<I think that saying "Bollox to all the blouses who are getting..."
is a bit harsh considering you don't know the facts astraboy.>
Thats the point mate I DO know the facts. Yes it was a 40 limit, and yes it was in a village. But if you let your kids out at 3am to play on the road in the dark when a police sanctioned road rally is taking place past your front door then I think you dont have a leg to stand on from a childs welfare point of view.
Or do I owe you an apology?

I believe that in excess of 50% of children who come into conflict with a motor vehicle are hit when the vehicle is in reverse. Being honest though I can't remember the reference for that. Anyone concerned about the things in society that do kill children should take a look at the rospa site.
It is also worthwhile to note, those who are worried about pedestrians getting hit by cars, that in over 80% of such accidents police (who are hardly motorist friendly) assess the blame to lie with the pedestrian. During the hours of darkness a high proportion of pedestrians hit by cars, again over 80% as I recall, would be above the legal blood/alcohol limit for driving. Had a motorist involved in an accident with such a person been in the same condition, in terms of alcohol levels, as the pedestrian then the motorist would be considered automatically to blame.
Generally speaking it is rare for a vehicle to enter the footpath in order to come into conflict with a pedestrian but common for a pedestrian, sometimes in an advanced state of inebriation, to enter the roadway in order to come into conflict with a vehicle.
Please don't become a victim of the current government revenue generation scheme propaganda and believe that all motorists are bad and that the police have to take their money off them to punish them. Road safety has many facets but speed is rarely to blame for accidents and not all accidents with pedestrians or children are related to speed or the fault of the motorist.
Please take great care, always drive such that you can stop in the distance you can see to be clear and stand with fellow motorists to fight the current government campaign against our rights.

No. I know of one other motorist who is convinced that the speed they showed him on the laser device was the speed of another car. It certainly wasn't the speed he was doing but he was convicted for it. Some of the newer gear has a video camera attached in which case ask to see the video and if you have any doubts then get an expert on the job.

Richard,
That is the one, wonder if it will ever be live. I nearly had a PO truck in the back of me when I slowed down for it once.
Just to add it flashed me once at 40 when I was going in the opposite direction so have never been sure of it.

Laser jammer
Well erm thats a very simple frequency that is used to automatically open your garage doors.. They are positioned at the front of the car somewhere - I'd send a piccie but am not techie enough and you can flick a switch to arm and flick to turn off - of course you can accidentally leave the things turned on all the time...............
It just so happens to unfortunately for the Police work on the same frequency as the Police Laser Guns and has the effect of effecting the laser guns working - pretty much acts as a shield - with the Police getting no speed reading.......which is of course unfortunate for the law abiding citizen who doesnt know anything about this and naturally uses them for the stated purpose as originally stated above!!!
Buy from most radar/laser places - Snooper SLD 920 - its also called the Blinder in the States - should be able to get for betwee £200-£250 and are easy to fit...........................

or have a CB in the car... which is always handy against radar, as opposed to laser... it was the CB in my car that was the final nail in the coffin of their case...

Are you sure garage door openers work by laser? Arnt they radio operated? My hand held garage door opener has no aperture for laser light to be emitted from. Neither has my neighbours - i just checked with her.
Id think twice about giving out advise about that stuff if you admit to having no technical ability.

so how much did this little court case end up costing you (i assume you had a brief etc).. ?
Can the judge do anything to these kind of police officers who muck about... is there a police to police the police ?
