SCOOBY SHOOTOUT - OFFICAL FINAL TIMES
#62
"top 8 cars on 1/4m will be run off in an eleimination section at the end, first across the line wins. during the day your reaction time is not part of your timed run, so it doesnt matter who hits the line first, its the time that you get that counts

In the 1/4s, Semis & Finals (made up of people with fast qualifying times) it is the person first across the line wins - again true.
IIRC Top Speed was decided during qualifying.

Or another way of putting it is reaction times are never part of the 1/4 mile time.
In an eliminator its the car that crosses the line first once the light has gone green that wins, NOT the car with the fastest time. The clock doesn't start when the lights go green, its when the car moves.
I've seen many races at the pod where the 'slower' car crosses the line first, winning the race. An example is that 2 cars have an eliminator race, one does a 10.1 and the other does a 10.3 however the 10.3 car crossed the line 1st because he got off the line 0.3 seconds quicker than the other guy.
OR another way is the REAL time elapsed between the lights going green and crossing the finish line is (1/4 mile time + reaction time). At the end of the run ONLY the 1/4 mile time is displayed.
