i was one of the secret members too. i think the problem with h/s was that it got too big, different people wanted different things. you cant please everyone all of the time. this caused the divide and people went there separate ways. i know people from the "old" h/s and people from the "ketch division" personally i dont get involved with other peoples issues on or off the board. if you want to speak to me do so if not don't. ive met good friends through h/s and so have most people so it was a success

*carlos*

ps... filfy i still owe you a tenner for that xbox game. will drop it round for you

SCOsazOBY;6796786]Please read this post then read it again whilst trying to understand my point of view. It is my opinion of events and therefore i do not wish to be slated for it.

I will attempt to respond to some of issues raised in your post and in no way do I wish to slate it.

Going as far back to when the site was created i admit to been a keyboard warrior, yes i was a post ***** and yes i posted a lot of irrelevant stuff so thats why i was given a chavs section then an over 18s section to be banished to. I have spent many a night with Enigma posting random chit chat and trying to provoke webmaster into punishing me. This became very amusing and other members joined in and we all had a laugh about it and it was a talking point for when we all met up.

As Webmaster I too enjoyed the banter created I know through your super sleuth methods that you had worked out who Webby was, others should note that Webby only wound Saz up in a very professional and non abusive way.
Worthy of note here is that I have moderated H/S since the creation of Webby, I have attempted during this time to moderate in an impartial and professional manner (with the possible exceptions of Saz v Webby

Then last October Oldfella and Filfy had a falling out which despite reasoning and attempted appologies it never got sorted out. I believe this was the starting point of where things started to go down hill and becuase of it i have lost some friends. Coincidentally at this time we had some new members join and seeing as the meets had been dying a death at CPI myself and filfy continued to go to the meets and welcomed our new members onto the site.

The disagreement I had with Filfy was to say the least unfortunate, more so as I regarded him as a true friend. I spoke to Filfy face to face regarding this matter and as you know he initially denied his role, some time later he contacted me via pm and apologised. I explained that the trust and respect that I once held was lost. At no time have I encouraged others to follow my lead.

I agree that it may appear to be the time when things started to go wrong, I don't think so as the so called secret section was set up prior to our disagreement. I also do not feel that Filfy or myself have sufficient influence as individuals to divide the community, can't imagine either of use parting the waters .

Then of course there was misunderstandings about other peoples posts and their perception of reading what other people had wrote and i had to explain a few times about the previous banter and the history of the saz Vs webmaster wars. We then got even more new members and the meets continued despite other misunderstandings about "original members" not attending because of car repairs/modifications.

I feel on any BBS posts can be interpreted in different ways, that is the problem with a text based medium, that lacks body language/emotions.
As for people attending meets, I still for the life of me cannot understand why this became such a big issue, if people choose to go, fine, if not also fine.

Of course we have all had our fair share of moans and groans, me included, and started off on the wrong foot with other members or had falling outs over silly things like bbqs and convoys, nights out etc but there has always been a level of respect regarding socialising at events/in public and posting on the board. The fact of life is you cant like everyone and you will only get closer to the people you have more in common with and similar personalities with. There are some members who i talk to but cant imagine going round for a sunday lunch with, and then there are those that i go round for a cup of tea or im going on holiday with.

Agree entirely, well said

Of course peoples perceptions of each other change and everyone has the right to choose who they spend their time with. As far as requesting a seperate secret area on the board goes then yes i believe that was inapproriate and proves that there is a clear divide between old and new and that people are not prepared to be civil any more on the board.

In hindsight (which is a wonderful thing) the secret area was not the best idea ever formulated. As for the divide, yes, as you have said earlier, people choose to mix, socialise etc to suite their own needs and preferences, was the divide unhealthy and unexpected, I'm not sure, I feel it was a natural progression. Were it became unhealthy was when one side or the other felt they were being criticised or not respected by the other. Inevitable without good communication.

There is the site that Quartz has set up but seeing as it has already been up and running for a few days would it of become common knowledge if Lofty hadnt of closed hullscoobs down. Again its a further divide and consists of the same members who where involved in the secret area or knew of it. If Lofty reading PMs was such a big issue why has it been left till the crucial breaking point before Madbint made everyone else aware of it.
Would anyone be any the wiser or better off if lofty hadnt of confessed, if madbint hadnt of informed everyone, if shippy hadnt of posted about the secret area, if Quartz hadnt of posted about the other site and of course if hullscoobs hadnt of been closed down.

As for the new website, I might be wrong but I think Quartz set it up following my sacking as moderator on H/S, being honest I felt a little uncomfortable with this as I still felt a certain loyalty. I asked Quartz to hold the big announcement.

When Lofty closed H/S the decision was made to make the site know.

The issue regarding the pm's did not come to light until last Saturday (the day I was sacked) Lofty has explained how he became aware of the issues in the relevant pm's I have no reason to challenge this.
Pm's became an issue for me in my role as moderator when Lofty made their contents known in the secret section, I informed him on the thread and by private message that I intended to delete the thread, he was not happy with this. I further stated that while I continued to have moderator status, I would delete. I left the thread for 2 hours and as I was still a Moderator, deleted the thread. Lofty followed this with a pm and stated as I was not able to "follow a simple instruction" he no longer had faith in my ability to continue, he then removed mod status and access to the secret bit.

As for "wiser and better" don't we all strive for that?

It has been clear for a few weeks now who everyone gets on with and who doesnt. All i will say is looking back over the last 3 years i have had some very good times and i have some very good memories that i will cherish forever.

Agree wholeheartedly with those sentiments

Unless the people who have fallen out make an effort from now on then there will always be a divide with people feeling like they are playing piggy in the middle. I stand by Filfy because its where my loyalties lie and i will not have my relationship with him jeapordised even if it means i have to lose friends over it.

Can't argue with that

I am prepared to be civil and think that from now on if members do have a disagreement then it should be discussed privately between them then acknowledged publicly so that other members can see that things are settled and sorted and a little bit more honesty wouldnt go a miss.

I can only speak for myself here, I would much rather speak to people directly (as I did with Filfy)

So there you go i have nothing else to say apart from Tracy Barlow is a smashing lass and should of bumped that EVIL Charlie off a long time ago

Nah, hang her

PS. I didn't even correct your spelling. Webby

Differences aside, i am actually giggling at this. Oh how you knew what buttons of mine to press.
I worked it out quite early on so tested the water by using Enigma as my decoy saying i would put up a naughty post and see how long it would take webby before he moved me and sure enough bam i was in the sin bin within minutes.
I did enjoy them nights and all my thoughts and choice of words related to webby was just purely for the wind up and i hope you understand that i didnt really mean it when i said i would run you down or get kinky with you

So long and goodbye Webby, it was a good bit of banter whilst it lasted.

I wasn't actually aware that we had any differences! My argument/disappointment was with Filfy not you or anyone else.

Webby won though

I realise that and it is regrettable, believe me no one is more sorry that it had to result in this situation. I very much valued our friendship. That said, I do not offer many people that level of access to my life, subsequently when I feel let down, it is all the more painful.

Regards

madbint68 ---- right the lot of you from hs .... i will say this only once ... i have had a fair bit of backstabbing done to me ... its time the lot of you who have any issues with me to have the ***** to actually say it out loud than say things behind my back ..... this is the only way things can get sorted out ....

fair enough if you dont wanna know me but have the ball's to say it ....

those who this doesnt apply to then just ignore this post ....

and at the end of the day ... you all have to realise this ... pm's are private they are not to be read by anyone other than the person who it is sent to ... and i can assure everyone ... pm's are not just one click of a button ... there is a few commands that have to be clicked to access it ...

and regarding our new site ... yes the moderators are the same as on hs ... but they are good at what they do and fair aswell ...

and there is no secret section on our site before anyone ask's ...

as far as we are concerned we are all scooby owners and we should all have a site that we enjoy posting on

can we all have a secret section in the new web site !!!!!

please

then no 1 well be left out ????

Sorry to hear about all this..

I'll keep looking on in as we'd love to blow the dust off our passports and pop over the Humber to see our strange accented Eastern brethren again this year...

Don't forget.. you're always welcome to come see us at our new place in Sherburn... I'll even buy you a coffee...

Well.. One of you.. (first come first served....)
