i drive my wife's ka sometimes-very good fun,the sportka has a 1.6 engine and is highly rated in last week's autocar handling.
i hear it nearly beat the spec c (likely due to it running out of petrol)

Had a Tigra try to blast up the inside of me on the A130 from Chelmsford. So much to my sons delight we obliged and sat side by side till he peaked at about 115!

My son looks at the bloke with as much disdain a 10year old can muster and duly waves goodbye as we blew him into the weeds.

Wife used to get a Ka as a loan car when her Focus was in for repairs, hence we've done quite a few miles in one! Smashing car, with great handling. Shame the boot's so small (no room for a week's shop), or the Labrador. We were also concerned that if it went wrong, we'd be at the mercy of the Ford dealer network - not a happy thought.

Huge fun car though, with handling that made up for the lack of power.

Cheers

PS Not everyone that shoots off at the lights, is racing the car next to it.

Toonman...

As I mentioned previously... the guy was racing me, and I know this because the smartass had taken the inside lane knowing full well that there was a line of cars parked in his lane on the opposite side of the junction, which he and everyone else could see from ablut half a mile away.

Anyway, regardless, I think we all know exactly when someone is, and when someone isn't trying to race us. Don't we?

Talizman,

All he probably wanted was an extreme reaction from you.
i.e. You blast off the lights, he tucks in behind. You roll grently off the lights yawning, he whizzes off in front.

Either way he gets in front of a whole queue of traffic....but maybe not a scooby.

Vindaloo.

Mucho macho traffic light duelling.

Talizman - I say go for it - who cares if you were being challenged
or not. You enjoyed it, and this thread has a healthy hit rate.

Agree with majority - Ka might be a tad under-powered, but they DO handle well. Just 'cos it's not bewinged/turbo'd doesn't mean it's a complete waste of space. It's not all about max bhp. If you've evr track day'd you'll know that handling and ability are far more important.

Ha!

Funnily enough i had this mad, eccentric bloke come in to the yard the other day in a streetKa - it is the only one on the island so he claims (i live on the isle of wight)

recognised me form a pub i worked in about 4 years ago - needless to say he said take it for a spin. i obliged and took it along a piece of fast road that i love and test all cars by the pace at which it can travel on this particular section (ie: when mate get new cars or some on offers me a drive i go here...)

it was quite fun, but would not enjoy to drive other than for a blat - it sort of felt like a gti-esque thing, handled ok - quite stiff despite cabriolet.

he remembered that i used to have modded pug 205 gti's and asked what i drove now - i gestured towards my scoob.

i have to confess that i was not prepared to let him anywhere near my car, cos he was such a mad old bu66er!

the next day i had a blat in skyline gtr - that was much better!

funny how people keep flinging their cars at me! must be the effect i have on them!

Talizman

I never said he wasn't.

I was actually thinking about myself. When I head off, I can see that some think I'm racing
them, when all I want to do is get on with it.

Cheers
