Question

Noticed that alot of cars on here look like WRX's with STi lights fitted???

I have a WRX and would like the STi lights but I though they wouldnt fit and never seen anywhere selling them.

Can u buy STi lights from subaru and are they a streight swap, wires and all ?

NewageWRX

it's a long story, but yes, you can buy them from dealers if you've enough dosh and they'll play ball ordering some - they'll possibly cost the wrong side of 500 quid a pair plus some of the wiring isn't a straight swap...

as you'll probably find out, getting hold of a set 2nd hand isn't impossible but

you'll need to sort out the levelling electric connections which should be a replacement dashboard switch (30 to 50 quid) plus wiring / connectors, and have some way of splitting the bugeye H4 "hylow" bulb connections into two separate bulbs for main & dipped beam...

after that, Bob's your father's brother etc

Apple

PS have a look back in the lighting section for more info

on the plus side, they mechanically fit easily and depending upon which set you get, the adjustment's a lot less grief

Thanks for the reply and info apple, looks like ill be sticking with my plan for some morettes or the Prodrive WRC lights.

Do the morettes or Prodrive ones have the leveling system build in and easy wiring?

Cheers

Luckily mine were fitted by the previous owner and they work fine, even the motor to adjust them works off the origional 3 position switch

as Madgrip says, the morettes fit electrically for the levelling motors but I don't know whether you need to do any wiring work (connectors etc). Bits to watch out for are - you lose the plastic bits at the side of the grille as the lights go there if you wanted to change the grille at some point and secondly, you might have to pay extra for a set respraying to your body colour unless you drop on the right colour

the Prodrives fit straight in mechanically (and are a sod to adjust if you don't have much patience IMO) and you have to change one connector on the levelling wiring (is this Prodrive / Subaru being awkward / petty to prove they've been altered or they can't source the OE connectors?). This connector is supplied when the lights are bought new to fit onto the car side of the loom.

I have a set of Prodrives I don't use if you are interested for a suitable price... Bought new for just under 500 quid and used for approx 10 months, no damage, original bulbs not used as I used HID dip and bluevision main beams instead. I would probably be able to supply the original full set of bulbs and the bluevision main / sidelights / indicators but not the HIDs - make me an offer if interested (depending upon where you are, it might additionally have p&p as well) I should be able to either get the official connector off my loom or at least supply an alternative...

Ed

Is that the Prodrive black mesh grille on the front?

If it is, how much was it inc. colour coding?

Yeah it is. I got it second hand (very rare you see these second hand) and resprayed as part of a job lot so was quite cheap, around £100 all-in IIRC.

Dealers are trying to clear bugeye 'upgrade' stock so if you find one with one in stock you may get a bargain.

Ed,
was it you at PE on Wednesday? I was just getting into a red mica classic when I saw you (or someone) getting out of a green bug eye with a fast & furious type rear spoiler?

LOl NickA doesnt push his car outta of his carpeted garage to wax it. There are rumours that he slips into his garage at 10pm at night to give it a quick polish - The car always appears clean as well..................
