This happens to me all the time, they follow me at a set distance, for a mile or two then........
They turn on the sirens, and the blue flashin lights!![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
On a serious note, dont bother confronting them, just drive as normal(unless they try to overtake, then hoof it). Never drive to your home, and leave a large enough space between you and the car in front so you can escape if you have to stop in traffic or at the lights. If you dont have a warrant out for your arrest drive to your local Police Station.
Later Yoza
PS. Zippy, less of the "blow up Yoza" ideas, I get enough threats as is is.

If you are being followed IF you get the number plate call the police.................Long shot I know but at least its been called through and if you are arrested for dangerous driving, its because you feared for your life.
I know one person that booted it around the local area got caught doing over the speed limit and said to the cops "didn't you see the white transit van with 3 blokes and baseball bats? I was fleeing for my life"

makes me ****ing sick we work hard for our cars and some dicks think they can just come and take it they would have to batter me completely till they got my scoob.i like the ideas though of getting on motorways cause they would need a quick car to keep up on as some other people suggest country roads would need one hell of a driver to keep with the scoob.having said that i can set my alarm off from the remote could be worth a try if your in a town with lots of people.

Getting caught approaching a car full of lads with a baseball bat is likely to get you into much more trouble. My advise (FWIW) is to NOT STOP if you can avoid it. Get your a*se to the nearest police station as quickly as you can. As long as you are moving they can't do anything without actually ramming your car and by that stage they have made their point clear.
Hopefully, these small minded pond weeds are opportunistic. If you foil their attempts, they will move on. Just make it as hard for them as possible.

Be carefull. Not paranoia mate, just good sense.
This happened to me a few years ago I had an exact RS500 cos rep(everything genuine etc). People used to come in my private work car park and be checking my car out. My boss told them to f*ck off a couple of times.
One night I was followed home, they were waiting sat on the bonnet of a car outside my work, when I left they jumped in the car and followed me. I was aware of them all the way home, then they dissapeared just before my house. As I was closing the garage door on my baby for the night they slowly rolled passed the my house and looked in to the garage to see me closing the door on the car. My heart sank

This "tailing" is getting far to common and there's a few good ideas in this thread BUT.......
If you are challenged for your car, let them take it, its "only" a car (NOTE TO MRS MAD:there... I said it!)
At the end of the day this is, unfortunately, one of the reasons we all pay our insurance.
Its all very well saying "carry a maglite" or "take a bat out with you" but it doesn't take much to work out the odds of three blokes getting said weapon off you and beating you to death with it. Believe me, if they are violent carjackers they wouldn't think twice.
Just keep your doors locked, stay aware and DO NOT be a hero.

I still think the idea of people within the same area exchanging mobile no's for emergency use ,just to see subarus turn up in force when the scum gits think they have the upper hand will be enough to scare them away ,and no violence needed then. a dozen scoobys with big magnex's etc is enough to scare most people

I agree, that Scoobys en mass turning up to assist a fellow Scooby owner would be an awesome sight and hopefully prevent any $hit happening to the person being tailed.
Thats what my heart says.
My head however, keeps imagining the field day that the press and society in general would have. Imagine the headlines....
"Subaru thugs gang up on youth"
"Vigilante Subaru Drivers take law into their own hands" etc etc
Okay, I'll never get a job for a newspaper writing headlines, but you get my drift.
We would be classed as yobs, and what little respect we have now would surely drain away.
My advice would be, if you genuinely think you are being followed and are concerned for your safety, then phone the cops, and be sensible. No heavy traffic, don't get boxed in. Doors locked. Prepare to activate launch control if you have to get away. Drive like a demon to get away if you have to, lets be honest our car should always outrun ar$eholes like this! (unless they are in a Scooby too!
) You can always justify your driving to plod later, especially if you have called in about being followed.
Be safe people.

In my case last night, I had absolutly no chance of getting the reg plates as they were two motorbikes
I drove past the police station, but there was no way on this earth I was going to stop there and try and make it to the door (anyone seen assault on precint 13) you can no longer drive in as a huge barrier prevents you from doing so, so the only option would be to leg it to the doors, and hope they havent closed for the night
when I realised I was being tailed last night, I drove in complelty the opposite direction to my house, and took a very long detour avoiding all areas with trsffic lights

Don't know what the bikers were up to but they must be seriously deranged/tooled up to try it on two wheels.
Bodybag not bodyshop is the requirement Taz![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Sonic, I'm blaming you. It's obvious you upset them earlier and on the way home from the pub they mistook me for you! Next time I'll stop and give directions![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Local station is hopless, I've decided best method is flat out along a motorway then a few quick laps round a Services car park.
That should drop a few dougnuts in tea cups!

Good point...
Another long-shot would be having a camera in the car (to hand). Take some photos, in an effort to capture their number plates, but more effectively affect their vision at night.
As an experiment, I once fitted a video camera rearward facing on the back shelf and you should see the reaction of tail-gaters who suddenly noticed the LED/camera lens.

I've been following this thread with interest, and while I really like the idea of phoning a few scooby-owning mates to come and assist, I can't see it working. If you're being followed, I would think this would be anywhere from 5 minutes to maybe 30 minutes ? What if the 'posse' are working, or too far away, or had a couple of beers, or otherwise engaged ? With the best will in the world, you can't rely on such help to arrive within the time available, despite the best of intentions.
I reckon the best thing to do is drive away and lose them if possible and if its safe to do so. Confronting them would probably not be wise, unless you have several large tooled-up mates in the car with you.
I personally would not confront them, nor stop and hand over the car, but try to make good my escape. I wouldn't worry about getting nicked for using a mobile while doing it, or breaking the speed limit, surely the police should understand ? It worked for David Beckham after all ?
The best thing anyone can do is be vigilant and stay aware of your surroundings - try to avoid trouble before it finds you. Leaving yourself an escape route every time you pull up is a good idea.

This little event has honed my contingency plan and beyond the banter and bravado there are some feasible ideas.
i.e I logged 999 into voicedial and resolved to have the phone on hands free, just in case. Like the idea of a rear facing camera, but might get smash & grabbed by an opportunist when parked. Also the petrol station video. Pull up beneath it and sod off with the keys, positive i.d. if they tried to take it then.
I agree with Tony that the Subaru Tactical Intervention team
has its limitations, but there's a level of reassurance there.
Even if no direct assistance is offered, they could do the Police liasion leaving the driver to concentrate on his escape.
Really love the idea of someone getting hit leaving a track day.
Imagine 20 Scoobs roaring out of Donnington Park in hot pursuit with the sun setting behind them
Have to get someone to belt out Ride of the Valkyrie's on external speakers to make it work though

been tailed on the motorway - in fact they bumped me at about 80mph. So all I did was just eject a few cans of coke and then got a few minutes ahead of them with the lights off at big speed - again, like the guy above - not my finest hour.
my advice is to keep the digital camera to hand and then post the picture up here. there are LOTS of eyes on scoobynet - infact, wasn't a stolen scoob once found by a fellow scoobnetter?

What my mate used to and probably still does is keep a box of roof nails in his car (the ones you use to put felt on you garage roof)
If he ever gets followed he would open the sunroof and throw them out.. instant puncture !!

The call fellow scoob drivers is a valid idea - it needs work and would need to be co-ordinated by a central person who could be trusted. Personally I think calling 1 number then asking them to liase with Plod on your behalf.

Just been followed! Well over two hours ago as I’ve been cruising in the second car trying to spot the *******s [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
Couple of miles off the m’way spotted a dark coloured Volvo in the mirror running fogs n sidelights but in better safe than sorry mode I reverted to a sedate pace.
Vehicle maintains position behind, so I dropped to 25/30mph. Car is right on the bumper but making no attempt to overtake. Extensive use of the brake pedal at junctions illuminates three youths, not a pair of Traffics finest.
Approaching a development with a P shaped road layout with only one entrance/exit, the Volvo is still there! So I slip a dummy left, which chummy commits to and U turn in an adjacent cul de sac. Back onto the main thoroughfare our foglight friend appears in the mirror having completed the circuit.
Burst of acceleration and a trip round the bye roads lost my “shadow”.
BUT ….I’m starting to wonder. Was is it simply paranoia ?
