Davey boy,

Got me piccys back this morning so now i can prove that i saw the carerra GT, enzo etc. They came out really well. A couple of your car too. They are not great but I will get them scanned in and mail them to ya.

8.53 seems pretty quick in my eyes. I think im right in saying Daves 944 turbo does around 9.15 and by christ does he drive it fast. Maybe you are all just much much quicker than me ...haha

I imagine a 944 turbo will be quicker than me- we are talking BTG I presume?

There are times when the main straight is left open- but not on public days I presume. I've even heard that the two circuits connect and a few lucky people have got to drive both loops- the lucky sods.

Just checked my video and it's more like 8:51 according to the timecoding. Standard UK Impreza, something like 40 laps completed and some tuition from a friend who knows the place as well as his girls pudenda.

Mines 8:42 BTG, T13 closed. Yes they do open the long straight and link it on to the new circuit, for the 24 hour race and for the Scuderia course.

Davyboy, may I borrow your Porsche?

Bridge to Gantry- as you can't drive the full circuit that is the accepted way of timing yourself. Although it isn't a good idea to do it IMHO.

Davyboy, may I borrow your Porsche
Normal rules apply, if you bin it, you buy it!

The fastest time I have recorded so far is a rather lame 9:13 after 4 visits and 75 laps. I'm certain I have gone quicker (I can think of one in particular!) but don't time every lap, although on my last visit my mate timed me at 2km intervals on laps he timed, now that does make interesting reading!

I think in the right hands my car would be capable of a lot quicker, I think by my very nature I am rather cautious.

I think anything under 9mins is bloody good!

Dave

Sorry, I have been told it's Quiddelbacher Höhe which is the bit that people often call Flugplatz, the uphill section after Hohenrain.

Davyboy

That was where I thought it looked like but it's so hard to tell and someone told me it was later on in the lap than that. That brow can be very scary and we got airborne in the Porsche twice over there

Thanks for letting me know

As we've moved on to binning it at the ring here's a question

Anyone here ever come off track? I'll own up, on my first ever lap (in the wet) I span the car just after hocheichen, deceptive camber was my excuse as well as my right foot not being heavy enough. We were off the track and parked up nice and neat on the grass quicker than I could say lift off oversteer.

No big offs as yet and no armco bill but since that I do err on the side of caution.

Yes, at Easter, Pflanzgarten 4, 45 degrees to the track at about 130, across the grass (left 4 neat wheel tracks for all to see for the rest of the weekend ) kept it planted, rejoined the track and carried on. Covered the Scoob I was overtaking in all sorts of dust and grass cuttings

No damage at all. Very, very lucky boy, looking at the tracks my rear bumper was about 18" from the wall and at that speed I'm glad that the ground was fairly smooth grass and not gravel, otherwise it would have barrel rolled and I wouldn't be here.

Unhappy

Gary

from what I saw 9 times out of 10 the bikers don't watch their mirrors and just turn in on you and one biker Tavia will remember well knew we were there after he nearly took out an R1 doing about 140 mph he then came over on us saw us then did it again If Dave was passing on the left side of the biker (like you should) it would have been the bikers fault if they touched Sounds like a lucky escape but not everyone is that lucky.

Paul ........

Just trying to winde Dave up abit like he does to me.

The story was I was in his 944 when we came upon a biker entering a blind crest bend at about 70 mph ..... we were doing about 100 - 110. The biker was in the middle of the road so Dave dived up the inside of him. 30 Yds from passing the biker suddenly leaned left as if to take the racing line. We were fully committed he was about to die ( No question ). Not sure what happened but he must have caught a glimpse of us and picked the bike back up. We missed by a whisker. I shouted, not helping Dave toooo much and he got a sweat on. A very very close moment.
I agree with what you say though bikers just dont expect you to be overtaking them. A very very dangerous place, but i will be going back as soon as i can.

Red face

This happened at Pflanzgarten (I think), you do the double right hander (with gravel trap) turn left, then you turn left again (turn in at the end of the black kerbs) and go down a little hill (the car jumps a bit), well it was that left.....and it is rather fast!

He was on the far right of the track doing about 40mph (I though he was staying to the edge just cruising), I must have been doing nearer 100mph and he just tipped the bike in on me, a combination of me breaking and him sitting the bike up prevented a nasty accident. When I looked in the mirror he held his hand up to say sorry. I saw him later in the pits and we both grinned at each other! Either that or it was a gay biker who fancied me!
