Yeah I went to school with Forbes and have run about with him all my life. Stays just up the road from me. He's a great bloke and fellow biker to boot. We actully worked together as motorbike couriers for a few years and he's as mad (good) on a bike as he is in at lifting huge objects ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Dont kid yersel on that one Si ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

Si - HGH can/does increase strength, but it's not as widely used for that as for it's purely size-building properties. But the risk of elongated jaws, elbows, feet etc tend to keep all but the nuttiest bodybuilders away from it, although there are various animal versions which apparently minimise these side-effects.
As for insulin, weight-lifting's as susceptible as any sport, unfortunately...

No Tel, the insulin is to counteract the effects of actually taking growth hormone, you need to inject it if you take HGH, something to do with blood sugar obviously but nothing to do with diabetes.
Si many people take HGH to 'unlock' their normal bone structure, if I am pigeon chested 24 years old say, and I have reached my natural skeletal size then no amount of weight training can make my frame size bigger, I'd just me a more muscle bound pigeon. HGH can change this scenario.

Jye, i realise insulin is used with HGH, i was just pointing out that it isn't only limited to that; there are lots of other blood-doping uses for it apparently.
But i'm not so sure about your theory as to *why* people use HGH. As far as i'm aware, it has anabolic properties, only much stronger than most steroids. True, it's used in people with growth related issues, but for bodybuilders, i'm 99% certain it isn't taken in order to enlarge the frame, that's just an unwanted side-effect. What it does do, is pack on huge amounts of muscle tissue pretty damned quickly, if used in conjunction with traditional steroids and weight training.
Things might have changed in the years i've taken a back seat in the sport, but that's what i always understood the reason to be why bodybuilders turned to HGH...

HGH abuse and safely in the same sentence aren't compatible Si. I could post some disturbing images of extended limbs on "athletes" who've gone down this route. And it's completely irreversible, as it's bone growth. Very worrying.
As to whether it makes the bones brittle; i have no idea, but i guess that's way down on the list of concerns to be honest...

Soz Tel, misread you on the insulin there.
I may be wrong about HGH but I did get this info from those ‘in the know’ although they may have been winding me up as usual![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
I was pretty certain though that this is why HGH is administered to people with certain illnesses like Cushing's Syndrome, as it can actually unlock or re-start bone growth.
I'll ask around and find out for deffo. Perhaps I'm confusing 'real' HGH with HGH promoting amino acids etc as I'm no expert.

lol@Eddie Ellwood- surely he's 100% natural-PMSL
I really enjoyed the strongest man competition- not enough of it on TV. The BBC's coverage is top class. Roll on worlds strongest.
