out washing me scoob one day, (almost everyday when I first got it actually!) and a father came to pick up his son from the childminders next door.
"look dad" says the little lad, as his father bundles him into some nodescript rep-mobile,
"that mans car is tons faster than yours"
I looked at the father, smiling. He looked at me knowingly, and said, " thanks son, that makes me feel so inferiour!"
HEHE, we had to laugh at the kids openness.

I had all kinds of questions from the 'red hand gang' in our street. The conversation went like this:

Them: "Your car's well wicked"
Me: "yeah... thanks, it's an Impreza you know"
Them: "It's an STi Impreza mister, does it go fast?"
Me: "Don't know, only had three hours"
Them: "Does it have a dump valve?"
Me: "er... dunno, what's one of them?"
Them:"Does it have NOS"
Me:"What's NOS? Isn't it time you were in bed?"
Them:"You know nothing... but your car's still wicked"

They trundle off with me feeling like the school dunce. Worst bit though was as they wandered off I heard one of them saying my wife's car was better - MR2 better than a Scoob... they know nothing!

Cool

Don't get many kids appreciating the Corrado, they don't know what it is mostly. Get a lot of older lads showing approval though. Still turns heads on the road too, might be the Scorpion decat burbling.

Just spent 10 minutes cleaning Harryboys drool off the door from the Huddersfield meet last night, LOL. (Only joking Chris).

When i got my scooby, about 3mths ago, went to York to fetch her, had arranged to pick her up on the saturday, but my m8 who was taking me had a wedding reception night before, so thought best idea collect it friday, so made the arrangments, then on Friday morning told my youngest that i would pick him up from school, all i got was "Ah dad i'll be with me mates" tough, be at the front.
Well got the scoob, parked outside the school(with sweetie bag)waited for him then as i seen him come out, he saw the scoob and shouted "my dads got the scooby" well all the parents turned and looked then and all his mates came running over, gis a ride, go on gis aride... so i quickly jumped in the scoob with my lad and slowly, i might add drove up the street with all his mates chasing me, daft sods i ask ya....lol and best bit is mines only a SPORT, but hey they don't know that....

Cool

Just reminded me of one time we were at a meet (nice little gathering of scoobs parked up in line) which was an auto test thing. Anyway dad walks by with kid hand in hand we notice the youngster has a subaru hat on......
Another scooby pulls up just infront of him & he goes coooor dad look a subaru then as car pulls into our group the little fellas head slowly turned to see this mass of scoobies to his side, wee bugger nearly fell clean over & took his old man with him followed by standing there going
Another good un was driving to JAPS the other week went past a group of boy/cub scouts being walked with their leader down the road, 1st scooby drives by (convoy of a good dozen or so scoobies) & the lad goes cor look a subaru (type R with full decat & flames did get their attention)then as they see a few more drive by & stop at traffic light they all turn round & go WOW there's loads of 'em & then hear his mate go yeah they must be going to a rally lmao i felt it was only polite to give 'em a good blast from zaust when lights went green hope we didnt damage too many young ear drums lol

Cool

Usually get favourable comments, however as I was walking back to my car parked at the side of the street, a youth and his dad (about 50) were looking and pointing. As I got near the dad said "is that the new Impreza?" Son replied "yeah, I preferred the old model when it was a saloon not a hatchback". Then they walked passed and the son goes "and that front ends awful, theyve ruined it". I nearly fell on the floor laughing.
What an ignorant git. My car is an MY02 wagon lol

I over heard two girls talking as they walked past my house, and then one of them said 'so Thats where it lives then' I guess they must have seen me out and about

Today was hilarious, I got completly thrashed by two lads in a Smart Car on the Motorway, I couldnt keep up, and the pair of them were pi55ing their sides as they overtook me (that will be one story that will be told down the pub for quite a while)

Oh today I was in a GX Wagon Courtesy Car from the Dealers, an Automatic too, lovely car to drive, just very little guts

Top ****-take story_
I went to pick my kid up from school. He passed me a letter given to him by another lad which said-"........'s mum,I would like to buy your Impreza for a fiver.I would take it round rallying, put it in 5th and pop the exhaust.By the way,I will pay you in cash!!"
I don't know whether it was a praise or a ****-take but it was funny!

Had the usual "nice car mate" - followed by a foot down thrash and the kids waving from the back of their parents cars - followed by a wave and a flash (lights) :cheeky:

And a couple of kids have even offered to wash it for free LOL! I would have said yes but i enjoy doing that myself too much

Funny story from earlier today: My 3 y/o was playing with some friends, one of the older lads (about 6) said "Im going to sell my bike and get a better one" My boy says "Yeh, were going to sell the SCOOBY and buy an EVO" LMAO!!! My wife overheard and cried laughing when she was telling me.

Once pulled into the carpark at the local leisure centre, parked up and headed into the place with a mate. Bunch of guys & girls in early teens who were hanging around came over and started commenting on the car, asking about it etc and they took no time in asking for a shot (passenger ride of course!)

At first I was reluctant but decided why the hell not, a few mins won't hurt. 5 of them got in (4 in the back!), gave it a goot booting round this big deserted car park which quite impressed them before parking up and heading into the leisure centre. Came back out about 2 hours later and they were still there wanting another shot . Had to decline that time though, I don't think they'd be quite as impressed with me driving it under 2000RPM until the engine warmed up

Sat at some tempory traffic lights tonight behind a Gold 52 plate WRX I was in MY99 Silver Turbo. Thre lads walking past stoped and looked at us frantically looking at both cars then pointed at the bug eye with the thumbs down then pointed at me with two thumbs up. The lights changed to green so i let the bugeye go a bit and gave the lads a flat four rumble!!! I think I must be getting sad but I felt good.
PS I Like bug eyes so this isn't a dig.

Got a new variation last night - two lads, no more than eight years old advised that my car is 'phat!' (?!? - is that good ?). They also suggested that I get it 'NOS'd' !

get it loads around my area, the lads i give a thumbs up and floor it and the birds i give a wink and just cruise on bye

best one is when i was in my local texaco talking to a mate and two girls (about 17-18) came over and said

girls: "is that your Subaru??"
me: "yep"
one of the girls: "will you take me out for a ride (giving me a cheeky grin) in it"
me: "depends on what kind of ride you mean"
girl: "i'll hold you to that!!"

then they walked off and me and my mate were pi$$ing ourselves!!!!

I had a nice chat with the "sainsburys to you" man last week when I was washing my car and he dropped off some shopping for the girlfriend. He was very complimentary about the motor and we spent a good 10 minutes chatting about scoobies in general.

I remember when I was a young lad and how disappointing it was when I showed interest in or respect for an impressive car, and the owner would ignore me. It always seemed very rude to me.

We get loads of lads around here who are impressed with the Scooby and they show surprising knowledge as well. I am only too pleased to acknowledge them. Its quite enjoyable to chat to them about mods to the car.

Nobody has even given my **** or my cars priase (was a MY96 wagon and now a MY95 WRX).

I have had the two finger and single finger waves some of the time though for some reason.

I remember first taking what I thought was my nice new white wagon with gold 17s to work and all I got was "ughh I don't like estate cars".

And when I got the WRX my boss said "That looks a bit tame and it sounds funny".

Had it quite a lot in both Scoobs (more so in the new one with its subtle mods).

When we were in Germany a few weeks back for the WRC, we were in Sal's Dad's car - a very nice silver classic on Prodrive OZ alloys, Leda suspension, STIV rear wing, Scoobysport exhaust etc. We had a guy taking photos with his camera phone from the back of the car in front of us on the autobahn.

Also (I did laugh..), I got asked for my autograph by a German kid whilst standing next to the car at the hotel. Broken English from the kid was 'Are you here for the rally?' - Yes. I guess he thought I was competing (I wish..) - I didn't have the bulls to actually sign anything though LOL

I was following a Max Power type XR3i a few weeks ago (well, it may have been a regular CVH 1.3 for all I knew), with its foglights on.

Stopped alongside at the traffic lights, and saw him looking at the car, so wound the window down and asked, nicely, if he'd mind turning the foglights off.

"They're not on mate"
"Oh yes they are"
"Oh, thanks mate, I've just tried the switch and the light inside it must've gone! Wondered why people had been flashing me! Gorgeous car you've got there!"

Cool, I thought, mission accomplished!

Got 2 little stories

1. I recently went upto Hartlepool in my new STI8, and everyone was shouting and waving and i got chatted up by many pretty girls.. It was quite nice ... I was staying at a friends and his neighbour asked if i would like to park my car on his drive so that it wasnt on the road .. About 15mins after i had parked it on the drive i came out to find 7 people all with cameras taking snaps of it lol .. was quite shocked !!

2. Was driving down Eastern Road in Portsmouth and there is abit where its becomes a dual carrage way with lights .. national limit.. need i say more .. anywho... i pulled up in the inside lane as the lights were red.. sterio up .. I was in my old 98 Turbo 2000 .. which basically had konis, 17"wheels.. and a blitz exhaust.. But i had engine mods and was pushing about 260bhp... anyway.. this really really nice lookin scoob came screaming up and stoped to my right... i looked across to do the usual scooby hello.. and i got a snear back from a young lad who i would say looked about 18-19 anyway i checked out his car... and it was v nice.. 18"s .... Body kit.. and STI badges.. so i thought... ****.. but well played.. he then looked across sneared again... and started to really rev his engine... .. It didnt sound right.. no dump valve... spend that much on a car and not do the engine a bit seemed. weird... then i looked closely at the breaks.. .. there where little things.. .. it suddenly dawned on me that the little ****e .. might be driving a very nice looking SPORT ... And me being fairly young looking i assumed he must have thought mine was a sport too... Until i reved and gave off a HUGE dumpvalve sound... at the same time i smirked at him and watched his face drop.... Lights when amber .. he roared off.. i stayed long side him for a bit... looked across.. waved and booted it

Fun FUn FUn .. made my day
