Roll up, roll up (Excuse the pun!)

Tickets for stickymickey v's greasemonkey.

For my tuppence worth, I wouldn't be getting in a car with a rollcage if it wasn't welded in.

Surely there must be a high risk of the bolts shearing and causing more harm than good.

I for one don't want to be reading the afore mentioned post about a fellow scoobynetter being killed, regardless of anyones views about a bloody rollcage!!

Take it easy guys!

Is your safety, and that of others who ride in your car really something to laugh out loud about?

its staying put, if i roll my car without that cage, imo im gonna be a lot worse off so it stays
Are you going to tell any passengers who ride in your car that people have told you that the cage is potentially dangerous? How loudly would you be laughing if one of your friends ended up getting skewered by it?

You might not be bothered by the thought of us reading a "Scooby driver killed by duff roll cage" thread, but what about "Scooby passenger left with brain damage after hitting head on duff roll cage"? Would you like to be around after an accident like that?

You may have to take it out in any case when your phone your insurance company tomorrow and they tell you about the increase in premium the cage will attract. Don't forget that you're technically driving uninsured until you tell them about it - which is both illegal, and rather silly.

lmao
cheers for the "advice/slating" lol
We're not "slating" you Micky, we're giving you the benefit of our experience, something you'd be well advised to take on board. It must be galling to hear that your bargain isn't what you thought it was, but sooner or later you may as well realise that safety issues aren't a laughing matter.

If you choose to ignore what we've said, it is of course your option, but how loud will you be laughing if your new addition ends up with either you, or even worse, someone else, in a wheelchair, or a coffin? Still laughing?

Roll cage Manufacturers can came down now.

Mikey may have bought the same type of cage that was fitted to my STI 5 Type R LTD at manufacture.

This is a genuine STI part No.ST5600055220 ROLL BAR 6P

I have the Paperwork to prove this.

All in Japanese text off course.

From what I can make out. Tubing is 40mm dia. 2mm thick with 5mm foam padding.

BTW. FAK the roll over protection.

Anyone who's driven it reckons it feels more solid on the road than a car without.

Even if it is a POSE.

I havent got a cage but I am a member of a Rally rescue Crew that sees alot of competitors saved by weld in triangulated cages. That are properly designed. If Mickey is using his cage for showing off (GOING TO A CRUISE) then he has probably bought a bargain even if it is a life threatening addition. His choice guys but the worst thing is a motorist thinking safety is a laughing matter. Wonder if he is the sort of motorist that thinks his driving licence is a right and not a priviledge. Hey guys maybe he has already suffered the head injury when he fitted it and thats why common sense isnt engaging. Why would we wanna hear about his death or a passengers death on here when all he can do is brag about something he clearly knows nothing about and if we can all remember the name of this thread. How did us lot miss this. Simple Answer We had our brains engaged before opening our wallets. Question for you What on Earth made you buy it?????? By the way I am selling a MoMo Airbag steering wheel on Ebay for only £2 airbag only used once. Never raced or Rallied. Might need a wipe to remove blood stains. Mickey i can let you have it for a £1.

Don't forget to phone your insurance company!

Doesn't sound like it. You sound like you've about as much sense as the idiot who broke onto the track at Silverstone. Still, suppose that means there's less risk of brain damage. Lol @ JF, BTW

mickey i am not slating you and i would never say"i told you so"
just trying to help and keep you safe, some peeps on here (me included) slag off the max power crew for the $hit jobs they do modding their cars well thats just what you have done to ya scooby.
a crap UNSAFE mod.

i had a clients car returned this afternoon for a rebuild , he was out racing his car yesterday , clipped a rock, the car ended up hitting a tree at about 90mph roof first .
the car is a clasic scooby ,the thing that saved him was a properly fitted weilded in roll cage he is slightly brused but will be going to work today , somthing i hope you can do if you have a crash.
he does now need a new crash helmit as his has a large dint in the front and side from the inpact with the roll cage and it was padded to the correct spec.

love & hug
gaz

I have seen the cage Mickey has in and it IS a subaru cage, they were a factory option on the RA and TYPE R in Japan.... FACT!

Mickey if you like it keep it but get it bolted in!

If you want to sell it for what you paid for it I will have it today

I know Alyn at AS-PERFORMANCE is building a group N car (94 RA) for a customer at the moment and it has this cage in but he has made a few alterations to it to meet the regs.

I think I would listen to Alyn, a man that builds rally cars for a living over a bunch of IT nerds that couldn’t put a wheel on and a copper.

Mick, pop down and see him for an opinion on your cage, he will also be able to help on fitting it properly.

All in my opinion

jonny

Possibly why it took only minutes to "fit" and explains the response to the query about bolts.

"Micky" I hope will take Alyn's advice and that he considers you got a bargain.

Scoobynet should be a place where information and knowledge are shared. Its a shame that constructive advice so often deteriorates into a slanging match

StickyMicky,

It might be an idea to learn how to spell yourself before slagging off other respected members of Scoobynet for poor spelling.

HOW many spelling mistakes in your last post??? LOL

[wasting breath]so it isnt bolted in yet either. how scary are you.

From your question about the floor plates its clear you havnt a clue about how a roll cage works. Some of us are IT nerds, some of us have 20 years experience in Rallying including surviving major offs in the forest, or building cars that could survive these impacts.

I helped work on one guys GroupA rally car a few years back, my friend welded in the cage, he ran this in the RAC rally, donegal etc. A couple of years prior to this he had a now banned from motorsport cage in his car, it snapped and went into his leg on impact. He now walks with a limp and crutches. Enjoy your new toy, please get it fitted properly at least.

Have you called your insurance company yet?[/wasting breath]

steve sti

has the irony of the spooling gag gone over your head as well

jf
the cage was not bolted to the floor of the car, as i was unsure about weather or not i was going to even leave it in the car

the cage was built up to see if it was possible to live with it on a day to day basis, this IS NOT a forest rally car, this is my daily driver that sees drag strips and will be seeing track days in due course (once i have finnished uprating the brakes)

i have no need what so ever for sum mad works cage that has diagnol bars running all over the shop, i am not stupid enough to go drilling big dirty holes all over the car, before reliseing that i cant infact live with the thing after all, and end up with aditional work cover up these holes, that would be totaly stupid.

at this moment in time
the main hoop is in the car but leing down against the back seats, the rear bars are not installed at all, niether are the fronts, the rear seats are out and the front bars are lieing along the rear seat

its really scarey to drive, them bars could hit me when i crash or sumthing

then again i could crash into sumthing which comes through the windscreen and slices of half of my head.

the insurance company has not been rang, i see no need when its not fully installed, i do not think it will be much of a problem due to my cover anyways, and if it is, then if it increases i will pay the increase, whats the big deal??

once again i am sitting here wondering wtf is going on lol
where did i say that it took minuites to fit??

ot took me fackin ages to even get the center hoop in place due to it fitting so tightly??

i belive i posted sumthing along the lines of "it might take you longer then 30 mins as it took me ages to fit mine"?
this was in responce to sumbody elses post about a removable cage

this board is really crap lol

The thing is Sticky, nobody really can tell if it's an Ironic comment or not when you make spelling or grammatical mistakes in a large number of your posts.

Maybe you should go to evening classes instead of attending "Cruises" with your other illiterate mates, if you have any with your attitude.

People started to post on this thread with the best intentions, offering you possibly invaluable advice that COULD save your life at the end of the day. With the comments you have been making, you will make yourself far more enemies than friends.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Period.

Maybe one day you will realise that people were trying to give you useful advice time and time again but you chose to show your sheer arrogance by ridiculing their comments.

So sad.....

Mate, get it bolted in, pad it, enjoy. consider harnesses as a minimum, seats & harnesses even better. pc plod doesn't like helmets on the road in a car for some reason...

The Road Rally brigade down here run cage/seat/harness but can't wear helmets on the road... we're pretty lucky to get away with it i suppose... reckon it must be down to proper padding as 80% of the boys run 6 point cages round here (hardcore Welsh territory) and maybe 40% of them have an off on some events...

just my 2p worth...

Owain.
