As a matter of interest has anyone tried using a laser pointer instead to test them?
Tried mine a while ago at the Hants meet with a proper laser gun (a big thanks to Jen ) and it works ok![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Laser pointers use visible (red, typically) laser light. If a laser pointer emitted IR then it would be a pretty cr@p laser device. These detectors shouldn't respond to visible light, so that test shouldn't trigger a response. I wouldn't bother, tbh.

mn_angrybeats: no, you're right - I've not read the manual. What does it say about use of red laser light for testing purposes?
I don't presume to know their product better than the manufacturers. However, I do know lasers (physics & physical chemistry degree).

or did you not think about that.
My supplier has arranged a short test to put my mind at rest since my first one failed
He will only be with me five minutes

I test laser detectors using the infra red on my mobile phone ( nokia 6310i ) , call a phone number up , use "send business card" and select infra red , needs to be fairly close but it activates my Origin B2 , not got my LRC100 installed yet so dont know how it works with that

Who's Snipping? just trying to inform people that mine is now working as it was mentioned in the initial post that I was having problems with mine
When I bought mine it included a FREE test
The guy that tested it is indeed the same man who RayC is dealing with and is very knowledgable about these matters so Good luck with arranging your testing session.

If this group test goes ahead is there any chance you could test various materials and the effects on Laser reception and jamming (putting it in front of the LRC). I am thinking of for example clear perspex / lexan, tinted perspex / lexan etc, this would enable units to be concealed even further if the unit still works.

Phil,
I was actually suggesting the sniping was at you, not by you!
Nobody should be offended, all I'm trying to do is get everyone back on course to get the test to go ahead, threads always wander off the mark for many varied reasons.
Cheers

I'm sure he will test most things for you its just finding time between now and Christmas as he said his diary is pretty full.
Indeed he was off to test another installation in Kent once he tested mine.
As I said before good luck with arranging this test.
And just a quick mention for my supplier Rob at the mobile centre wasn't as cheap as the group buy but excellent service throughout.
