Thought I saw another Scoob today! But it was only my reflection in the shop window! Oh how I love my car!

You may see a few about occasionally but the great thing about Scoobs is they're all different - try saying that about Audi TT's or BMW's !!!
( Clones is more appropriate for them !! lol )

4 Years ago, there was an Import quota that meant you had to wait 10 Months to buy one.... Very Exclusive then, not so now that you can just walk into a garage and pick one up.

As an example, Trax 1999, SIDC had a tiny pound behind the BRDC grandstand, lucky if you could get 30 cars in there. At JapFest 2003, wasnt there 200+ cars???

Rare compared to the likes of Mondeo and Astra, but not like it was *sniff

Also, remember that 4 years ago, people didnt really know what they are, I remember a kid walking past my '98 and saying to his mate that it was a modified Sierra *lol.

I own a 95 WRX and see only 1 or 2 classics a day if i am lucky (and it is usually the same ones), whereas I see about 15 Bug eyes on my 30 min commute around Leeds.
I was in Chesterfield last Saturday morning and saw about 10 (no word of a lie) whilst I was in a traffic jam from hell, all bug eyes.
I still think that the classics are best shape, although as has been mentioned earlier the numbers of fresh imports (like mine) do boost the numbers on the roads, but they are not "common" by any stretch of the imagination.

Surely the way to determine how rare they are is to find out just how many were produced? We all know that Astras, Focus and Mondeos are produced by the hundreds of thousand. Just how many Imprezas were imported?

The importer or possibly your local dealer will know the official figure, then there are just the 'grey' ones to add on top.

Ahhh the good old days, waited months for my new MY98 turbo. Local Suabru garage got about 14 cars a year in 1998. Also personal imports were restricted as well. Seeing another one was very rare.
I too had the conversation

>"What is it ?"
>>"A Subaru"
>"Who makes them ?"
