Pete,
I agree, but the way Eddington put it was that Airbus would not give it a CoA. Not really up on all the technicalities but the whole thing stinks of (as you say) corporate bull****e.
I can see BA losing a lot of credability over this from which it will take years to recover (if at all).
The "goverement" have taken a remarkable silent stance over this which, by saying & doing the right things, they could have recovered a bit of their flagging popularity.

If anyone is going, we'll be at the The Green Man, Hatton Cross for the party at about 5pm.

Some facts from concordesst.com
Why is Concorde being retired?
It is all down to cost: the Airlines are not making back the money spent on the safety modifications and other upgrades. With some other big costs coming up (tens of millions, before any life extension programme), BA need to write off £84M now, rather than £150M in 3 or 4 years. Air France will write off a large sum of money too.
Airbus, the supporting Manufacturer, will also not support the aircraft after October 2003.
British Airways reportedly received £1.75 Billion in revenue for Concorde services against an operating cost of around £1 Billion. Air France made a much smaller profit. End of quotes. (I think these figures are grand total!)
Day to day running, the plane makes a profit, even if its running half full.
Interstingly, Airbus as a company, would not have exisited today without the initial Concorde project all those years ago. (Airbus was the main supplier). A nice way to pay it back?!

Well my parents live on the Cornish coast and concorde used to fly over same time most nights and you always use to hear the sonic boom as she goes supersonic (rattles the windows). Then they made them wait a another mile or so off the coast before going supersonic, all because of other locals complaining I believe.
Its only when you look at how old they are and how many other countries have tried to copy them and fail, then you begin to understand the magnitude of what they achieved.
Im suprised someone like Branson hasnt snapped one up or are they not allowed to be sold on?
Simon.

Apparently now he knows he cant accuire the fleet for comercial use he wants to get all parties involved around a table to discuss keeping them in the Air for Airshows etc and he wont gain financially from that!! (Read it on here somewhere)

In fact that picture couldn't have been at Concorde's highest ceiling - at 58,000 feet, if you look up, it's black!! Awesome. At least, it was...

very sad. awesome at the same time though.
Once again I can't help feeling we must be the laughing stock of the world to be seen throwing something of such value down the pan.

Just got this e-mail from a mate:
"Just got back, the place was full of people, all the approach roads
were full. Typically, I went to the south side which was the runway
in use, along with thousands of others, only for BAA to divert all
three Concordes onto the North runway.....had to jump on the bike
and dash to the east side and park on the perimeter road. Got a
great view of them go right over our heads, but not many photos as I
was too busy watching it. As the last one went over our heads, there
was a spontaneous round of applause, and I have to say it was quite
sad to think we'll not see the like of it again."
