Stoopid Bikers Today!

i'm with you on this one bravo - most bikers know how to handle themselves in traffic (and filtering is part of that, and safe too if both cars and bikes keep their hair on about it) and around each other. bikers have ussually been pretty courteous to ea o even in London, but there is a big pizza bike type culture which throws all that out of the window. particularly cutting in without looking, resulting in the involuntary stoppy, and the pulling across you as you leave the traffic lights, grrr. not a big bike/little bike thing as most bikers wouldn't do it to each other.

hmmm i really dont think i should post here
ok so i might drive like a loon and havent the patience for drivers whose minds drift off into the clouds and their observation of their surroundings fades into the ether.
Its an old broken record, there are some responsible drivers & irresponsible drivers who could be educated but selfish subborness will always prevail.
According to the highway code,
you should be driving to the left hand side of the lane, leaving a gap between car & righthand line.
If someone looks (nb.looks. The use of rearview mirror occasionally is required ) like the want to pass, let them pass
ok ok so i do it far too often. Im approaching a car i wish to overtake, theres a car approaching the other way. Due to distances im actually able to pass before they get to me . But what my point is, is the negative driving WHY??? do they then procede to insist on moving as close to the centre line as possible???? I had previously deemed enough space to pass saftely, but due to their repositioning, my passing becomes dangerous. Of course if there was an accident i would be purely to blame. An accident which they could have prevented.
ok picture it:
on my side of the road, a parked car. Some distance away, an approaching car.
I move out to the other side of the road to pass the parked car. The approaching car continues because they think "they have the right of way"....
Stubborness of "right of way" against possible head on collision???
Believe me ive seen it...
Observation of BOTH sides of the road, thats all i ask...not much really and hardly a strain on the brain.....

Bravo, its a Gilera Runner SP125 MY01 that has been fitted with a big bore kit, racing reed, larger carb, air filter.
The original 125 gearing/variator remains, and the bike goes like sh*t off a shovel. I've kept it totally standard looks wise, as I'd rather not attract the attention!
You see shed loads of hardryers flying up and down the road, the 16yr olds riding them feeling like pros. I used to have a Zip 50 (piaggio) but it was slow, and it feels dangerous - you dont have the acceleration to zoom out of situations - the main reason I got a 125. Its got a top speed of about 85, but it gets there in about 10-15 seconds. We arent talking Hyabusa, but far from slow.

LOL nice one
Came across an absolute nutter of a lory driver coming the other way this morning, he drove across the white lines by about 2-3 feet at motorbike in front of me and myself, we werent even filtering, just riding in the lane. He was leaning out of his cab and shouting like mad and and doing the w@nker sign at us. Couldn't belive he did this, we hadn't done anything wrong at all and he nearly took out several cars behind us as well
The bloke was a psycho
Oh and this was no 7.5 tonner, this was the full on 40 tonne artic! Wish it had been caught on camera as it would have been on police camera action the bloke was that dangerous in what he did

So anyway - I was thinking of getting a mod for the car (apart from the bubble generator). I think a loud speaker system that repeatedly plays "I'm sorry mate I didn't see you" everytime my wing mirror inadvertantly gets in the way of a biker.
Whaddya think?
Oh - and shouldn't we move this one to the Bikers forum...?

Sitting behind a lorry and the guy got out the cab and told (shouted) me to move my bike as he was reversing. I (probably too cockily) said not having reversing lights is illegal mate - looked like he was gonna smack me one - I mean come on! Its just bloody dangerous - thats all!
Yes bikes can move more easily but you dont stop in the middle of a busy 'A' road to reverse!

Scooter riders LOL. I blame Jamie Oliver for making scooters 'trendy' again. Lethal bloody things IMO.
I've taken to riding my bike with the lights on full beam as I'm fed up with being apparently invisible, even though I'm riding a 1600cc Cruiser with straight through pipes If anyone flashes me I give them a wave. As least I know they've seen me coming

Not at all...On average I get into about 5 traffic jams a week so I've used to it, it's par the course for where I work, just I wouldn't want to be the person(s) who's wingmirror/car they clip and damage while hairing down the middle.
If they're gonna do that, at least use the hard shoulder, they can do no damage to other sensible road users there.

if you are having near misses and the bikers are on the white lines then you are sitting way over to the right of your lane and not in the middle at all and deliberately trying to make them pul back in or knock them off
Fact is there are responsible and irresponsible bikers in the same way that there are responsible and irresponsible car drivers. That's life - if you can't stand the heat stay off the roads.

well i have been to London and seen what ALL the bike riders are like and i think they're all as bad as each other. As a pedestrian it was the bikes and not the cars i was more wary of hitting me!!!
Edited to correct Bravo-I don't think Basingstoke is the same as the New Forest somehow. Get your facts right.

I only said I refused to if it was dangerous - I trust you pay more attention to your biking than you do to your reading..
And you said it yourself "Why should I be held up becuase two drivers are blocking me"
Check your post - I really didn't put the words into your mouth. My point is, if they're blocking you then tough - wait.
If you really get so wound up biking then maybe you should paint daisies on the petrol tank to calm yourself down...? Perhaps light a couple of theraputic incense sticks and strap them to your helmet? I hear lavender is very soothing.....
And how do you stand on the whole issue of drivers blowing bubbles out of the windows in traffic jams?

Damian what ya go then? I quite like those scooters they do now in full on bike racing colours If I lived in London I'd have one to travel about on, no good for 40 miles of mostly motorway commuting tho
Blue and Stefanie I agree with you on your points raised.
LOL @ WWSD
