telboy... .you obviously don't know what is involved in making flames spit from the zorst!!! There is no pipe feedin petrol to the zorst..... tis mearly a spark plug that gets drilled in to the zorst and a little black box in the boot that makes it fire constantly!!!!

The engine is potent enough to cause the flames it's just the zorst heat on it's own is very rarely hot enough to burn the fuel that comes out of it, that's where the spark comes in!!!

Cheers for Telboy,

Fully agreement with you mate!!!!

Steve

Admiration is extended to the people in favour of the kits though. At least you have started a decent "debate".

Stealth, i stand corrected then; the last one i saw looked like a flexible fuel hose thingy, but i didn't get down on my hands and knees to check too closely!

However it's caused, it still seems a highly dubious thing to actively want to do in my opinion. I'm obviously far too old for all this lark!

stealth,

that photo looks like southend seafront to me!

sums up that side fo the argument as far as I am concerned.

Extra sparkplus merely adds weigth and takes away from performance.

Anyone with a brain knows that cars simply do not produce that kind of flame naturally.

I love the flame my car will be doing it properly though. Yellow flames are for panzies.

Mt car has been tuned to pop on overun naturally due to its fuelling, and spit cones of blue flame 2 feet out of the back. none of this namby pamby yellow flame that looks like an overweight candle.

Anti lag and launch control are the only reason to have proper flames coming from your car, and they actually do something worthwhile too!

Well said Adam.

I got called an old git for being negative about these things,
but i'd rather get called an old git than a sad *******.

Maybe flamer kits will come with a gun next so that you can actually aim the flames at people??

I've heard that when installing a flamer kit you also get an automatic drop harness that is located just behind the driver's sun visor that drops a burberry cap on to your head whilst adjusting the angle of your seat backwards whilst simulaneously inflating a dyed blond 15 year old girl called Chantelle into your back seat

Couldn't resist

Class thread (if very sad )

Very good Adam, that was South end Sea front.... and to be honest if you can tell such a thing from one photo you must be rather familiar with the place, which would make you as sad as us lot for going there in the first place!!!!

PMSL @ adds extra weight and takes away performance !!!!!
The kit weighs less than a bag of oranges.... in the grand scheme of things that will not effect an Imprezas performance in any way shape or form!

Anti Lag (if you are not racing) serves no real purpose other than to destroy clutches and Engines in turn!!!! Plus tis much cheaper to buy a flamer kit than to spend 1500+ quid on an ECU to get the same result.... chances are your car is no quicker than a car with a PE phase one chip and a flamer kit!

PMSL @ Sipie....... I knew I was missing afew bits from my car but couldn't quite put my finger on it... must consult the scooby handbook on installing the car dropper and seat thing....... Don;t think the missus would be to pleased if a blond bird inflated under her ****!!! :

I wasn't emplying that the place is Sad, I was emplying that Adam must be a little sad for suggesting that only Barry boy racers go to saaaaarfend yet he knew where my car was with one photo :P

Got nothing against the place, tis why I opt to go there with the other scooby boys
