yay - a SAFETY camera on acid.......

Rossyboy - thats the joke, they never even breathalised me, or even asked if I had been out he night before, whats that all about? It was on the first long stretch up the hill coming towards aberdeen, no junctions no nothing, just straight clear road......

The clean licence is nice but any ban will not be looked on in a positive light by your insurance.

I know cos (a long time ago ) I had an over 12 pointer and with the help of a brief and a letter from my boss I got it down to one month - English court.

Good luck.

just confirming what puff said
you dont allways get a ban when you get to 12 points
ive had upto 14 on my licence without a ban (down to 10 at the moment) it just depends on your circumstances.
ive not bothered with a solicitor the last 6 times i ve been in court.

If you can prove that it would cause you exceptional hardship to be disqualified you may have a chance!

Usually if your job depends on driving, or you have a valid need to drive every day (ill child needing to go to hospital or someone who relies on you totally for medical help).

You would also need written proof.

Don't necessarily need a solicitor, the legal adviser in court will assist you.

Good luck

Then again just realised you are in Aberdeen! Scottish law is different. Ask if you can have a duty solicitor to advise you, I don't know if you have that system in Scotland.

Not intended to be self rightous but take your medicine like a man. I speed but I can't really complain when you get caught. I just think of all the times I wasn't caught. It's the luck of the draw.

Many Many years ago, I got done for speeding, and this was going to take me over the 12 limit

I went to court (on the bus, DO NOT DRIVE they will ask how you got there) and had a letter from my boss explaining that I needed my car for my job, and would lose my job if I lost my licence

The answer they gave me was 'so you were expecting to be banned then, hmm, ok we will ban you for 6 months then, and see if you learn your lesson'

AFAIK I dont think I got a clean licence back but cant really remember as it was in 1988, but I had to declare it to the insurers for quite a while

I read somewhere that according to the law, your speedometer can overread by up to 10% but may not underread at all. I think the overall 10% was agreed by the police to allow for speed measuring inaccuracies originally. They can drop that concession if they wish of course.

I know a road where they have been doing people for 53mph in a 50!!! Just a money making scheme!

Can't you try and get the court case put back a few weeks. What happens if you don't turn up, will they organise another hearing?

i reckon that as a lot of people have been slowing down to less than 10% over the speed limit the revenues have been falling so they tighten up the limits and dont tell anyone

then they get more money... and slap up more fixed camaras and can pay for more plods to hide in the bushes and snap you as you go past at 31 mph!
GITS!

as if an extra 1mph was ever dangerous!!!
its the 40mph in 30 zones, that are... in housing estates!
where small kids are...
not on empty A roads, in the dry with clear visability...
and drunk driver with no insurance!

over 10 years ive had a car hit outside my old house 3 times... twice by drunk drivers with no insurance... and once by a 18 year old prat in a metro trying to go round the corner at 60... and then failed to stop!
i also had a drunk driver hit me in the backside and then run away when i called the cops... 15 minutes later they roll up and ask which way did he go... as if he's waiting up the road for them!
and i wonder why i pay £100/month council TAX

...had a bit of rant there but i feel better now
...need coffee and calm down period!

thats sh*t p111,67in a 60 im gunna have to slow down a little if they're gettin this tight,i got a 69 in a 60 a few months ago and just in the process of a 56 in a 40 (it was 6am)that will give me 6 points, the actual ruling on this is if you get 12 points within 3 years of each other, your lookin at a ban ,but the actual points stay on your licence for 4 years...in 12 years of driving ive been done for speeding 4 times,so i dont moan when i do get caught, cause i speed alot more than i get caught the only downside to this is every time its been whilst driving a ****** work van and never in me car!!! lol

Good luck on the day, hope you keep the licence, we all do it, just some get lucky and some don't!
I'm on 3 points at the moment, first in 12 years, but certainly not the first time I've been speeding in 13 years.
Hopefully they will see sense, it is not as if you have been thieveing or killing is it?

thanx for ur comments beemerboy - the plate was a legacy from my cousins estate, he was terminally ill at 17 died at 18, what little money he had he arranged for all close family to have a private plate.

Just thought u might like to know that
