I took a teg out for test drive two weeks ago, they're mad fun. They're a stripped out racer, and the chassis is amazing, don't bother with a civic. Evo rate it 'as the best drivers car they know'!
With an induction kit, and new exsaust system you can expect about 210 odd break, but there is loads you can do with affecting reliablity too much to get that higher, a Mugen ECU map for example.
I don't know of any honda tuners personally, I have been looking myself, however I did find this on the web, again I can't recomend them as have no experience with them:

Andy, basically yes.
Mine was an MY00 car, the 1.8.
In and around town it was very easy to drive, light clutch, good brakes, not overly sensitive throttle, great gearchange.
Bit like driving a noisier, harder riding Civic 1.4 with steering feel
My wife used it for her daily cross city comute to work with no problems at all.
Yes the torque peak is high, but they are still pretty nippy up to the crossover point. Think of it as a quick N/A 1800 up to 6000 rpm and an animal after that.
Plenty of poke in 3rd/4th/5th at lower speeds.
But, its noisier than you'll be used to, hard and a very different experience. Still a good car even if your fiance never passes 6000 rpm.
Legendary bullit proof honda reliability as well
What is doesn't have is any form of electronic traction control whatsoever. What it does have is a mechanical front LSD
Wheelspin in the wet can be an issue if driving with "spirit", but its very, very controllable and will not bite back.
Go and drive one, you'll be surprised.

Did you say you were local to me Andy, there is a red teg just up the road from me, it has low mileage and perfect nick for £13k, red with standard black wheels. I BLEEDING want it, but alas I won't be buying till sometime next year..
Go on honda website, and search second hand cars, they're has always been a couple on there, plus honda dealers will give free service, and offer a years dealer warranty!
With regards, to tdi, I agree, but it does give you an idea of pricers and what can be done.

I live in Surbiton and work in Kingston.
Trident in Weybridge had one, but by the time I got over there on Saturday they had sold it!! They are getting one in the next week or so, but again it's about £13k.
I've seen a couple with a bit more mileage (40-50k, rather than 20-25k) but around the £10.5k mark!

BTW, thanks for the information!
Can you drop me a mail with details of this red one? I might do a cheeky test drive (as I've never driven an Integra) and if all goes well, buy a cheaper one!!

If you're looking for late DC2's - be careful of red x plate ones with registration X***GLF as these are ex Jonathon Palmer Motorsport cars flogged through Honda dealers.

he he.
See if you can take out cupra, and cupra r, come and let us know what you think..
You might also wanna consider clio 172/cup, although you're not going to get the same build quality and finish that you'll get from honda, but both very capable cars.
