I train at the Powerhouse gym in New Lane, Havant which is about 8 miles from Pompey town center. I think its a fiver a visit for non-members. It's not a bad gym, quite a few large guys there but it's more tailored towards general keep fit although it has a fair free weight section.
I'm looking around at the moment for a new gym just to shake things up a little. I visited a few and they all recommended Fitness First which apparently has the best selection of free weights, but i'll reserve judgement until I see them! The new David Lloyd gym at Port Solent looks plush but from what I hear its very pricey.
So I might bump into you then![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

Have you noticed, when ever a gym topic comes up it last for ages.
There seems to be a lot of interest from the lads, and only the odd addition from the girls.
Does anyone actually go to the gym specifically to keep fit, or do we all go to get bigger, stronger, or to lose weight?
In my case I have no intention of getting stronger I dont need to be stronger. My need is for size and always has been, but as a by product of size I tend to get strength.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Warning to all who want to have a bigger build,in my experience you will never be big enough, you will always want more. Currently 17st2lb, 5"11, 34" waist, and not big enough.....
Whatever you do in the gym enjoy it, if it becomes a chore your wasting your time.

Hehe, well I might be able to bring a unique angle to this topic but I'll probably get stick for it ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I love professional wrestling. There, I said it. And about 4 years ago I did some commentary for a radio show for FWA wrestling and also some refereeing for a few shows. I took a few bumps, bleed for my sport (Yes, real blood!) and I took the decision to pursue my dream to become a wrestler.
The trouble was I weighed about 11 stone and as some of you may be aware the lighter wrestlers have to pull off high risk moves and are generally destroyed by the larger guys. So I decided to bulk up and give myself a 5 year plan to get into shape and be in the position to be doing some of the dominating.
Anyway, about a year ago I found out that I had a genetic kidney disorder which means that I'm going to need a transplant in the future and according to my specialist I would be putting myself in serious harm if I did pursue the wrestling.
I may not have much quality time left with a decent body but if I can't do the wrestling I'm still going to bodybuild as I really enjoy it. I've been told that if I have any significant change in kidney size than the bodybuilding is out so I'm going to use the remaining time to full effect![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Although I'm still mighty tempted by the wrestling now I'm edging on 15 stone
Let the ripping begin

Personally, I want less muscle on certain parts of my body. Unfortunately, once it's there, you're rather stuck with it.
The other downer is that stuff I enjoy doing, (riding horses being a prime example), just builds more.

defiant sti, 18" arms imo is good going, especially if ure not carrying loads of lard. Best mine have been was 18.25" @ 15.5 stone, at the moment they're at 17" @ (approx.)14.25 stone, but this will be going up v.soon ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
. I tend to gain about a stone in weight for every inch I add to my arms!
(Began training at 10.5 stone, arms were 12")

At the risk of sounding gay (and I'm not!) I think some of you guys should put up some piccys of yourselves - it would be good to see what you have all achieved

Milo - I was looking through some bodybuilding stuff on the net and I came over a story/myth about some Greek kid that lifted a calf when it was born and did so every day even as it grew because his strenght grew with it. I just wondered if that's where you got your login name from.
Btw guys, I know this might seem strange/impossible but prior to going on holiday I wasn't eating to gain weight (atkins to get the tummy flat) but was doing a lot in the gym. Over a 4-6 week period I put on very little muscle, if any! Since coming back I've been eating like **** and I swear blind I've put on a noticeable amount in just two weeks!! Is that even possible

Bodybuilding threads always do well because its a topic that most guys can relate to at some level. Threads on beer and women tend to do well too

His chest doesn't look overly massive though and his shoulders are sitting nicely at his sides so he's not overly imbalanced. He looks like one of the guys I see in the gym and think, 'bast@ard, how did you get your arms like that!!' Believe me I know ALL about shoulders with my injury ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
What size are you naturally defiant? Have you been on a long path to get where you are now or were you always fairly big?
When I was a laddie I was a total lanky weed but I'm a little more substaintial now![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

Can we have a thread with photos of you lot cleaning cars?
![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
This is not for me, you understand, 'cos I don't like overly-muscular blokes. I just feel it needs to be done to provide balance on the forum...
