It beats me how time and time again you read a thread that has been done to death and still people think they can try it on.

It is clear.

Display of Vehicle Registration Marks on Imported Vehicles
(which have a restricted space for a standard sized number plate)
Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display number plates with smaller characters if:

The vehicle does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval

AND

The vehicle's construction/design cannot accomodate standard size number plates
Specifications for smaller sized plates (for certain imported vehicles)

Character Height

64mm

Character Width

44mm

Character Stroke

10mm

Space between characters

10mm

The Impreza has ample room for a standard sized plate so you only stand to look silly if you say otherwise.

Lol at John!

Spoon, fair point. Ive got the same size number plate as wible and he came round last night as he was passing. He said it did look to small as i have a border and it crunches it up more! lol

Good point about the noise pollution - i knew it was later

spoon do you always talk ****, or are you just in one of those talk about stuff i dont understand moods? lol

Read what that bit you posted says, a smaller plate is allowed if there isnt room, what they mean by this is if there isnt a numberplate recess the size of a standard one. Some jap cars have square recesses so this is what they mean. Where on the front of your car is a number plate recess?

There isnt one. Modst people choose not to block their rad or fmic with a big plate funnily enough. So if you dont have a space for a normal sized plate and its an import you get away with it. All thats necessary is you have minimum sized lettering, ie motorbike stuff which is loads smaller than the car stuff anyway.

I run a small plate, a few m8s with evos do and weve been stopped and had them measured before...... funny enough we didnt have to remove them. My friend with the evo had some dumb cop who didnt know the change try and take him to court and the cps wrote to him to appologise and drop the case.....

Perhaps next time youre pasting from the dvla web site you should try reading some stuff on it. LMAO

Siwrx- You're a prime example of what I've said!

You think because you feel like putting a small plate on the front of an Impreza because of an after market mod that you are entitled by law to do so???

I ask you, what chance has anyone got with that logic.

The Impreza has enough space for a full-size plate, end of!!

Evo's are another matter, I never mentioned them.

I'm just off to take my front wings off because I want to put a set of 24" wheels on and they only get in the way after all.

spoon u daft **** the plate is totally legal, ive had traffic cops tell me that and the dvla say it on their website you so skillfully pasted from lol.....

Your name is really fitting as you seem to think you know more than trained traffic officers about dvla rullings. Though guess the cps were obviously wrong with my m8 because u said so LMAO

***** haha

lmao at u trying to worry me by mailing me, im in awe of your profile clicking skills there spoon lol... Though before you mailed me i didnt know who you are, now i have a nice traceable ip....

Fact is you are wrong, go look it up on the dvla website or ring the dvla and ask them what the minimum letter size and spacing are on an imports plate if it doesnt have a numberplate recess, which scoobies dont. Add it up and you will see how big the legal size for a plate is.

But feel free to try and prove me wrong, which you won't as I actually bothered to read the dvla press release on them. Ill happily say here infront of everyone, prove to me that the dvla ruling is not for cars without standard sized recesses and that it doesnt allow bike lettering and ill admit im a ****.

Or are you going to send me more scary emails to show just how mature you are. I mean ffs u give it all the mouth when i correct you on your mistake, but when i give u some mouth back u try and intimidate me lol. Its like being in primary school.

see uv decided not to try and argue more about the plates..... realising you are wrong are you?

ANyway im not gonna bother replying to any more of your posts as im sure im interupting your homework time and dont want your mum to get upset when u flunk your gcses.

If you manage to find something to prove you weren't wrong on the original topic feel free to post it up, though I find it more likely that you will claim you can't be bothered so you don't loose face.

Nope but they dont hav a numberplate recess of any shape whatsoever so they cant argue its designed for a uk size one now can they?

"Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display number plates with smaller characters if:

And an impreza with a front mount or a driver who would rather their radiator got air has room to accomodate a standard sized plate where pray tell?

Again ur getting the theory wrong, i think easiest thing to say is have u been stopped for having a smaller than uk standard front plate? Im guessing no, so you are talking hypothetically on what u assume to be the case. Wheras I have been stopped for just that as have my friends and funnily enough none of us have been prosecuted because the police / cps conceded the point.

If u remember a while back C posted about just this on his evo 5 on here and they tried to prosecute him for it and had to drop it as the plate was within the given legal size. Evos dont have small plate holders on them either so how did he get away with this if your theory is right.... simple he wouldnt have.

let me guess now youre going to tell me theyre all wrong and you are right and know far more than the cps and traffic coppers lol
