which is the best handling rear wheel drive ?

<I always thought the 200sx handled well. Probably not the best, but very predictable. >
Innit! my 200 is very forgiving. Have to do something pretty stupid to spin TBH. It seems to have that final 3/4 of a turn of opposite lock specially made for keeping you out the scenery. One thing for sure, it dont have the nasty "snap back" that my old 3-door had.

Having watched a couple of 'Best Motoring' vids, which are basically Gran Turismo TV, the Mazda RX-7 appears to be very good. As far as big RWD cars go, my E39 M5 is hard to beat especially if you like a manual box. Forget it in the wet though.

You mis-read the thread title, it said best handling RWD car, not the worst handling.

It was tongue in cheek (hence the smilie) - I doubt it's the worst. HOWEVER, it is FAR FAR FAR from being the best handling RWD car and that's what this thread is about
(I have driven, hard, a 2.8Capri and while fun in a way, it was no way near as good handling as any other RWD car I have driven -s2000, 200sx, caterham, porsche turbo etc.)

I agree (I drive a powerful RWD car, 4WD is for nambie pambies ) and the sierra/capris can be fun getting the back out etc. but like you say they have faults too.
Mind you a lot of people confuse handling with roadholding and grip. A sccob is very good at roadholding and grip but at handling, while good, there are many cars that are better.

Handling is all about what happens when grip is lost. Lots of people don't realise that. That is something that can be scarey in a scoob etc because of the high levels of grip when traction is lost it's a higher speed Most drivers will have **** themselves long before that point and a car like a scoob should never reach those limits on the road where a rear drive car can be slid at 10 mph in safety.

lol
I may have had an integrale & still drive a puma but I have always favoured rear wheel drive cars and owned several over the last few years including a 3.0s mark 2 capri that I still have, 2.8 capri, a couple of manta GTEs & a couple of sierra xr4i's that I fitted an LSD from a 4x4 to
p.s I have only had my latest rear drive for 6 days and have had it broadside more times than I did the lancia in 4 and a half years

Well, 'on/beyond the limit handling' is what happens when grip is lost but that's not the whole handling story.
Handling is a balance of things. You turn a corner, then turn the other way - how does the car behave? what if there's an up & down bit in the road or you go over a manhole cover etc. etc. It's about car behaviour.
I had a bit of fun a few years ago when I had my std mk2 golf 16v and an escort rs turbo wanted a bit of fun. the excort was lowered and hardly any roll with big rubber (not max power stylee to his credit). Now going round one corner he had more grip and simply went faster than I could. A mile up the road things got trickier as there was some of the aforementioned left rights, ups & downs and some not brilliant road surfacing. It was here that I was too fast for him and managed to pass him and unlike his car, my golf was rather well composed! That's handling!
