Virgin

Most newbies get directed to the SIDC FAQ which although a bit out of date, still proves very helpful, however, with over 30,000 members with loads of newbies arriving every day it gets a bit tiring ... I have personally replied to alot of newbies, trying to help them in the same way as I got help when I joined.... so I personally find your comments completely over the top and feel you should slap yourself around the face with a wet kipper

Think about it....

Virgin, its always disappointing to read comments like this as many "scoobynetter" will do their utmost to help newbie's out.

OK so there might be a bit of mickey taking though usually some questions have been done to death a zillion times & there is a search facility.

Many people will respond though this is not a "timed" event many people only access during the evenings & if like me there are so many other forums out there; that sometimes it may take several hours to respond.....days sometimes.

Bear with it & you'll find them a useful bunch

I have been using this site for about 12 months. Personally, it has given me back some faith in the human race.

I mean in real life, how many people will give you there time and expert knowledge for nothing. Hard enough to get the time of day out of some people. Some of the technical posts on here will have taken the author a LOT of time and research to complete. All for nothing, except a possible thank-you at the end.

At the end of the day, I know whatever goes wrong with my Scooby,or aspects of my life in general for that matter, someone on here will do there upmost to help me solve the problem, for free. That's got to be a good thing, and very rare in the society we live in.

have been using this bbs for abt 20 months now

from the posts, crucial determinants:

time of day

type of question (eg. can i fit a dump valve has been done to death)

search first before asking is good

but i must say, scoobynet is the best place for free advice albeit sometimes not relevant but yet u cant find any bbs with soo many hits and people around.

in direct comparison with our close rival the MLR, personal experience is that asking a question re pajero evo on mlr returned zilch replies but scoobynet... wehey!.... pointed me in the right directions. even had a mitsu dealer called me up after seeing my post on scoobynet. guess this small instance reinforced my faith in this bbs more.

patience and tolerance is a virtue, but how much?.... u decide.

I have also experienced first hand behaviour which matches some of the comments you made in your original post why apologise. Sometimes its good to get what you feel off your chest. Some people will jump on you for ANY negative comment you make on these forums WHY??? . Instead of accepting the comments you make and learning from them. I like scoobynet a lot and I used to post on another subaru forum that wasnt as popular but when you are a "noob" theres nothing worse than being verbally and intellectually challenged by people that have been posting here from day one. I imagine someone will post a negative comment in reply to this post , instead of seeing that everyone IS entitled to there opinion.

How techical does it have to get before someone will bother repyling ?
Depends entirely on the whim of the people reading it. There are no rules obliging folk to reply. Mind you, I'd suggest that if you ask a technical question, asking it in the appropriate forum would be a good start.

How good does the point have to be to get a reply ?
Good enough, I'd imagine.

1 not everyone is a wiz on computers, some people probably amaze themselves by even submitting a topic
That's not our fault. If you want to go to the football match, you've got to know how to buy a ticket.

2 Some people in life like the quick and easy straight answer without ploughing through loads of old threads,
In other words, they're lazy. If they're simply too lazy to click a couple of buttons, then why should we be bothered answering their posts? The thing you're forgetting is that it's often quicker to get the answer to a question by probing existing threads than posting a new question and waiting for some mug to answer it.

Thus this gives them the time to earn the money to pay for the dam scoob.
We all have to pay for our cars. Nobody should use this as an excuse to be a lazy tw*t.

4 The real regulars on this site tend to only answer each other in threads whilst conducting a pissing contest on there knowlegde levels
And of course you still expect the same people to answer your posts, now you've made your opinion of them so abundantly clear?

and then to top it of they will rip in on a simple spelling mistake,
Don't know about the rest, but I learned to spell in school and consider being able to communicate efficiently with others a pretty basic (and simple) human skill. If people can't do this, or worse, appear to deliberately use txt lngo when it is not necessary to do so, why should we take the time to try and decode their warblings?

this is happening whilst fred blogg from tim buck2 is desperate to find out the best back box as a first mod !
Maybe he'd be better served by learning to write than buying things for his car?

Could we start to help out the newbees please !, when u see the amount of views on topics without a reply,
TAKE THE BLOODY TIME TO HELP THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two words. The second one is "off", you can pick the first yourself. You've got no more right to start sermonising on what the rest of us should or shouldn't do than anyone else. If the "regulars" here p*ss you off so much, why don't you toddle off somewhere else?

If people post questions that are worth answering, and someone who feels like answering sees them, the posts will get answered. If they don't, they won't. Simple. That's the way any online forum works. There's nothing you can say that will change that, so probably better to just live with it and move on.
