I'd say drop the price to just under £9k, that way it appears on searches for up to that amount. Plus, advertise it on as many places as you can.

When I was flogging my old Celica, no interest at all off the adverts on the internet. Put it in Autotrader magazine and sold it in a couple of days.

I disagree with the notion that everyone wants to buy an import. I avoided them like the plague when I was interested in getting my own Scooby.

With the current 2nd hand market as it is, you'll just have to be patient I reckon.

Agree with Duck on the import thing. When i was looking for mine i particularly wanted a UK model and when the time comes to change it id still go for a UK model. But then, thats just me.

The non standard alloys and exhaust would put me off, also 54k miles is a problem as Subaru dealers refuse to put anything above 60k on their forecourts and use that as an excuse to knock down the p/ex price when you come to sell it on.

Return it to standard. It does put people off. The car looks in good condition, is the right mileage, has the right history but its modified.

Put it back to standard, put it out at 8,900 or less and wait for the calls. If you're lucky, you'll find a buyer who might be willing to negotiate on the extras?

I do think your price is a tad on the high side, but its the mods that'll stop you getting calls IMHO.

Cheers, and all the best with the sale!
Nick.

Agree also on imports. I have avoided them on scoobs as well as a Prelude VTEC - would not touch an import.

Unfortunately I don't have the original wheels. Could remove the back box though I spose...

Just had a call from the autotrader...someone coming to look in an hour or so

Fingers crossed!

Lil tip for ya... im not sure what yours in the trader for but lets say its.... £9200???

When/if it comes to the crunch and the buyer says... "So, whats the best price?"

Say "Well, ive been offered £8695 but i turned the guy down, its easy worth £8895" (or whatever u want for it PLUS a bit more to negoitiate with)

This does several things, lets him know sum1 else is seriously interested and has made an offer. Also lets him know you WILL turn down daft offers and lastly, it tells him where he needs to be pitching his bid to get the car.

Good luck and go get a nice new air freshener

its actually in the trader for 9600!! I was gonna reduce the price but they didn't tell me when the deadline was.

Have to see what he says - could just be a tyre kicker anyway!

Also, would like some opinions on this.....when someone comes to look at my car and asks to drive, I always tell them that I'll take them out, then if they think they are seriously interested I'll let them drive. Would this put you off??

Trying to avoid test pilots you see.

Difficult ones this.

Cos if hes interested you dont want to pi$$ him off and if hes a test pilot you want him to pi$$ off!

You'll have to just use your own judgement, see what he drives up in. Make sure he knows it had tracker just in-case he fancies a LONG test drive (if you know what i mean).

Ask if he has adequate insurance cover, personally, i wouldnt let any1 test drive my car unless they had the cash in their back pocket and were ready to buy.

Best thing to do is to nail him down on price first. Get that sorted AND agreed first. Something like, "So, subject to the test drive going ok, which it will cos its a lovely drive, you'll give me £xxxx amount"

If he only wants to drive it and isnt worried about the price, then hes only there for the ride.

Exclamation

You wanted honest opinions, so here you go:

The car looks fine, so does the ad and the description. The only problem I see is the price.

Personally I think £8500 is a more realistic price.

I sold my MY00 4 door UK, DBM, Air Con, FSSH with 69,000 miles on the clock for £9,000! Why?? Well there were other cars not selling for more money with less mileage. Subaru dealers would charge more for it, but won't buy high mileage cars at sensible money. Private dealers had similar MY00 cars and air con, around the 72,000 mile mark with a warranty for £8995!!!

Don't just look at Parkers which is well out. Look at the other adverts on Scoobynet, on Autotrader and also what traders are punting them out for!

I've noticed a few cars on Scoobynet that have what I believe a very high asking price (even if you are willing to haggle, the high starting price is putting people off!) and the proof is that these cars remain unsold!!!

It's a tricky one because they'd probably only be insured 3rd party on your car. I'd see if you can get away with taking them out yourself. You could always ask for a refundable deposit first, that should sort out any time wasters.
