I was at the Hyde Park event last night. Many more people attended than I had expected, but it was a fantastic evening of entertainment.
Although the crowd were predominantly English, there were representations of other nationalities that all joined our celebration of this fine British tradition.
One so-called section of our British society was conspicuous by their absence – just as they were from the queues waiting to pay tribute following the passing of The Queen Mother.
However, I did notice them out in force last Thursday to pay tribute to 19 of their ilk.

Scooby nutter.
It cant be that bad. Just look at how many ppl were there and around the UK to watch it. Makes a Robbie concert at knobworth seem trivial. (which it probably is).

I, like others on this thread, used to think it was all a load of ********, specially after being taken to Proms as a child by my dad. I can appreciate what they are all about now. The last night seems all the more important these days, especially in the light of current world events and the 'direction' that British culture seems to be being driven ATM.

Apart from that is a great excuse to dust off some of the old classics and have a damn good party.

Dave
Ive told you

1. You seem to be a "One track CD"
2. You got caught out lying.
3. You sound a closet racist.
4."is it your intention to turn every thread into a personal vendetta?"... so why do you seem to bring this matter up in just about every thread you enter?????

"One so-called section of our British society was conspicuous by their absence – just as they were from the queues waiting to pay tribute following the passing of The Queen Mother.
However, I did notice them out in force last Thursday to pay tribute to 19 of their ilk."

so as asked... who are you talking about.. trouble is dave you might have a valid point but all this avoiding the facts or mentioning who you are talking about makes it harder to understand..

Dave

I wasn't there to pay tribute to an old lady who died of old age, despite the finest medical care the world can provide. I never feel the need to parade my grief to the world.

But I'm mystified as to what this links me to. Who were the 19 you mention?

It was a great programme and well worth watching. Excellent music and singing very well performed.

If you don't like to listen to good music, just don't make a prat of yourself with vicious and unpleasant insults. You are entitled to say you don't enjoy it but at least be polite about it instead of showing your immaturity in the way you did. I like all kinds of music but I don't see the need to be so childishly rude about the music I dislike.

I suppose the US flag was something to do with the American conductor. He seemed a pleasant enough bloke and was good at running the orchestra. It is a uniquely British event as UB says, but nothing wrong with the attendance by other nationalities I think. Great occasion as ever especially with the link up with the Scots,Welsh and Irish. Hope they do it again next year.

If it was, everyone likes different things.I for one dont like this sort of music because i think its crap.Obviously many poeple enjoy it judging by the number of people watching it(even though its free entry)

You may not like my sort of music,Skrewdriver,No remorse etc etc but hey im not going to cry when people say its ****e.

FWIW
I went ot a few in the late 80's and there have always been flags of foriegn nations IIRC.

Surely this is a celebration of wonderfull music majority of which was written by people from othe nations.

Yes this is uniquely quinticentially British occassion but I have no issues showing anyone from anywhere what a great nation we are.

Chad, christ now thats an achievment.

Wow, that's an articulate insight. So, would you care to enlighten us as to why it's so 'crap' then?

Luke, perhaps you could find a qoute from one of my posts that justifies your sick assertion. It's easy to make accusations on this board, so either back it up with some evidence, or shut your stupid half-wit gob.

The terrorists arrested attempting to smuggle weapons and explosives into the country at Dover, originally thought to be British, have now been identified. They are in fact not British, they are muslims.

So come on Dave explain?????

been a muslim is a religion... been british is a legal title confirming a persons nationality

I didn't say anything anti-British. British being a nationality, muslim being a religion, where's the racism? It's only racism if I make derogatory remarks against a race of people. You have not found an example.
Meanwhile, your own slip is showing. Your obsession with other men's anuses and genitals confirms what sort of interests and hobbies you have. They don't really have that same appeal for me.

Dave

You have failed on ALL accounts to prove otherwise..... Your strong racist comments deleted by the mod. Your tone...

you wont answer simple questions... you get confused as to who you are.....You dont read your own posts... you forget that some of us have good memories.

And you seem to come here and get your trousers pulled down....!!!

Dave ..I am well happy to say I dont like your Scoobynet image... Others have commented on the fact they believe you might just be another windup merchant using a different name.

pS; Do you want to buy some braces???
