u should feed her b4 bed time about 1 hr before cause a puppy will sleep better on a fully tummy. common knowledge that is. if the puppy wees on the floor pick it up and pop it outside and stand with it until its confident enough to walk off on its own, Im going through it at the mo with my 4month old Bulldog, hes a pain as he was house trained but now he wee's on the floor on purpose if we lock him in the kitchen for being naughty, very vindictive dogs but sooo lovely when they are being nice
sounds like your not very good with handling dogs from half the threads Ive read, anybody whos had a puppy b4 knows very well the first night or 2 the puppy will cry and it should be ignored. I know its hard but your making life harder for yourself in the future. did the breeder give u a piece of cloth from its mams bed with her scent on it. this helps them settle down

Well Dave, thanks for that! I had never had a dog before Trev and he was a 1 year old f*cked up rescue dog when I got him (read the threads properly). Having a puppy is new to me and i'm asking for genuine advice from this bbs to help make me an even better dog owner, not for critism. I have now spoken to the dog trainer we used for Trev and have taken her advice too. She says that I am doing things right now.

Yup, we all have to learn the first time ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Sounds like you are doing just fine now![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
But I wouldn't feed her an hour before bedtime, maybe a couple of puppy biscuits though.

Personally from experience I would feed her at least an hour later at night, its an awful long time for a pup to go without food thru to the next morning.
BTW you never said why you are feeding her Tuna?

Trev has it too. It's good for their coats and also the breeder we picked her up from said that she has been giving them tuna, chicken, salmon etc. It's just a bit of variety from the bland old dried stuff and more natural than tinned, processed dog food!

Spot on with the Tuna, it's good for their coat. We give our dog a little cod liver oil in his dinner sometimes for the same reason.
We bought 'The Dog Listener' too, and I'm eagerly awaiting 'The Wife Listener' - a dog is MUCH easier to train and understand...

I would be very sceptical indeed of giving puppies anything other than proper 'puppy food'. After all, years of research and millions of pounds have gone into ensuring the right nutritional/ vitamin balance is achieved from dog food manufacturers.
Maybe a different case when they reach adulthood, but IMO the correct feeding in the first 12 months of a puppy's development is crucial.

Cod Liver tablets are used to stop the bones clicking and developing artiritis (spelling??) as for feeding a puppy tuna ,it seems a bit of a strange thing to be feeding something so rich that could easily upset their tummys. I stick to pedigree complete soaked in warm water for an hour or 2 before. the pup should be fed about 4 times a day once at 8am, 12noon, 5pm approx hen u eat??? and about 10am then if u go to bed at 11am the pup should be ready for settling down.
And as for receiving critisism u wanna read my post, think you'll find Im trying to give usful information out for the questions youve been asking. just commenting on the fact that u seem to post alot asking other peoples opinions on how to look afterr yur own dog. everybody has thier own specific little ways but there are basic rules that Im suprised u didnt know before u even picked a puppy up. its a bit obvious to know that a puppy will sleep well on a full tummy
good luck with the lil bugger, btw, bitches are known for weeing in their beds. our old bulldog did it and he was a male, u will struggle to get them out of it.

She slept through the night without an accident! Hooray!!
She's a real mardy a*se though!! Put her in her crate while I went to have a shower and she squealed the place down, wrecked her bed and tipped her food and water everywhere!! Oh well, early days still I guess!!
