bought the caps with the spanner from halfords for a ten spot, got em on then attempted to take em off with the spanner again lol couldnt get a couple off cos the valve on my prodrive alloys have a nut at the bottom nr the wheel, the valve spins with the new cap !!! think itll be a two spanner job to get em off !! now where is a dust cap thief when you need them !

Not that bother m8, normally buy cheapo ones from halfords £1 for a pack of five metal and but three or so packs at a time. If they go missing so what. Just like the look on the spin caps ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

How about this for a solution :
Buy yer fancy silver caps, then just paint them black !
That way the cap thieves will just think they're sucky plastic ones, but you'll know that they're really platinum-plated Faberge caps and can drive round smug in the knowledge that the scumbags don't know !!![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Just be careful who you tell, y'know in case the word gets out.
Sorted.

Simply rub dog poo on the caps at the back so you can't see it. Then when they go to touch the caps they get poo on their fingers ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

The old ones are the best and sometimes most effective

Quote from website....
Does that mean you can claim on the 30-day money back guarantee if they get nicked cause they are no good for what they claim?
No more air being let out of your tires by the neighborhood kids and/or stolen caps

Seeing as I'm in a good mood.
If anybody wants a set of black caps, mail me with their address and I'll post some out at half the price of the silver ones.
Now I can't get fairer than that can I ?![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I've lost count of the number of sets I have had knicked. It's not the cost of replacing them, but more the fact that it's anoying they keep going missing. If there are any truely anti theft caps, I would be interested in purchasing some if anyone has any information. I'm not interested in the plastic black ones, the coloured alloy ones look so much better. I would just like them to stay on the car for longer than 2 weeks.

Paint them pink, and keep them forever.
"stands up, and hangs head in shame."...I confess.
I used to knick them as a kid and put them on my Grifter.![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
I used to whizz around and try to find better ones, than the last ones I had robbed. The best ones I had were like valve extentions, they where black and had a pressure indicator at the end, I think if your tyres were fully pumped up the end was green. I never bettered them. Later that year I got a grown up Racer bike, with 15 gears, woooooooo, it had skinney valves on it, I was gutted!

Ok - I'm a sad B4stard. After losing 2 sets of metal ones I now spray paint my plastic ones the same colour as the car.
Sad, pathetic but proud![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Not had one nicked since.
Alas

Hey dont knock the thread !!!! lol wot ive started here will become a religion... no more shall we fear the hand of the cap thief... no more shall the dark plasticky caps be pretenders to the throne..
Silver caps look fookin nice on me 18" prodrive alloys {silver ones not gold]
i tried the plaggy ones, and like a sad ****** i kept on looking at them outof me front room window hoping someone would nick em !! in the end i had to take em off and get some more silver ones [which got nicked!]
i think its all part of my obsessive compulsive personallity !!!
but this thread is gooooood reading !! [for me anyway ..duh]
well me spannered ones from halfords are still on !!!!!

I'll go with Virgin's method....spanner then allen key.
So far its worked for me, although I'm so sad I carry a spare set in the boot, as I hate the plastic ones.
Why spend X £'s on nice wheels and ruin the effect fitting plastic caps because some Twocers steel the metal ones?
Like the dog poo idea and have also considered cutting grooves in the caps and glueing in razor blade pieces.

i had a set once... then got plastic ones...
ill stick to them i think...![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
after all u cant see them when you are in the car![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
and am sure peeps are really impressed you have nice shiny caps when you overtake them...
but at least it looks nice on the driveway...
can think of better things to spend £10 on like 3 pints

Forgot to mention if your fitting spin caps( i've just ordered 3 sets) don't forget to put a smidgin of copper slip on the valve thread before fitting as your in danger of getting a bi-metal weld otherwise.
Also would recommend spraying the spin caps with laquer to avoid the aluminium corroding due to brake dust & salt.

After two sets were nicked off mine I've gone for the plastic jobbies... and they're still there.
I had the spanner ones from Halfords which lasted 6 days. One of the kids in my area said he saw another lad using a nut cracker to get them off.
10 out of 10 for initiative!... btu I'll use the nutcracker on him when I catch the little ****.
