I thought Porsche 944's were quick.. (scooby related!!)

So out of interest, an STi7/8 with PPP should be pretty comparable, or are we still talking up to about 100mph?

Given that there are a lot of of 944 Turbo's running about with nearly 300bhp,

P20SPD I think your driving history is worse than mine
If you want to be "boy" racers, please go to the track...
I'm not slagging off Scoobysport exhausts by the way, they are very good, it's just in real terms a Scoob with a full decat and a Scoob with pea shooters will perform no differently.

Dont want to take up the badnwith for that discussion, but the priginal poster does not run a "standard car"
As for the the 300bhp 944's :-
In respect of mine, i still maintain the same stance.
Also, there are more and more 280+ scoobs kicking about these days too.
All in good humour of course

As for a modified scoob, well that would scare the pants off one, i know mine has!

Davyboy those stats aren't THAT impressive?? Better than a standard UK but mines is faster to 60 and faster to 100mph and its not got a massive amount of mods! I'm not suprised that the poster was able to match its acceleration

Turboteeth, i dont know the rest of your history, but the one you know of me, is the only one, so assuming yours was your only driving history, that makes us even, eh
You may also take note, that since my incident i have attended a reasonable amount of "track" events, thus negating the need to utilise the horsepower of my car on the road

I wouldn't class myself as a boy racer, however, in the right circumstances, what's wrong with "having a play"?
I don't understand what the problem is - yes, if you take the moral high-ground, you shouldn't speed. However, I think the phrase "people in glass houses....." springs to mind.

Ah, the old, 'having a play' chestnut. Give up now, you'll never win If you want a play and it is safe to do so and the other driver is up for it then go for it I say - just don't tell anyone

Yeh, I guess you're right SB It's amazing how uptight people get, still, "nowt as queer as folk"
With hindsight I should've responded with
Yeh, I'dve gone faster but I dropped the mobile into my coffee and spilt it all over my laptop!!! D
but that would've just started a wind-up

As for 95mph on a public road, that is just discraceful.

944 better looking than a Scooby, don't think so. Only those that drive them and are into their cars would even now what they are and although not a 924 are still a poor mans Porker(regarded as!). My misses guessed at one being a Toyata Celica which i suppose is better than being accussed of being a Porky 944. Why didn't you get a 911?

I could get so into this thread having owned a Porsche 944 Turbo running almost 300BHP and a MY00 with 260BHP......but I won't 'cos my Audi would do them both and I'm more of a grown up than that.

My car isn't modded much at at all if you think about it. It is essentially a full exhaust and a remap that takes all of 30s to upload. It still on the original turbo and essentially the same top mount intercooler. The REAL modified scooby's have different turbo's and cooling like P20SPD's car for example. You don't have to do/spend much to a scooby to make it as quick as the 944 although I accept it is an older porka.

I am surprised that Scratch should get so uptight about Scooby handling. Surely it is all part of the car's overall ability whether it handles well or not. We all know how good a sorted Scoob is in this department, dry or wet. I think it is perfectly valid to mention it in the context of how well different cars perform.

To try and ignite the flames I'll reply again!
I do, come on, the Scoob is like a wart hog with spoilers, take them off and what do you have, a bland jap 4 door saloon
Thats why my Insurance is low, no spotty cap wearing oiks who want to pinch it!
a 40k car in 1989, cost more than a 3.2 911! and even more than a Boxster S costs now!
Becuase my car is faster, handles better and carries a set of slicks

944 is a classy looking motor, but the 968 is a lot tastier.
I'd rather have a 944 or 968 than a Sexually Transmitted Infection anyday
P20SPD - we will call it even on the crash front then, although mine was a controlled avoidance of a third party object though, whereras I recall yours was due to excess speed? Leave it at that.
Cheers.

If you were in a Silver Scooby, then, er, that might have been me I did play nicely with a Scooby last week.
Sorry if I was a litle close, my wife always tells me I'm a bit of a tailgater, but I was interested to see the difference between the two cars. I used to have a '98 Scooby but after job changes yaddah yaddah I had to sell aftera year and get something cheaper. So now come to a Porsche 944 S2 and was curious to see how it compared with my old Scooby.
I admit I was trying as hard as I could but could not close on you, but then the S2 only has 211bhp and this one has done 156,000 miles. It only cost me £6500 but has full leather and aircon and is so sooooo quiet when on the road, hardly any rattles after 14 years. Insurance is only £500 for a 37 yr old, and I doubt it will depreciate much more than this.
I still miss the Scooby flat four sound, but I'll never go back. This is a Porsche
So how much power are you supposed to have? 290? I'd beter use more than 1st and 2nd gear next time
