Pete

Since when did our geometry setting increase scrub? The most we have ever specified is 1mm of toe-in and on a WRX our figures are much less. Isn't the dyno supposed to account for this anyway?

As you state, the biggest factor will be ambient temperature and it's influence on intake temps, particularly on a rolling road. Some recent logs we've seen actually show increases of water temperature of 5 degrees in the last few seconds of a dyno run as the cooling system is getting too little airflow

Also, what new EcuTeK features have you pushed forward?

Out of interest, what was the outcome of the back to back last weekend?

Regards

Mike

An update as promised, the 2 cars that where originally done with the TEK 3 (Custom Map) have now been re-done.
Pat came to Liverpool on Monday and spent in excess of 5 hours re-mapping the 2 cars in question which are know transformed.

The first car managed quicker spool up which was put down to the Janspeed up-pipe being narrower then the H+S version but the second car could handle a lot more ignition advance over the first one.

The 2 cars are now as they should have been when they were first mapped, the difference is amazing, the first 3 gears are scary with 3rd feeling like second but with the added velocity. The major downside for me was that my MAF sensor was proven to be causing too much fuel on idle and subsequently couldnt be mapped.

I ordered a replacement on Tuesday but at £320 + Vat for a new one i have only just recovered from the shock and as such a remap is now on hold.

Hi Zippy

The differences in the two cars are interesting but its not so much that the bigger up pipe could take more advance, more that it needed more advance to not feel flat. The Janspeed up pipe is the exact same diameter as the feed into the turbo, so a bigger up pipe would be a backwards step.

It will be interesting to see how the cars now compare to Russ' car and the PPP car, when you get a chance to compare.

Mike

Amongst the things that Steve has done for us are ability to set the advance multiplier (rather than let it learn), User Tuner on STis, over-run fuelling control (for anti lag) and we have encountered numerous previously unknown ecus that have now been added to the EcuTek rom library. There are other things being worked on, but you'll just have to wait for your updates to find out what they are

Cool

I'll sing nowt but highs for the TEK3...I had the setup done by Pat and Scoobysport and me motor goes like stink. Had a Sti8 on the M5 a few weeks back and it still pulls like a train in hot weather - prob due to large turbo and diff IC + waterspray.

Also, no det at all, even hard thrash in top according to me xxx monitor!

The MY03 PPP was very disapointing. The new TEK3'd cars are now storming! I have driven one and the difference is amazing - the turbo spools up faster than a dawes and pushes right up to 1.25 bar. They now have the 'punch' that I was looking for and manage to hold it right up to 7k. Outstanding!!

Strange question to ask then Mike

Russ

The downpipe and the airfilter are no mystery as they are the same as a standard STi. But with the up pipe in place as well, EGTs are going to be very, very hot. It can be done, but the safety margins and spool up aren't as good.

The turbo spool up was ridiculously quick and the ECU backs off when the temp gets too high. The point I was making is that I didnt think it was possible to achieve that amount of airflow on catted cars and that the pre-requisite for a decent Tek3 is not neccessarily a full-decat.

I cant wait to order one for mine just as soon as my warranty is up! I hate to have the carrot deangled
