please excuse my useless input here but who in there right mind would buy a scooby with "G ready" exhaust, and "under brace" handling kit and a "window screen display" ??

dosenöffner: Not sure whose comments you were reading on the "other" thread, but my underlying view was exactly the same as this one - once a private sale is concluded the buyer is on his own.

My views too. Exaclty the same thing happened to me when I bought a car. Tough ******* to me. I sucked the bill. I went private because it's cheaper in the first place.

His ad is dubious. Only ten miles from me so I'll pop around at the weekend and see what work has been done or needs doing.

Sounds like he's just trying to get some more dosh out of you. Keep a copy of the ad for a while.

Its only ten miles from me as well! ha ha haaaa.

The Ad also says CAT D. Forgive me if I've misinterpreted but doesn't this mean crash repaired?

But are you 20 miles from me?

A train leaves Pitsburgh at 1730 carrying 30 passengers traveling at 53 mph...

Joy's of private sales! I'm buying a turbo 2000 off a mate, and only buying private cause know how much he care's for it, but would never dream of asking him to contribute if it goes bang soon. You'd even have problems getting a dealer to contribute, let alone a private sale! Change your phone number!!!!

Unhappy

that's my view but i m very depressed that my beloved ex-scoob had to end up like this.

running cost, mods and maintenance during my ownership period ran to slightly more than 10k (exc insurance!) took it ot trax last year and loads of runs (which we know that it was driven hard). buyer knows all of these as i didnt even try to hide anything bad abt the car.

i do agree i dont know how the car was driven but just plain depressed that it has to end like this. the funny thing is buyer told me that his garage told him that they've got loads of STi's blowing up but that is not my concern isnt it? how abt all those stis which didnt blow up?

thanks ppl.

i do have sympathy but told him that as a private seller, regardless of blowing in 3 days or 3 weeks, it not my liability. i would help in sourcing for parts and cheap garages but contrbuting seems not too just on my part. sad that it had to end like this.

for those north wales scooby nutters and noe=rth west who knows me, they know how much money i've spent on the car and treated it better than my other half!

scooby96

reply to quote 'not high rev on mway'

to elaborate, i explained that the type r has close ratio box and shoulnt be driven at sustained high speed, meaning near redline. short bursts are ok but given a period of long high revs, there is a risk that it would blow. the type r is geared for acceleration and not sustained high speed driving using UK fuel and conditions unless mapping has been done to serve that purpose. i even gave buyer a spare ECU i bought for the purpose of having a separate map which i didnt get round to completing.

i do rev it to redline for traffic light grand prix as i enjoy the sheer acceleration but usually keep at 80-90 at mway with the flow (moreover, too noisy at high revs) all these were from advice of people who have driven different scoobs and enthusiasts.

in addition, i left all the audio in so that buyer can enjoy mway crusing (system costed £2k!) and can be taken out for track days.

i have spent so much effort and time on her and to see her blow like that but guess thats life and fate. sometimes sh*t happens. i sold the car in absolute good faith believing that buyer would continue my legacy in finding the ultimate driving/ handling experience.

my mods are from research on this forum as i have upgraded all the suspension handling work (some tuner once told me that good handling shaves off seconds compared to big bhp on track) and left the engine std except for induction kit, exhaust system and samcos and were planning to get mapping done later on. evidence is i have purchased a elec memory Greddy air/fuel meter even before any meddling were done to the engine. boost is left std as the normal type r is usually quick enuff off the line.

so hope this clarify things further.

have to agree TOTALLY with greasemonkey..!!

korky have you ever heard of an AA or RAC inspection... If YOU notice a fault then you only have yourself to blame..!!! i mean the guy who owned the car probably was not bothered it pulled to the left so why should he pay.. its not as thought the car was going to disintegrate.

Dan

javascript:more_info(200331103748782,51,'CARS',10) ;

sorry just trying to post the autotrader ad and also my private sale ad to proof that the buyer was trying to profit on the car when he said he would keep the car and continue the modding.

back to sulk now. i miss my car.
