Kendo, it's probably of greatest interest to those whose cars can't be ECUtek-remapped.

Ive got both the Apexi AVCR and the PowerFC, and ive gotta say its awsome....perfect boost curve...holds tight.

gets rid of the little flat spots.....awsome

RC Developments supplied mine about 9 months ago £750..so its a good price if they are throwing in the Handset

all the best

I'm waiting for a reply back for individual item prices as it seems not everyone would want the ECU + handset, So should get prices for those and boost kit. The price was originally based on 10 sets of ecu with h/sets with the next price break at 20 units.

I've suggested that instead of complete unit numbers the discounts be based on order value i.e. the equivalent of 10 ecu/handset price.

Most makes and model of Jap cars can be catered for although I'm told theres an imobiliser issue with some UK skylines, that requires a loom mod.

Most of the Apex range is available but don't want to upset the other Apexi G/B that's running.

Hi Kendo, like Fatman says it all seems to be year dependent, those of us with MY97 & MY98 don't have the option of re-maps.

Pre MY97 seem to get a good deal from Scoobynet and MY99 on have ecutek, but that doesn't look cheap and I don't know if it's user adjustable.

Am I right in thinking the ecu is plug'n'play, so it fits to the existing connectors in uk my99 turbos?

I would want the ecu + commander.

Cheers

It's a direct replacement for the ecu but although the car should start it needs setting up to your car's mods. One thing I have noticed is that although it monitors knock, it doesn't retard the ignition like the standard ecu. I believe it flashes the CEL as a warning. If you leave the controller plugged in, it can display up to eight engine parameters in real time. Knock is displayed as a numeric value.

So it would work nicely with my UK MY98? i know that's a good piece of gear for Japanese models, but can someonce confirm it'll fit UK spec cars as well?

I looked into getting one from RC Dev a few months ago but the cost was prohibitive. They come with example maps installed but as Houghton says, it'll need mapping to suit your car. I was a bit concerned re the lack of knock retard, but I've got a knocklink so that, along with the flashing CEL should provide some safety net.

When is this likely to proceed? Is the supplier reputable?

I wouldnt mind one for my skyline as it happens! Email me some details if possible. As far as the software is concerned, only Apex Poewer Dealers have the original software. The only place where such dealers exist is in Japan.

I would recommend getting a good boost controller with these ECU's.

The subaru version of the Datalogit software is due out anytime now. This will give more tunig options over the hand controller.

The Power FC does back off the power when Det is detected, its a option when setting it up.....

Awsome bit of kit......buy one now, you will not regret it, your scooby will feel 10% better, smoother power delivery, perfect boost curve,..awsome, get an AVCR too..hehehehe

all the best

I would recomend going for the AVCR, and steer clear from the Hand controller, you can cause REAL damage with the controller, just with a few "inocent" button presses....

The PowerFc intergrates perfectly with the Subaru technology, reads all codes, and even has a nifty readout on the ECU its self, but you would have to take up the carpet to see it

all the best jay

PS they do come with a "rough and ready map" already on it, so its a plug-n-play ECU, but i recomend getting it mapped on the day.

Getting the PowerFC without the FCCommander or FC-Datalogit software is pointless IMO, the standard map will not be much better than stock.

If you can't trust yourself to be careful with the handheld then keep it in the box and only get it out when you go to a to have it tuned with a wideband.

errr well thats obvious, of course the standard map is crappy, but its there so you can at least check that it comunicates with you car correctly......the ECU would not be "mappable" if you were ment to leave it with its "Base" map...doh!!!

As for trusting your self...thats not a problem, easy dont touch it, but you have to factor in a few varibles....

1) the Sunday "Have A Go" crowd

This can lead to serious engine damage.......just by pressing a few buttons...ITS THAT EASY.....

2) Your Mates

Have you ever got into the car after paying for petrol and your mates have turned everything on...wipers, heater, hazards....pressed a few green buttons on the calculator thingy on the dash.......................GET MY POINT.

3) Kids
....leave them in the car for a few mins and they push , prod, and switch..everything and anything.

so there is a massive reason not to get one....can you map a PowerFC, taking into concideration, fueling, Air ratios, boost curves, inlet temps....so forth and soforth....I cant...but thats what the comander is for..MAPPING...and you dont map a car on a whim.......sorry to say, but your wrong matey IMO

all the best

Yes have a go, but find out what you should and shouldn't do first, get the proper equipment to aid you to do the job. It's not rocket science.

Easy take the keys with you the FCCommander won't turn on if the keys aren't in (or do your friends also regularly hotwire your car for a laugh)

>> 3) Kids
>> ....leave them in the car for a few mins and they push , prod,

As my answer to point 2) also teach your kids to respect other peoples property, mine would never touch anything in the car I told them not to.

As in my answer to pint 1) it's not rocket science, small increments, make sure you have other equipment to check you not going to far, knock sensors, widebands, EGT etc...

>> but thats what the comander is for..MAPPING...

The commander is also for MONITORING as well as mapping, there is a whole menu devoted to it.

>> and you dont map car on a whim.......

no you don't re-map the whole thing ,but, removing flat spots, adjustment of idle, resolving cold start problems, etc are all within the bounds of the home tuner to do safely.

>> sorry to say, but your wrong matey IMO

We will have to agree to differ in our opinions I think.

life is a learning curve m8
we all make mistakes but the trick is to corect your error for next time or somthing like that and ther is no point having the available ajustment if you dont use it might as well have a tek or piggy back ecu save some money but the more you want to add the further you need to go so full ajustment is what i want i think
did you get me a price for the full setup i need 1 in 300m cant run this map for much longer how soon can i have 1
THANKS
