When are they going to make a dedicated rally game thats as good as if not better than the rallying in Gran Tourismo 3? For me thats still the best rally game I have played but its so limited and not on real tracks etc.
WRC2 is good but still doesn't compare to GT3.
Sony could easily develop the rallying from GT3 and make a best seller from it.

How can you possibly compare GT3 with WRC2!!! GT3 is just too arcade like, smack your car into something and it just continues with no damage and apart from Pikes Peak all the tracks are'nt real AFAIK. As for WRC2 it is by far THE best rally game (for PS2 anyway). Real cars, real drivers, actual stages of the WRC, damage, hit an advertising hoarding or small tree or bush and you drive through it you dont just come to an abrupt halt. WRC2's setup options are varied to say the least and is by far the better rally game IMHO
Just think about this, if for some strange reason you wanted to reinact Gilles Panizzi's (sp) celebratory donut under that bridge on the Col-De-Turini which would you go for? For the rally fanatic with a games console, WRC2 is the way to go at the present time.

Oi! ![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Did you not read what I said above? I was talking about the actual driving of the cars and said that GT3 needs to have a rally version developed thats got all the tracks and drivers etc then it would be a top selling rally game![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Yes WRC2 is good, but the actual driving of the car just doesnt compare to GT3 for me, ie the way you can swing the rally cars about using a steering wheel and pedals etc.

wrc2 is a good game but face it
the ps2 is looking dated now and save for a few exclusive titles like jax and dexter there is little to commend it
if you had an xbox and a ps2 running side by side no one in the right mind would go for a ps2

"the ps2 is looking dated now"
I agree with you on this one as the PS2 does look rather dated when compared to the XBOX which I have to admit does look the mutts nuts.
"save for a few exclusive titles like jax and dexter there is little to commend it"
err, no mate. How about the Gran Turismo series, Resident Evil series, Colin Mcrae Rally series, WRC series, Metal Gear Solid series, Tomb Raider series, Grand Theft Auto series, The Getaway, Final Fantasy series, Silent Hill series.......need I go on.
As for the XBOX surely the same comment could be made about the Gates box. Lets see, what titles are the real good ones, Halo, Half Life, Star Wars Knights of the old republic, Colin McRae 3
I think to sum it up the PS2 has a pedigree and a vast array of top notch titles with a large percentage of them developed in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainments Europe so they would never appear on XBOX.
As for the XBOX, yes it is a very nice looking and very powerfull console. However it has a long way to go when you compare the unit sales of the PS2 with the XBOX. When you also compare the number of top line titles for PS2 against the XBOX the XBOX is no way near as well catered for.
Power wise and looks wise, both austhetically and on-screen the XBOX wins but whats the point in having that when the number of top titles could be counted on two hands and maybe a foot![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Just my opinion, which means nothing in the grand scheme of things so easy on the flaming all you XBOX fans

Sorry mate, I went off on one there. But when I come to think of it I've got the wheel and pedals that came in a bundle with GT3 and yes I know what you mean about getting things sideways in the game. Then again in WRC2 try the old "Scandinavian Flick" and you will definately get the car sideways on loose stuff "for sure"

No worries
I know what you mean to about the tracks and everything, just wish they would combine the game detail/realism of something like WRC2 with the driving realism of GT3. They would make an absolute killing if brought out on all platforms globally.
Oh and gonna have to play WRC2 now when I get home
that'll please the bird ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

well dear me i ruffled some feathers
right let me give you the facts
grand turismo is one of the titles that may stay with the ps2 even though the designer has specifically said that this means he is ltd with what he could do with the new title, hmm the silent hill series is allready multi format, colin mcrae 4 is on the xbox allready, same with grand theft auto and almost all of the other titles you mention, ie tomb raider and metal gear solid.
youll find that unless a title is a port from the ps2 to the xbox the version on the ps2 is pants compared to the xbox version. If you have a problem with this check dead to rights or max payne
As i said i have ALL games for all formats, even the unreleased betas etc. The ps2 is dated and frankly has little to reccommend it to the serious gamer

IMO the cars in WRC2 handle more realistically than GT3. GT3 is good, but WRC with the Logitech Force feedback wheel is the best combo yet, for realistic rally driving.
And the Logitech wheel works on my PC too, what great value at £59.

Took my Logitech back, far too much resistance, and it didnt work on Toca RD. Apparently the PC version for £30 (Wingman) works on PS2 as well, dont quote me on that though.
