Ignore the EBAY link in my above post. the guy is selling
9800 pro 'Special Edition'. a Google search reveals that it is a
4 pipeline jobbie (i.e. not the usual 8) - thought it was too
good to be true

Got a reply from the top firm

Dear Si

Thank you for your e-mail.

Because we trade exclusively over the internet are prices are as low as we can get them and so unfortunately we are unable to offer a discount.

However if you were to place an order you would save on carriage because you would only be charged £2.99 EX VAT no matter how many cards you bought.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.

What do people want too do?

Si

Above dude, pcnextday are cheaper than any group buy arranged with other companies, so therefore i'd say go with them and place orders individually if you want one, no point having all the effort of a group buy to save £2.99 postage.

This way also means that we can buy when we're ready and there is nothing to be gained from "getting one now because they're cheap on a group buy".

Cool - Microdirect ATI Rad 9800 Pro 128MB DDR 8x AGP +DVI +TV out Retail - £269inc VAT, and it's just down the road so no P&P.

Try emailing them, I'm sure they'd do a group buy, I know they do student discount.

why not just buy online when you want for £268 inc vat?

surely you'll want to get £250inc vat to make a group buy worth the effort?

all i'm getting at is that people are less likely to make a purchase on a group buy unless they're getting a significant discount.
