We've investigated the strip down method and unfortunatley too many components are attached to the chassis. The old colour copiers and the analogue machines were cool for dismantling because they had plenty of sub assemblies, this copier though is Digital and as such removing enough parts to make a significant difference is not really an option. It would be easier to convince the customer to leave it downstairs.
Flat, we are authorised dealers for Ricoh products and as such our engineers essentially are the "manufacturers". What the service department don't know about these machines ain't worth knowing type of thing. If they knew of a shortcut or easy way that involved disassembly, they would do it.
Anyone know a man in a van that has a heavy duty staircrawler?

Gridlock, nothing wrong with Dazza's suggestion - you just get the new company to deliver and install. Problem, what problem?

Should have guessed you'd already thought of the 'dismantle it and carry it through in bits' method.

No we haven't, they are on order but get here next month. This needs doing now. Besides, the company never needed 'em before i turned up and started selling proper copiers , not these little hell boxes that most people are familiar with

If you have one order have I presume you will have a trained bod so you tried hiring one from A-plant or Hewden's I think they carry things like that.

Still puzzled...why not lift it and enter through open upstairs window ?

a forklift with extending forks should do it.

Had a similar thing before - ended up taking the railings off the fire escape and lifting the copier up with a fork lift!

This brings back bad memories.!!!

years ago I got ropped into helping someone do the same. Right on the corner of Park lane.

It was the classic story.." Its not that heavy and should only take 1/2 hour".

Turned up with a mate called chaz who fancies himself as a boxer/hardman.... But a good bloke. When we saw it I walked past it as |I did not expect it to be the thing we where dealing with. The guy and his brother who we where helping turned up and took us back to this bloody great big machine!!!! Now these other 2 are very scared of hard work and anything that could get them dirty...

So we have a team of 4 and then he mentions the fact that he doesnt think the lift will take any of the 3 pieces (It was the smallest bloody lift Ive ever seen!!)

And its going up 4 flights of stairs... very very very long spaced type found in such buildings.

After we had split the machine up we recconed that if we had a man on each corner and the security guy helped... we might just do it.

This post could go on for about 37 pages..so I will cut to the chase..

We finished 6 hours later. Each corner took ages due to real expensive wall paper and it not realy fitting. The security guy didnt last long.... We called for "backup" guys showed but they had been drinking. Then Someone slipped and a piece pinned chaz against a corner wall.... Chaz is some Afgani/pakistani mixture... But he was going very blue for a few mins!!!!!!!!!How his ribs never broke I dont know.

It was realy one of those moments in life when you had to be there.... I laugh about it for hours when I remember it!!!

NEVER TRUST A LAZY RICH GIT!!!

Best get a 'proper' removal company. Unless you are a trained to do it and secondly insured then it's more trouble than it's worth IMHO.

What if one of your mates slips and can't work for months? Are you insured to be able to handle the injury payments?

Damn I'm good

The company that is supplying us with lifting stuff in a few weeks is still waiting for our official order (Keep 'em waiting a few weeks, then just before you sign, haggle Always works ) Anyways, said we were not to sure about capabilities of said gear.
So I said, you demonstrate the machine, if it does what we want it to do, we'll order it there and then.
He agreed so therefore problem solved for FREE. He gets the order, we get our kit moved AND we get our lifting kit earlier (With a small discount 'cos it'll be used goods )

Where there is a will (And shed loads of profit ) there's a way Thanks for your lots inputs,

mikey
