so 60-100 is about 10 secs? Surely Scoob is quicker than that?

Go to the CTR Owners forum and ask them and they will tell you its the best car in the world, Whatever you do dont say its not or they will hunt you down and kill you.

Honda's are quite hard to get power gains from, due to the high state of tune they are in anyway. An exhaust / manifold on a CTR might get you 10 bhp, a full decat on a scoob will get you 30 - 40 bhp.

Anything with a turbo is easy to get good gains

If you meant the cup v CTR I would say the CTR.

VTEC controllers are pretty funky too. I read a few peoples comments that they had made no or -ve gains from modding a clio sport / cup. Probably fairly optimally designed as it is.

Handling wise I have no idea.

Diablo thats the one thing that would put me off buying a clio cup. Same with a Pug GTI - my mate and his dad have had problems since day one on theirs. Damn Frog cars

Mr Best.... my yawn was at this comment...

'I also work with 2 Type R owners who both agree the Cup is faster both in feel and actual speed.'

Anyone can say that!! lol I know a few Cup owners and they say the opposite.... even though I think they are similar to 80.

It was just so corny with no real weight... hense the yawn.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Saxo, I would say most of the CTR boys are actually fairly realistic... until it comes to this Clio debate... The relationship the CTR guys have with the Leon guys is one with much mutual love! As they both agree they are very similar.

Power gains wise most N/A cars are difficult and expensive to get gains from. Turbo cars are much better if you are looking to do this.

Reliability wise.... no question Japanese cars are superior to european made cars! and miles ahead of the french!

lol @ Plantie.... I'm corny????

Give me a break!

And if you feel the need to rudely yawn on the forum, get your boring a$$ to bed mate.

You obviously haven't driven a Cup and all you can see through your blinkered rose-tinted spectacles is your Type R wonderland.....

Real sad....

I have driven a cup as I was considering buying one. I think the Cup is a great car and I dont live on any Type-R wonderland.

My leon line was corny but as you had set the atmosphere.... hey why not?

And for being rude??? I dont see how a Yawn is being rude but hey...

Besides who's getting personal?? You're right I am sad.. because I try to help people who pose questions to those with relevant knowledge.

Perhaps you should stop making assumptions and try to add some value to this thread??!

That's the whole point of these threads.... OPINIONS!!! If there wasn't a difference of opinions it would be very boring.
IMHO I don't think anybody can drive two simular cars eg CTR/Cup and say that one is definatley faster than the other. Cause all cars put the performance feeling across differently eg.. Ride hight, engine noise, N/A, Turbo/supercharged etc...
The only way I generally decide the diffence is if the two cars are put head to head in a mamouth test with simular drivers. Or if one of your mates has the other car and you've had extensive races with him....

Maybe it's just me.....

but whats corny about

I work with 2 Type R owners who both agree the Cup is faster both in feel and actual speed.
I fail to see how this sets a corny "atmosphere"?

Aren't people allowed opinions any more?

And if you don't consider a "Yawn" to be rude then theres nothing I can do, nor wish to do to improve your manners.
I think that most posters on the forum will agree that a 'yawn' response is nothing but rude, hence the reply you instigated from George Best.

And believe me, I don't make assumptions. If you wish to do a search on any of my previous posts on this board you'll see the basis of my opinions are usually if not always based on knowledge of the topic or experience of it, not assumptions.

Have a nice day.

I apologise I thought that was an assumption.....

I haven't said anywhere you are not allowed to voice your opinion??? All I have been saying is something that is different to you, and as such disagreeing.

btw - For someone who talks about manners you may need to take a look at your own, before you go playing mentor! ->>>

get your boring a$$ to bed mate. & all you can see through your blinkered rose-tinted spectacles is your Type R wonderland.....
Real sad....

What is funny is you saying go look at my previous posts... why would I be interested in doing that? I have been on Scoobynet for a while now and more than likely have added more value through unbaised opinions than could hope to! Fell free to trawle through mine... you may learn something!

Oh, and have a good day to you too sir!

Just the mere fact that whenever these cars are mentioned in the same thread, the discussion always get quite heated, and therefore shows that these cars are very closely matched performance wise, some say cups are faster others ctr. In the realworld, its down to driver and road conditions. So I'd conclude that both cars are pretty much the same.

You'll never see a thread go more that 1 page if comparing the performance of a FSO Polonez to a WRX....

indeed Jon. thats my point. both are very evenly matched and both good value for money.

Depends what you want from the car in the end.

Am I not entitled to respond with

get your boring a$$ to bed mate
when you rudely yawn at my post, thus dismissing it?

I asked...
Aren't people allowed opinions any more?
with reference to "I work with 2 Type R owners who both agree the Cup is faster both in feel and actual speed."

and in reply you said
Anyone can say that!!lol I know a few Cup owners and they say the opposite
If that isn't slating and dismissing an individual's opinion then what is?

And BTW, you still haven't explained what makes this comment corny, giving you cause to yawn?

You should accept the different opinions of others rather than dismissing them, "yawning" rudely.

And believe me, when you say
I have been on Scoobynet for a while now and more than likely have added more value through unbaised opinions than could hope to! Fell free to trawle through mine... you may learn something!
"a while now"?
2 years? what difference does this make?

"have added more value through unbiased opinions than could hope to(?)"
If you think so.

And I don't think I could learn much from you. With all due respect.

Ok to cover the Yawn comment off for you.... I percieved your comment as same old, same old. The CTR v's Cup topic has been covered extensively on almost every car forum I know. General conlcusion is that they are both evenly matched, prior to higher speeds. Your comment reference two people you worked with holds no weight... pointless really... as was my follow up reference a few of my friends.

I didn't say 2yrs made a difference?? another assumption on your part! IMO, length or post count doesn't mean a great deal... you only know your worth if people come to you directly on a number of issues for help/advice etc... And for the good of the board I have always been happy to try and help.

Anyhow I have better things to do than entertain any more of your responses... obviously we both run on different wave lengths so probably best to keep to them.

Thank you for the light amusement over the last few days.

and feel free to grab the last word if it makes you feel content.

CTR and Cup would be pretty much evenly matched.

I know which I'd rather own over the course of 2 or 3 years though, and it isn't french

Regarding a CTR against a Scoob, well on a dry circuit driven at 100% by a competant driver then a CTR maybe quicker than some 'lesser' Scoobs, but for 90% of people, 90% of the time a Scoob is going to be quicker A-B.

There you go, end of story.

hehehe always so much bickering between 'rival' sides of the fence. As I cross manufacturers regularly I don't have such a narrow view of the world. Mind you I'll always be a big fan of Hondas, yeah people can take the **** going on about smelling of ****, old people, bread vans, no torque etc etc etc... but Honda really know about engines and from any petrolhead they deserve the utmost admiration. The CTR certainly was the 'scorching-hatch' of the moment and to a certain extent the clio cup has trodden on its toes. This can only be good for all of us because this competition can only mean faster, better, more fun machines. Celebrate both cars and look forward to the future developments!

Unhappy

An R500 would whip them both - big deal

Would have thought the insurance quotes for Cup would be higher due to its lack of basic safety systems - just my 2p for what i don't know.
