My Son - The Bully!

I've just had a similar problem with my boy and also suffered as a child till I finally lost the plot and buried the kid. Now as an adult if I come up against a bully god help him.I hate them with a passion.[img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
My youngest boy is a placid laid back kid and complained to me about a kid a year above picking on him. I took the time to go to the school have a chat with the teacher and the Head but still it persisted. So back I go again and told the Head if this persists my boy has my permission to deal with it so as far as I'm concerned the ball is in your court.
I sat my lad down and went through several techniques for taking someone out properly.My boy unlike my other two boys listened very intently and for a 7yr old has one heck of a dig. I told him if it happens again take him out and if the teacher has a problem she can call me.
Lo and behold the mobile goes and guess who's on the other end? Off to the school and it appears my lad has hospitalised the bully and his father isn't to pleased. After talking to the Head
I asked him to recall our previous conversation and what steps had been taken to stop this from happening? Silence as absolutely nothing had been done except a quiet word to the lad concerned about being nice! Now it turns out this kid has been bullying from day one and is well known for his violent temper. Funny nobody mentioned that earlier.
I cannot stress enough how much I emphasised the point of violence is not the answer and battering someone for the sake of it is not on. Unfortunately children can be very spiteful evil little ***** and no amount of talking is going to rectify the situation.Sometimes a good hiding is the only language they understand.The sad part is you know a Bully will just find another soft target to pick on.
As for teaching children martial arts I think its great. I wish I started a lot younger than 13. My boy now attends as I believe in the dicipline, respect and the confidence it provides.
My boy is now left alone and noticibly much happier at school.
