i agree that it looks silly putting stickers on cars that dont have the products that the stickers advertise, its all about looks, ive got a bodykit etc on my corsa but think stickers look tacky in general.

please dont slag it off! spose its a matter of taste though

That must have cost you a small fortune.... I thought running a scoob was bad enough on the pocket !

Good on ya mate, lot of time gone into that car.

If you do something for image, or for public show, then you put it up for criticism / ridicule etc. If you can't take the jibes, don't put it on show - it ain't that difficult.

We need a cool wall here

COOL
HKS Stickers on rice rockets
Stubbsy's Stealth Corsa

UNCOOL
HKS Stickers on standard nova's
"Widening your outlook on life" AKA never daring to raise criticism
Having brakes that look 1/10th scale wrt the wheels - we'll let you off for now but sort it out for next time Stubbsy

Just MHO of course Of course Clarkson's opinion is final

Red face

It's understanderble a young Saxo owner would want HKS & Blitz stickers on their car. Image is everything, the fact that these makes have no association with Saxo's is irrelavent to them cause it looks cool.

It's an age thing. Still no matter how many stickers you plaster on them the Saxo will still fall prey to the Scoob.

Right i can answer this for you now, my younger brother who is 18 has done hes nova up, why you ask? well its like this for the young chap he would love nothing more than to have a real peformance car like a cosworth or scooby but for 1)he would never get insurance 2)he couldnt afford to buy one 3)he couldnt afford the £80 aweek petrol bill plus everthing eles that comes with a high perfomance machine so they do the next best thing by trying to make them look good with cosmetic mods on tell one day when there older they can get cheaper insurance and have saved up 7K to by a decent cossie or what ever there just making the best of there situation! so take it easy on the young fella`s because when we are old and grey its going to be them thats tear arsing about in fast cars well we are saying "look at them bloody idots" all over again.

cossie@ste, Another person apparently missing the point!

Nobody is criticising them for having a nova, or whatever, because funds are limited, insurance is difficult at that age etc. etc.

Scoobyscraggle hits on the key point - image is everything. If you make styling mods, you are making a fashion statement. In particular if you start putting stickers on the side of your car, stickers which clearly do not refer to mods on the car, then this adds nothing to the car except for a fashion statement. It is no different to the clothes we wear, you can choose to blend in with the crowd, or go for something a bit more outrageous and stand out. And if you choose to wear/drive something that causes you to stand out from the crowd, you will attract attention, and that will include praise AND criticism. And if you can't take it, don't do it. Simple as that.

I can see scoobynet members writing really stiff letters to the Guardian about the shocking criticism of celebs in OK and Hello magazine and programmes like "what not to wear". "Dear editor, I can't believe these d-list celebs were criticised for wearing ludicrous clothes. If David Beckham wants to wear a dress and carry a handbag, that's up to him, these magazines need to widen their outlook on life blah blah blah drone drone drone"

Whats more, if those mods DIDNT attract any kind of attention, I suspect the owner would be well p!ssed off. After all what other reason is there for doing the mods in the first place? And if you are looking to stand out, you gotta have your head switched on enough to take the rough with the smooth.

Glad to see you like my little cool wall though Stubbsy I do like the interior on your car, you should send those pics to the Ford RS dept, makes the RS focus look like a tonka toy crashed into a plastic factory

Sorry if i missed the point i was abit pissed at the time 2.28am lol

Right stickers! i agree it does look tacky having say HKS on a saxo or something but what i think there trying to do is go for that touring car look with the big spoilers on the boot etc
so if this is the case it doesnt really matter what stickers as anything goes on a touring car!

Any sticker can wind up on a touring car because they get paid lots of money for it

I've seen quite a few rally replicas/touring car colours about, which is fair enough, as long as you apply ford colours to a ford, subaru colours to a subaru, vauxhall colours to a vauxhall. Put ford colours on a vauxhall and... well, it would look at little odd to say the least... I'm sure there is some deeply ironic gag (!) that you could come up with putting one teams colours on a different car but nine times out of ten it would look stoooopid

Time of post noted Good going! Hope the head is nice and clear this morning

I must admit there seems to be a large amount of inverted snobbery going on in this thread.

Would someone care to explain what the difference is between a cheap hot hatch with silly wheels, over-loud exhaust covered in stickers and tacky bodykit, and a Subaru with silly wheels, over-loud exhaust, covered with stickers and equally tacky bodykit?

dead_neurons says
there's 1.7 MILLION max power readers
Dunno who fed you that but in the last quarter, the circulation has been about 225,000 per issue.

Readership can mean someone looking at one page and if by definition vague and will include people looking at it and thinking it's crap.
