As you may well know, I like my watches.....

I bought my Casio lcd digital, waterproof, do everything, super accurate timepiece for £3 in Iran. Same thing was at least £2 more expensive in Bangkok. Should have bartered harder and got it down to £2.75. But then, look at all the money I've saved on clothes.

I've given up wearing watches because there is ...
- a clock in my car
- a clock on my cooker
- a clock on my TV
- a clock by the bed
- a clock on my PC
- a clock on my work phone
- a clock on my mobile phone
- a clock on my Solaris workstation
And the last thing I need is to be reminded I've wasted another 24 hours of my life working!

I have always liked Tag watches but could never part with £1k for the one I wanted. Bought a Seiko Arctura Kinetic for £325 (£399 on the high street). Its a great watch apart from it doesnt have perpetual calendar so if it loses all its charge then it doesnt remember the time
Ive had it about 2 years and where it most days. In that time its picked up quite a few scratches. Especially as I am right handed and wear it on my right wrist. I would hate to have a really expensive watch as I would be too scared to damage the thing.
Simon.

James Neill,
Your watch was a red square, up until today, now I can see it.
Whitnauer was (I think) the name of a watch that my Dad got one Xmas from my Mum. This was in the 70s, and I was so gutted when she gave it to him, because I had been rooting about and came across the watch and thought it was for me. This was the watch which started me off on my collecting binge.
The watch had the obligatory red plastic face, it was round and slim(old 10p size), with a close knit chainmail style bracelet.
The two buttons on the face(one slightly smaller than the other) didnt stick out proud from the red plastic, but instead they were completely flush. I think the buttons were activated by the moisture in your finger.
Do you know anything about the watch Im describing, and if so where can I buy one.
Cheers Yoza

This site is probably the best archive of old LED watches
http://www.ledwatches.net/
I've never seen a Wittnauer that matches your description. I know that some of the Pulsars had buttons on the front, but not like you described.
Anyway - your best bet is to search through ebay. These days this is where most of them get sold. The original Pulsars are the most in demand
and also the Omegas - yep they made digital watches too
Just had a look myself and this baby is the most expensive I've seen in a while. Probably the most advanced bit of technology you could buy when it came out. Now you can get it for just £2000!

Ive just bought my first Rolex at the age of 27. Bloke in the shop smirked as I handed my switch over for £1700. Soon wiped the smile of his face when I put it on and walked out.

Does anyone have an idea of some nice watch makes around the £1500 to £2500 mark?
Already have Rolex sub Gold/ss (dont really want another one)and was looking for something in all over stainless that was possibly a bit interesting. lokked at a breitling B1 today but wasnt overly impressed with the quality it seemed miles away from my sub, any ideas anyone?
Oh and it cant be tag as i cant stand them! (no offence to anyone)

No ridicule m8.It was a very limited edition run by Goldsmiths of 60 Lancaster and 60 Mosquito watches.Commemorating the 1st flight of these two aircraft back in 1941.So very easy to miss.
This was the advert in the local rag.
This is the authenticity cert. signed at the bottom by Group Captain James Tait who took over from Cheshire as CO of 617 Squadron(Dambusters).
This is the model of a Dambuster Lancaster complete with "Bouncing bomb" on the trailer in the bottom left corner. This all came with the watch.
And this was my dad at the rear of his 101 Squadron Lancaster back in 1943.The proud reason for me purchasing this watch.

I stand corrected......, Dont you just hate it when that happens.
60 only, come on I should be let off on that one.
Talk about exclusivity,, keep it for a few years then sell it and buy a nice island in the Carrabean.
I take it the watch is a LTD Edition derivative of a BlackBird Windrider?
Does it say SERIE SPECIALE in red around the hour counter chrono, or MOSQUITO/LANCASTER?
Later Yoza (know all, know nowt)

Does anyone know where I can check out serial nos of a Tag heuer. I've just bought a Tag Heuer Monaco over ebay for GBP1,070.00 - it seems genuine - it is mint. It says Heuer on the face instead of Tag heuer. But the model number seems different to ones I can find on the net CS2111.ZV7457 ??

I was watching that that Monaco...small world eh? Love watches, have about 20, wear them all from my Disney Marvin the Martian flip-up Flying saucer to a black face Explorer II - the only Rolex I actually find attractive...apart from the new Green bezel sub mariner I don't need another watch!! Anyway once every couple years I end up taking 5 to 10 quartz watches into local jewellers for batteries..they always look at me like I'm some kinda burgalar LOL

Goochie - yes I do. And very much like the vendor on ebay the insurance company saw me coming here. Fullly Comp two named drivers protected no claims costs (I think) GBP650.
So whilst the speed limit is 35, 25 and 15, no one can steal your car off the island premiums are still high. Even Guernsey is not insulated from the woes of the insurance market.
(Caveat: I am a mug)

I am off very soon to "Da jungle"
But the wife is on a business trip... have arranged a few top spec Submariners to come back with her...Not that I would want to offer them to anyone here on scoobynet..cos that get the Mods going "jurky jurky".. So will be selling them on the quiet...
Yesterday I was asked to look at a rolex by a friend of my wife.... I told her straight it was a fake (Not bad but the glass was wrong) her face went like thunder.......
Unless you are a bloody expert and live work watches. It is not that difficult to get ripped off.
To Date the best fake I have ever seen was a "Hublot" with the ruber strap. A little company copied them and I bought around 18 pieces. Many ended up been swapped in shops etc with real ones. This was 20 years ago..most fakes looked terrible. These ..well they even got the inside (Works) to look the same. They made me some money and a hell of a lot more for the guy i sold them to..

I have had a good look at the watch in the picture. What you need to do is to compare the watch you have received and the one in the pic.
Ive seen these faked...In fact very earlier this year I posted some pics of them here on scoobynet.... Mods went a bit "Jerky jerky" about it!!!
The quickest test will be look at the inside of the strap. The strap holding loops... (You thread the staps end through them after you have put the watch on) How are both ends joined together????? This is always where most go wrong.
I would just take it in to a dealer. Explain and let them look at it.
The Boxes etc could be real...............
MONT BLANC pens are been faked..but rumour has it... they had a load of REAL boxes etc nicked from the manufactures. So they realy look original.

I don't know what derivative the watch is yoza. But you are close with the red round the hour counter. It has "1941-2001" in red around the top arc of the dial. Then there is a picture of a Lancaster with "Breitling" below it & "Lancaster" below that, just to the left of the date.On the back it has the Bomber Command insignia engraved in the centre.
Hmm now which island should I go for? In reality I would not wish to part with it until I need it to fund my nursing home fees.
