The post about the red lights in Portugal interests me, as I've seen similar systems at work through French villages. We couldn't have it here though, as it generates no revenue
BTW: motorway roadworks near here, with speed cameras to enforce the 50 limit. No problem with that, BUT...........where are the cameras? Hidden behind huge placards about the road works, lane changes etc.
Fekkers!

Staffordshire Police claim
Strange how so many of these accident blackspots just happen to be within 100 metres of the speed limit dropping by 10mph for no obvious reason. Strange how many others just happen to be at the bottom of hills.

Staffordshire Police claim
Road safety cameras are located next to Staffordshire roads where, historically, vehicle collisions have resulted in personal injury to those involved.
They exist to make Staffordshire a safer place by reducing serious and fatal traffic collisions.
At present there are around 200 sites across the county encouraging motorists to drive at safe speeds within the speed limit.

I agree with Duck Pond about the flashing "Slow Down" signs, as well as those which flash your speed as you approach them. They certainly make drivers back off.
The dirtiest place i ever got snapped was on the A303, having driven down a single lane carriageway for miles it suddenly opened up into two lanes and i pulled out to overtake the super-slow car/caravan combination id been following forever.
As you do, i accelerated quickly to get passed and FLASH!!! There it was 50 yards into the two lanes. Bastids!!! Talk about precision.
