I wanted to buy a very expensive CD transport with seperate Dac. When I contacted the guy he could not answer basic questions about it... Turns out he is famous and has been arrested I think . He scammed £££££££££ selling very very expensive hifi here in UK.


Its amazing how much a few mins on the phone can reveal..

Slightly off topic but an e-bay story nonetheless.

My brother has a good profile selling lots of various items with say £250 being his ceiling at the moment.

I wanted to sell a Jaguar for a friend with a reserve of £4,500.
My brother agreed to do it on an 8 day auction for me.

Quite unbelievably it sold for it's reserve, which incidently is slightly above it's true value according to Autotrader.

Now I took over with the e-mails and phone calls.

The person phoned me and offered £150 to deliver it to Essex from the Midlands.

I'm thinking, yeh right, this is fishy. They've bid £4,500 for a car they haven't seen, they'll pay £150 to have it delivered and then, this was the clincher, their house name was ridiculous, can't say on here but believe me it was.

Friends started laughing about it so if I was to go ahead with it I needed some security.

That's when I emailed them asking them to deposit £150 into my bank account to confirm their intent. This was on the Friday evening. On Saturday morning the money was in my account.

So now I have my travel expenses should they not want it when I get there.

I travel down on the Tuesday, arrive at this huge silly named house, greeted by the owners who look thrilled to bits standing with a brown envelope.

They couldn't wait for me to count the money, which I did, gave them a receipt, handed the keys and left despite them wanting me to stop for lunch!!

It all seemed so surreal.

Anyway, just thought i'd share that with you as everything isn't always what it seems.

I bought a Suzuki jeep off e-bay for £500.

Kept it for a month and had some fun bashing it around off road.

Decided to sell it and stuck it on e-bay for £500 starting bid, £650 reserve and Buy it now for £900.

2 days into the auction I get a mail saying that it had been bought for £900 using the buy it now feature.

2 days later and a couple of calls to the buyter and I pick him up from the train station as he had travelled down from Manchester and he hands me £900 and pootles off in the jeep.

£400 profit and no hassle.

I suppose that you just have to be lucky in getting someone pleasant to deal with.

Another thing to be aware of is sometimes they will send a very official looking 'safe trading from ebay' email to you. It's part of their scam also, looks genuine from ebay but is part of the bullsh*t, it will include details about the so called 'seller' proving their authenticity, ebay don't do this at all!.

I've wound a few scammers up, stories of being part of the maffia, saying I've allready had a 'contact' trace their bank branch, saying hope they don't mind but was flying to Spain on business and insist on meeting a trading partner. It's good fun. Actually had the last guy saying he didn't want the deal and not to bother

I actually look out for the scams when browsing ebay and drop them a line to see the same structure of email, money transfer, must deal soon, free shipping, VAT paid.

Next time your browsing, have a look for phone buy it nows that are very cheap, then look for the pre aproved bidder part, check feedback that doesn't match, then email them stories of wanting to spend £30,000 on phones as soon as possible

Once you learn to spot the fraudulant ebay ads, you'll see them everywhere, there are hundreds all the time, ebay usually remove them quite quickly.

After my Brother got scammed on the projector fraud on Ebay, he then recieved an email from the Nigerian scam, claiming our relatives had been killed in a car crash etc etc

So my Bro strung this guy along for ages, and asked him as a gesture of good will to deposit 500 quid into his newly created account of which he would give him double back once the 15 million dollars had been wired over

My Bro also made up a passport number, fake bank account etc, just to keep this guy strung along, it worked really well, until requesting the 500 quid, then the nigerian scam bloke stopped sending him mails

I got ripped off on a pair of Oakleys (got sent an empty box) & the seller refused to believe me. Claimed with ebay/Paypal & got about 80% of my money back. Actually went pretty smoothly considering it was my word against one of the bigger sellers on ebay.

As for the quad, it looks pretty good - you really need to speak to him by phone to feel if it's a scam.

Hopefully it's been removed due to a complaint from the genuine owner of the username selling said item, this is what usually happens. I even asked one fraudulant seller why the auction had dissapeared, he told me he had sold that particular item, but had more if I wanted

And as a copter is costing around £300.00 minimum an hour.....I dont think he will fall for it..just an excuse etc will be offered.
