P1,
No - it shows that the Impreza is setup for understeer () and the Evo for oversteer ().
Matt
Is he seriously saying a standard WRX wagon handles that course better than an Evo 7?

also why compare a standerd uk wagon with a fettled jap sti?
and do u not think that a bit more lock in the evo would have prevented a spin and gave the same "wiggle" as the uk wagon?

hmm, looked to me like he got onto full lock pretty quickly with that Evo.
I was very surprised the Evo lost it. I was expecting the WRX to be bad, the Evo to be better and the ATD to be fantastic.

Is it me, or the the point of this vid missed by a few miles by some ?
This is not about Evo vs Subaru. This is about a new technique (or a combination of existing stuff) that can make your car both safer on the absolute limit (like when you don't feel like Colin M. and need to avoid an accident) but also potentially more fun, depending on the software that is loaded.
Damian, if you are reading this, would it be possible to fit a few demo installs to existing Imprezas, or would that be a no-no cost wise ?
This stuff needs to hit the shelves IMHO. Forget the PPP. Forget the STi dampers. THIS is what needs to come out ASAP

This is the kind of "upgrade" I will spend money on, not on hybrid turbo's, coilovers and other STI gizmo's.
As far as I know, the only way to fully enjoy my Subaru is on track (especially with all the gatso's and camera's everywhere)
And it is just on a race track, when you're on the limit, or very near by, that you need such a system.
Indeed, it should hit the dealer right NOW....

I certainly didn't see this as Subaru vs Evo video.
I assumed they used the particular 3 cars due to their charactaristics and existing safety/performance features to demonstrate their point
i.e. AWD (WRX), Active Yaw Control and Active Centre Diff (Evo) and the ATD (Prodrive STI).
I was still surprised that the Evo didn't complete the manouvre though.

Hi Guys..
On the "surely he could have got it round" questions..
The task was to get it round that section at the specified speed.
Sometimes the laws of physics just don't allow that, no matter how skilled you are.
That section is incredibly tricky, and is designed that way for that very reason.
Damien could have absolutely controlled the car so it didn't spin, but he would not have made the left hander (he'd have gone wide).
Now, that's not to say that Petter Solberg couldn't make the corner in the EVO.. I'm sure he would have had a much better chance... but as you can see from the video, in the ATD it was a complete breeze.
The ATD system really IS something to be excited about. The EVO is a stunning car. The standard scoob is a stunning car.. but it's not fitted with ATD.
Cheers

I think what they were showing was how the cars change under emergency manouvres and just how differently those high-performance cars change theirs. When he introduced the Evo, he clearly said it would change very dramatically whereas the Impreza would have a 'bit of a wriggle'.
The way the Evo handles lift off is too introduce oversteer, which looked like a lot of fun on the twisty section but as he said you can't turn that off, so when faced with having to avoid something in the road, you may lose it because the change is very dramatic.

Sticky,
I think you are still missing the point!! John, I don't think those kinds of systems can have *that* much effect when you have zero throttle on during the corner.

For reference: these are the threads talking in depth about the ATD system.
