Possible name change imminent.

Certain burger chain may take umbrage to use of original title.

Watch this space for details.

I will be there !

Not sure about the £10 for passenger wristband though, some might be a little pissed off if they do not get many laps having shelled out the cash ! I am happy to take passengers out, but if my son is with me most of my laps will be with him, which will obviously preclude others.
A voluntary donationation might be better - just my opinion.

Aye, I second CT's point - this is balderdash

It goes against everything I (we) have been trying to sort w.r.t. PAX laps at SIDC events.

What we have done previosuly when asking moeny for passenger laps is to ask for £5 for each set of passenger laps, and up to £10 for "premium" cars. We even offered £40 "worth" of tickets for £25 as a special offer. We had no shortage of people signing up, and all thought it was good value.

However, the admin on the day is a bit of a nightmare with all the different tickets/cars etc, so this time we thought it would be simpler to have just a single charge per person.

The last time we did an event, we made it "donations only" - the downside is that lots of people literally only put a few pence into the pot, and people standing behind them in the queue saw this and did the same, despite us suggesting that £5 would be a suitable donation. We did manage to raise a few hundred pounds eventually though, compared to the £1k plus raised on previous events.

Drivers prepared to take out passengers, were entitled to one free passenger wristband - though most decided to donate the £5 suggested anyway

If everything works out as we would like it, then people who make a donation in exchange for a wristband, will get access to more things than just passenger laps - we are hoping that we might get things like the skid pan, and even karting as well - all for unlimited use, which to me makes it seem great value for money. Once we have these details confirmed, we'll confirm the suggested donation.

John I think this is a mistake.

I am unsure what the personal liability implications might be and am not prepared to take a chance on it.

You may have already considered the legal side of this and I could be way off the mark with my comment about liability, however I will not take out any paying passengers.

Ed

You probably put it better than me, I will be there regardless and if it is a donation then I will be available for pax laps, otherwise I will be on my own or with my son.

Would a wrisband with a raffle prize number on it get round this problem?

We are still in discussion with some vendors/dealers who I am sure could put up some goodies for us?

It is indeed a voluntary donation. There is no charge to get a wristband - simply someone collecting donations to charity.

Just found out recently that there is always a few laps at the end of the track session when the cars just drive round the track for a few laps, no racing, just single file

Will we be able to do a "drive round" @ the Mc Big One?!

Scoty

The cruise round the track thing is usually at the end of the day on the big Hot Hatch events Knockhill run now and again. Basically a track invasion of everything in the area with wheels. My young daughter Skye has even had her Barbie Jeep on it. She even passed a Scooby :-)

I'd be more than happy to donate some Video/VCDs of SIDC track days to help make up Raffle prizes. Just going through some of the video footage from the last one and can't beleive how fast that Radical was. Its my birthday in September, so would be more than happy with one, hint hint.

Very quick reply, for a Scooby driver :-)

Skye has started School so will get a bit more time to go through the last SIDc day video. Certainly have some stuff of you and Paul near the end when I followed you for three or four laps, you probably didn't notice me as I was tucked in under your bumper. The side Video camera was a nice position and got some good footage including two of my spins at the chicane and one of another Elise spinning at the hairpin right in front of me. The quality of the helmet camera footage was not quite as good but still got some nice shots. Its just a lower resolution camera designed for basic security stuff.

Iain,

Look forward to getting a copy from you sometime soon. Hope the first day at school went just fine for young Skye. My two started in P3 and P5 today and I'm offshore...so Mum has enjoyed a quite day at home.
