are you sure? if you take that attitude you'll get pushed around the whole time. you'd let someone push in front of you in a queue would you?
these f*ckers need sorting out and rolling over means they win. unfortunately, wives and kids need to learn to fight against this sort of ****.
ignore this kind of comment

blinkin' flip...well scary.
I'm very please to learn that you and your family are out of harms way. I can understand how angry you must feel
personally no matter how much you love your scoob i would put family first. if it is attracting this kind of unwanted attention, then i know what i would get rid off to get peace of mind. i can say that you are very lucky...god bless .
take it east bud!

Hmmmm..... That's just sobered me up no end.
I could go on all day about stuff like this, but after my car was attempted outside my house, with Clifford, Disklok, Security lights, CCTV, you begin to wonder if it's all worth it. That comment about being up and out of bed at every noise - that's me right now.
Funnily enough, when the police turned up at the scene one 4 a.m. morning, and I told him I'd have really gone to town on the four guys that tried for my car (adrenaline still going), he looked at me blankly.
The reply that came back was sobering enough - he told me that they attend more casualty call outs for people trying to defend property than they do actual breaking and enters......
Really scary stuff........

it seems as if the law is siding with the criminals now, basically u r a victim in your own home, if u defend urself,family/home then u are likely to be imprisoned for any harm u do to the criminal.
and probably for a longer sentence then the criminal for B & E (beaking & entering)
it doesnt matter that they have caused u n ur family mental anguish as well as the cost of your property etc, all for the sake of trying to get some keys for a car. thats not important anymore.
so basically we just might as well leave our doors open and the keys in the ignition for fear that we might get prosecuted for laying a finger on them!!!!
personally, if they broke into my house i would do everything in my power to make sure they didnt get any further.
"ooops, during the tussle office my fingers accidentally found their way into his eyeballs"
"fight em where possible, defend ur rights and family"

Couldn't agree more, to many do gooders making excuses for these people, bought my Scoob 3 months ago, everytime I read a new post of this ilk it makes me wonder whether I have done the right thing, not selling though, don't see why we should give in to these people, firmly believe if someone enters your house with intent to burgle/attack etc the homeowner should have the right to deal with that person as they see fit, whatever the consequences to the intruder should be and with the full support of the law.
Personally I leave the keys out of sight but where they could be found quite easily, if thats what they want then so be it, the last thing I want is the scum venturing upstairs and nearer the family.
Its time the government started standing up us and stamping down on the low-lifes, they won't though, to scared of upsetting some minority group they have just given £100,000 pounds to in a lottery grant.
Thanks for the oppurtunity for a soap box session, like all of you its so damn frustrating to see the politicians who we pay to protect our interests fawning over and backslapping their own party members instead of focusing on real issues and acutally dealing with them instead of meaningless promises that most of us don't even believe.
Cheers

juan,
i have a missus but no kids. maybe if i did have i would think more like you.
don't get me wrong, if i got held up at gunpoint i would hand the keys over no worries but i would like to think it wouldnt prevent me from owning another desirable car, which was the original point.

This is an all too common experience.
Last November, Friday afternoon of the Wales Rally GB, 3:30 in the middle of a small village next to the shop and opposite the pub, two of these people tried to kick in the front door and then broke through reinforced and toughed double glazing.
Sportswagon had been parked on the drive for 2 weeks as I had been working away.
Son was in nursery, wife left to pick him up, they were in within 5 minutes of her leaving. They got me keys, wife's laptop etc.etc., but were challenged by a neighbour so didn't get the pride and joy.
Police were great - seriously ! These two characters cut themselves on breaking the double glazing and the police got enough DNA and a visual positive ID. Subsequently went to Court and, get this after a couple of grand of damage and loss, these guys got a community rehabilitation order.
In the meantime - home security seriously beefed and used every day!
Sorry that this is becoming a common tale.

Shocking reading, bet you and the wife jump at ever noise for a few weeks...my sympathies.
I pick my new STi RA up next week and have already explained to the wife (with 2 week old daughter now)about the need for blackjax and what to do etc, i daren't even tell her about this as she'll worry even more.

Sorry to hear about your encounter, It's a sad old world knowing there's tw*ts out there that will do almost anything to nick your car.
I've got CCTV & Alarms / Security lights on both garage and house, My Mrs car blocks the garage at night, and I keep a spare key downstairs on the keyring that was mapped against the old ECU hence if they do break in and nick the key they will have problems starting it(might buy a bit of time). Also have a very loud dog that does'nt take too well to strangers.
If all that fails I have something else that I don't care to mention as my contingency plan.
pfffft the things you have to do to protect your property

I have Stanley Steel doors filled to hope fully avoid this sort of thing or at least give me more time to hit the alarm panic button and got my base ball bat.
The doors look like they are pvc but a infact steel plate and framed.
for doors of this type have a look at http://www.asllocks.com/www/steel_security_doors3.asp
Can't help but think shotgun shells loaded with pepper corns would be a good idea. But think I will pick-up some Mace in the states next time I'm over there.

Isnt it really sad that the ****s cant keep their hands to themselves...garage a must...alarm on car and garage a must...tracker a must...WTF else do we need except a justice system thats stops this happening OR We protect our property ourselves if the police cant do it for us????
USA has the right idea on property protection - **** anyone that tries to get in your house - they are there for one thing only - to cause you missery and heart ache..nothing else...
Waiting for the next court case to appear...debating more boll** on TV with more political rubbish about human rights and gun laws.. UK is such a nice place to live if "surrounded by security fences, dogs and alarms"...soemtimes this country really pisses me off.
I have travelled all over europe and only time i feel unsecure is back in the UK when it comes to car crime and house crime.

I,m sure i would fight back instinctively ....BUT...if you really want to keep the car , and i'm sure you do ,then keep it but promise to yourself if it happens again you will hand over keys asap/through letter box, this way you and your wife will feel safer knowing that you will not fight/risk life & limb,it means swallowing your pride but at what price ,check out the theft payout limit on your car and make sure it is adequate then relax in the knowledge that if anything like this happens again you can make a safer & easiER (although not easy) decision, it's a sad case when it comes to this but your familys safety is of course your main concern..

It was actually very weird timing all of this, because we were just days away from moving house anyway. It caused (and is still causing!)no end of pain on the insurance/replacement door front, but at least we are now in a new house. The memories/associations have been reduced a little bit, but like you say we twitch at the slightest noise at any time after the lights go down.
I'm also glad to say that the parking arrangements are a bit better and the scoob goes in the garage out of the way generally. The house security has also been a priority since moving in so I hope it will be equally if not better at stopping the ***ts getting in.
I am still so resentful though that I have to live my life thinking about this stuff. When you work hard, buy yoursellf a car, house etc with your hard earned cash, you should be able to sit back and enjoy. I can't do that any more at least not for the moment, but I hope to get back to 'normality' soon.
Cheers for all the kind words guys!!

Come and meet the lads on Saturday, we're going on a run to Blackpool Lights (whoopee). It'll give you a chance to meet some of the scoob owners around Warrington. Bring the wife and little one, a lot of us are bringing kids.
Drop me an e-mail as per profile and we could take it from there. Mail me anyway mate, i'd like to speak to you

S**T mate, its all been said already, my hats off to you for retaliating and hope you and yer family are getting over it - dont get rid of the car coz of one incident otherwise they've won, keep yer chin up G.

Sorry to hear what happened. From reading all these replies I think the Blackjax or other device which stops car after a short distance would be the best approach, also garaging is essential (Ihave never garaged a car until I got my scoob). Thinking about this incident a pepper spray sounds like a great tool which may also immobilise them until the cops arrive rather than using a baseball bat or hammer etc which may kill somebody. Anyone know where to get one?

Nasty-very nasty, it makes you think when you have kids...
M8 you need get some security, maybe a cammera, and anti ram post. My mate made me one and it looks the part major deterant. I Also got a camera recording everything that moves outside. Wasn't expensive to do this lot; including the lighting £200... What more can I say. other than I sinserly hope you don't have any more trouble... If you need advice on a 24h cam and software for your PC, or would like my buddy to make a post for the drive mail me I'll give you the info... The post is 3ft high stell box section set into concrete he charged me £75...
Best of luck..
